A printer is caused to perform a checking print for a job in a case that a predetermined user's instruction is received via a user interface. The printer is caused to perform the checking print for the job without receiving the predetermined user's instruction in a case that the job meets a predetermined condition.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an adjustment unit configured to select a type of adjustment processing and execute the selected type of adjustment processing for the image forming unit, and a determination unit to determine an adjustment time based on the selected type of adjustment processing. The determination unit determines, in a case where the adjustment unit causes the image forming unit to stop the image forming operation for executing the selected type of adjustment processing in a downtime, a first adjustment time, and wherein the determination unit determines, in a case where the image forming unit has finished the image forming operation, a second adjustment time longer than the first adjustment time.

An information processing apparatus which is capable of reducing damage caused by invalid execution data received via a public network. The information processing apparatus carries out either communications using the public network or communications without using the public network with an external apparatus. An IP address assigned to the information processing apparatus is stored. Execution data for executing a job is received from the external apparatus. When the IP address assigned to the information processing apparatus is a global IP address that is for use in the communications using the public network, a setting is made to restrict execution of the execution data.

An information processing device includes a retaining unit and an image display. The retaining unit retains image-formation-related information of an image forming apparatus that forms an image. The image display causes a display section of a portable terminal having the display section and an image capturing section to display an image for assisting with an operation of the image forming apparatus based on a captured image result of the image capturing section and the image-formation-related information retained in the retaining unit.

An information processing system includes one or more information processing apparatuses to individually store a print job executable with an image forming apparatus, and a management apparatus. Each information processing apparatus includes a first memory to store the print job and first circuitry to transmit, through a network, user identification information identifying one or more users who are allowed to execute the print job. The management apparatus includes a second memory to store association information associating for each print job the user identification information transmitted from the first circuitry and apparatus identification information identifying one of the one or more information processing apparatus storing the print job, and second circuitry to refer the association information and specify apparatus identification information of at least one of the one or more information processing apparatuses, and to transmit a list of information processing apparatuses through the network.

An image processing apparatus that performs print processing based on a job includes a reception unit configured to receive an operation performed by a user, a change unit configured to, in response to the reception unit receiving a predetermined operation, change a job on which the print processing is not yet completed to a suspended state, and a job control unit configured to, when detecting a logout event that causes a user who is logged into the image processing apparatus to log out of the image processing apparatus, resume at least one job and cancel a job or jobs that are not resumed by the job control unit selected from jobs changed by the change unit to be in the suspended state.

In an information processing apparatus, in a case where a particular notification is received via a first connection with any of one or more servers using a first protocol, a second connection with any of the one or more servers is established using a second protocol and data to be processed is acquired via the second connection. In a case where a particular status change occurs in the information processing apparatus, the second connection is established even in a state in which the first connection is not established, and status information is transmitted to any of the one or more servers.

An information processing device includes a retaining unit and an image display. The retaining unit retains image-formation-related information of an image forming apparatus that forms an image. The image display causes a display section of a portable terminal having the display section and an image capturing section to display an image for assisting with an operation of the image forming apparatus based on a captured image result of the image capturing section and the image-formation-related information retained in the retaining unit.

An image processing apparatus that performs print processing based on a job includes a reception unit configured to receive an operation performed by a user, a change unit configured to, in response to the reception unit receiving a predetermined operation, change a job on which the print processing is not yet completed to a suspended state, and a job control unit configured to, when detecting a logout event that causes a user who is logged into the image processing apparatus to log out of the image processing apparatus, resume at least one job and cancel a job or jobs that are not resumed by the job control unit selected from jobs changed by the change unit to be in the suspended state.

An electronic device, such as a digital camera, includes a deletion mode whereby a camera/electronic device user can delete captured images or data files that have already been transferred in order to make room in the electronic device or digital camera memory for capturing further images. In one embodiment, a digital camera keeps track of which images have already been transferred to an external storage device and presents those to the user as potential images to be deleted. In another embodiment, the user is presented with a delete all transferred images which when selected deletes all the captured images that have already been transferred. In still another embodiment, deletion criteria are used to prioritize which images are deleted first.
