An electronic apparatus may include a microphone; a communication circuitry; a memory; and a processor configured to: identify whether information of an external apparatus that previously connected through the communication circuitry is stored in the memory based on a preset event of the electronic apparatus; based on identifying that the information of the external apparatus that previously connected through the communication circuitry is stored in the memory, perform connection with the external apparatus through the communication circuitry based on the information of the external apparatus; and based on identifying that the information of the external apparatus that previously connected through the communication circuitry is not stored in the memory, perform connection with the external apparatus by performing a search through the communication circuitry, based on a first voice command obtained through the microphone.

Techniques for acoustic management of entertainment devices and systems are described. Various embodiments may include techniques for acoustically determining a location of a remote control or other entertainment device. Some embodiments may include techniques for controlling one or more entertainment components using voice commands or other acoustic information. Other embodiments may include techniques for establishing a voice connection using a remote control device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

The present disclosure provides a control method of a display screen and a control apparatus of a display screen. The control method of a display screen of the present disclosure includes: detecting, using an ultrasonic detection device, whether there is a viewer present in a viewable range of the display screen, and generating a detection result; and controlling on-off status of the display screen according to the detection result.

A control device is provided. The control device includes a first communication interface unit which transmits a control command in a first communication mode which uses a bi-directional wireless communication, a second communication interface unit which transmits a control command in a second communication mode which uses a unidirectional wireless communication, a state determination unit which determines a communication mode of the control device, a user interface unit which displays a user interface window which corresponds to a determined communication mode and receives the control command with respect to a broadcast receiver and a control unit which transmits the received control command according to the determined communication mode.

Systems, apparatuses, methods, and one or more computer-readable media storing executable instructions for predicting trigger events, such as an advertisement during a video program, and activating a remote control device in response to the prediction are described. By activating the remote control device at a particular time, the remote control device may save energy when listening for data from one or more terminal devices. The time to activate the remote control may be based on one or more factors, including the current presentation position and/or presentation speed of the video program. A remote control device may take additional actions the next time it listens for data, including illuminating backlights, turning on a display, displaying content on the display, interacting with other devices, etc.

An electronic device and a method of operating the same are provided. The electronic device includes a communication circuit configured to transmit or receive data using a call channel established through a call connection with an external electronic device, and a processor configured to transmit content, which is pre-processed using a first transmission filter, to the external electronic device through the call channel, receive a first real-time control protocol (RTCP) message transmitted by the external electronic device through the call channel, identify a status of the call channel, based on the first RTCP message, determine whether or not to perform an operation of pre-processing the content to be transmitted to the external electronic device using a second transmission filter, transmit a second RTCP message using the second transmission filter to the external electronic device, and perform transmission of the content, based on the second transmission filter.

Systems and methods are described herein for generating a watch schedule and compressed series for a user for a series that is expected to become unavailable. Availability data indicating when a content series will become unavailable is received and compared to user progression habits. If the content series will become unavailable before the user will complete it, a watch schedule may be offered to the user. If the user subsequently falls behind on this watch schedule, a compressed version of the content series may be offered to the user.

Disclosed are a network and method for transferring media content experience from a first smart media device to a second smart media device via an electronic program guide. Each of the smart media devices are pre-configured to have a unique name which is viewable from the electronic program guide, and to establish two way communications between the uniquely named first and second smart media devices. The electronic program guide is run on at least one of the smart media devices, and the electronic program guide is viewed on a display associated with at least one of the smart media devices. A user is provided a plurality of options to interact with the electronic program guide, including the option to transfer and view the media content experience selected on the first media device to the second smart media device. Preferably, the user selects options via voice commands or manually inputted commands.

Aspects of the present invention include a device comprising a first sensor and a circuitry configured to detect a first user action and a second user action, the second user action being detected by the first sensor. The circuitry is further configured to designate a first mode based on the first user action and a second mode based on the second user action, the first mode and the second mode being power saving modes and the second mode is configured to save power consumed by the first sensor.

A fiber optic-based communications network includes: a power insertion device, connected to multiple fiber links from a data source, configured to provide power insertion to a hybrid fiber/power cable connected to at least one fiber link of the multiple fiber links; the hybrid fiber/power cable, connecting the power insertion device to a connection interface device, configured to transmit data and power from the power insertion device to the connection interface device; and the connection interface device, configured to provide an interface for connection to an end device via a power over Ethernet (PoE)-compatible connection and to provide optical to electrical media conversion for data transmitted from the power insertion device to an end device via the hybrid fiber/power cable and the PoE-compatible connection.
