Method and apparatus for executing application in wireless communication system
A first device in a wireless communication system is provided. The first device discovers a second device using a first application, and transmits to the second device information to request launch of a second application by the second device.
MULTIMEDIA PIPELINE ARCHITECTURE
A media content pipeline architecture is described that enables media devices to efficiently receive, store, play, and stream media content. In general, a media content pipeline as described herein is configured to receive media content streams from one or more input sources, segment and store the media content streams into fixed-sized or variable-sized data buffers, encrypt the data stored in the buffers, and store the encrypted data in an in-memory buffer cache for further processing. The media content pipeline further may be configured to write the encrypted buffers stored in the in-memory buffer cache to a secondary storage device (e.g., a hard disk) in response to the occurrence of one or more defined operating conditions. The media content pipeline may enable a media device to efficiently receive and process media content data streams, write the media content data streams to storage, and stream the media content data to client devices.
Home menu interface for displaying content viewing options
A method of displaying a home menu interface on a content viewing device, such as a television, is described. The interface is comprised of two components: a launcher and an accelerator. Each of these components include multiple tiles. One type of launcher tile represents a content source. The user can select this tile and enable a direct link to the content source application. Only after selecting the tile, does the content source application open. An accelerator is associated with a specific content source. An accelerator tile displays content previews or enables easy playback of content provided by the content source. The user can select an accelerator tile and enable a deep link to the content, taking the user straight to the content, bypassing a hierarchy of menu options.

Session description information for over-the-air broadcast media data
An over-the-air (OTA) broadcast middleware unit is configured to receive aggregated session description data for a plurality of sessions, wherein each of the sessions transports media data related to common media content, and wherein each of the sessions is transmitted as part of an OTA broadcast, and extract at least some of the media data from the OTA broadcast based on the aggregated session description data. The OTA broadcast middleware unit may further deliver the extracted media data to a streaming client, such as a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) client.
Techniques for secure provisioning of a digital content protection scheme
Techniques for improved decryption of an encrypted media stream are described. In one embodiment, a system may include a receiver to receive an encrypted media stream, an extraction module to extract an encryption characteristic of the encrypted media stream, a first processor to produce configuration commands from the extracted encryption characteristic, a second processor to receive the encrypted media stream and the configuration commands, and to produce decrypted media based upon a decryption scheme indicated by the configuration commands, and a key distribution module, to distribute a decryption key to the second processor.
IPTV SESSION MANAGEMENT
A session management involves registering at least one IPTV application in a registration table so that the registration table includes at least a respective identifier of the IPTV applications. The IPTV applications are invokable at a set top box and can be so-called embedded applications and/or browser-based applications. An event requiring the invocation of an IPTV application at the set top box is detected and triggers a look-up in the registration table. The registration table is thus used as source to indicate those IPTV applications that are potentially available and can be launched at the set top box. One of the registered applications is launched for the purpose of handling the detected event.
Digital device and method for processing application thereon
Disclosed in the present specification are various embodiments regarding a digital device and a method for processing services on the digital device. Here, a method for processing an application on a digital device having a Web OS platform according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving a load request from a media application located in the foreground; generating a first media pipeline according to the received load request; if a resource assigning request is received from the first media pipeline, assigning the acquisition-requested resource to the first media pipeline; and receiving a playing request from the media application and then outputting the media.
Apparatus and method for preventing switching from a channel during an advertisement display
An apparatus and method is disclosed for preventing a viewer from switching from a channel when an advertisement is being displayed on the channel. The apparatus and method comprises an advertisement controller in a video playback device that (1) prevents a viewer of a direct (non-recorded) broadcast from switching channels when an advertisement is displayed, and (2) prevents a viewer of a recorded program from fast forwarding the recorded program in order to skip past advertisements that were recorded with the program. A viewer may either watch the advertisements or pay a fee in order to be able to change channels or fast forward when the advertisements are being displayed.
FRAME RATE SWITCHING METHOD AND APPARATUS
Embodiments of this application provide a frame rate switching method and apparatus, applied to the field of terminal technologies. The method includes: drawing and rendering, by an application thread, a first image frame at a frame interval corresponding to a first frame rate in a first period; drawing and rendering, by the application thread, a second image frame at a frame interval corresponding to a second frame rate in a second period, where the second period is preceded by the first period, and the second frame rate is different from the first frame rate; transmitting, by a compositing thread, a first frame-rate-switching request to a hardware composer in a third period. This application can solve the problem of speed fluctuation caused by frame rate switching in displaying an image frame on electronic devices.
