Method for improved audio intelligibility in a converged communication system

A method and device for improved audio intelligibility in a converged land mobile radio (LMR)/broadband (BB) communications system is provided. A converged portable radio operating as part of a talkgroup in the LMR/BB system checks for predetermined triggers during standby that could cause receive radios of the talkgroup to receive degraded audio. If such a trigger is detected then the converged portable radio switches from the LMR system to the BB system and transmits a notification including a change system message to the other converged portable radios of the talkgroup. The notification is transmitted prior to any push-to-talk audio being transmitted from the originating radio. The converged portable radio can transmit, via a push-to-talk switch, narrowband (NB) audio and wideband (WB) audio in parallel over the BB system to the talkgroup subsequent to the detection of triggers and the sending of the notification.

This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. The communication method includes: An access stratum of a terminal device receives a quality of experience QoE measurement result and first indication information from an upper layer of the access stratum. The access stratum of the terminal device determines, based on the first indication information, to send the QoE measurement result to a master node or a secondary node of the terminal device. Therefore, in this application, the upper layer of the access stratum of the terminal device sends, to the access stratum, the QoE measurement result and the first indication information corresponding to the QoE measurement result, so that the terminal device in the MR-DC architecture can send the QoE measurement result to the correct access network device.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD WHERE MESSAGE LENGTH IS ASSIGNED BASED ON MESSAGE PREFERENCE
20230144207 · 2023-05-11 · ·

A method and communication system has been developed to increase the number of messages sent over a bandwidth limited channel and/or under noisy conditions by using a variable message length encoding and decoding scheme. With this technique, the messages having a higher probability of being sent are shorter as compared to the messages that are less likely to be sent under the current conditions. With this technique, a higher number of transactions per unit of time can be communicated and/or executed over a given bandwidth limited channel. When the transmitted message is received, the receiver does not know the message length, but the receiver deduces the length by using information from various error detection and correction techniques, such as forward error correction (FEC) and cyclic redundancy check (CRC) techniques.

Controlling carrier load based on distribution of secondary UE connections
11659536 · 2023-05-23 · ·

A method and system for controlling carrier load in a wireless communication system that supports multiple user equipment devices (UEs) each being primarily connected with a first access node on a first carrier and each having a respective secondary connection for dual-connectivity service. An example method includes (i) monitoring a distribution of the respective secondary connections of the UEs among being on a second carrier and being on a third carrier, the third carrier having wider bandwidth than the second carrier, (ii) based on the monitoring, determining that at least a predefined threshold portion of the UEs have their secondary connections on the third carrier rather than on the second carrier, and (iii) based at least on the determining, taking action to control load on the first carrier, such as limiting a maximum number of UEs allowed to be concurrently connected with the first access node on the first carrier.

LOCATION AWARE RADIO RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN CO-EXISTING PUBLIC AND NON-PUBLIC COMMUNICATION NETWORKS USING PREDICTIONS

A computer implemented method performed by a network node in a non-public communication network is provided. The method includes predicting a subsequent position of a first communication device served by a public communication network, wherein the first communication device is causing an interference level on the non-public communication network. The method further includes estimating a level of subsequent interference from the first communication device for the subsequent position. The method further includes initiating control of radio resources to reduce the estimated interference level from the first communication device.

5G ZERO TOUCH TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
20230199564 · 2023-06-22 ·

Embodiments are directed towards providing 5G zero touch traffic management of cells in a network. A target cell associated with a network objective is identified. One or more neighbor cells are also identified. Transmit power and tilt capabilities of the target cell are determined. An interference between the target cell and the one or more neighbor cells is also determined. An electrical antenna tilt adjustment or a transmit power adjustment is determined for the target cell to apply based on the transmit power capabilities, the tilt capabilities, the interference, and the network objective. The determined electrical antenna tilt adjustment or the determined transmit power adjustment are then provided to the target cell. If the network objective is met after the target cell applies the electrical antenna tilt adjustment or the determined transmit power adjustment, then the changes are confirmed, otherwise they are reversed.

RESOURCE UTILIZATION BASED EVENT TRIGGERING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support resource utilization based event triggering. A wireless node in a wireless communications system may establish a connection with a core network via a path that includes one or more relay nodes. The wireless node may determine that a network load associated with one or more paths between the wireless node and the core network has changed, or that a difference between two or more network loads of different paths has changed. Based on such a determination, the wireless node may transmit a report to the network. In some cases, the network may receive the report from the wireless node, and may initiate a path change based on the report.
