Managing battery power utilization in a mobile computing device

A mobile computing device has a processor and storage, connected to the processor and storing computer program instructions for an operating system for the computing device. The mobile computing device also may include a display and a communications radio. An electrical connection is provided for connection to a removable battery that provides power to the components of the mobile computing device. The mobile computing device also includes an auxiliary power source configured to provide power to the components of the mobile computing device when the removable battery is not supplying sufficient power. In response to the auxiliary power source being used, the operating system performs a set of actions that prioritize processes executed by the processor, manage power utilization by those processors, communicate information to the user about available power and, in some instances, gracefully degrade operation of the processes.

Mobile hotspot UFI device and start-up method
09763196 · 2017-09-12 · ·

The embodiments provide a mobile hotspot UFI device and a start-up method. The UFI device includes a battery, a main control chip, a power management chip and a start-up control unit. The power management chip internally provides a control signal at a first electric potential, and when the control signal is at a second electric potential, the power management chip controls the battery to supply electricity to hardware of the UFI device. When the main control chip does not output a GPIO signal, the start-up control unit conducts the external power supply to the control signal, so as to make the control signal change from the first electric potential to the second electric potential. When the main control chip outputs the GPIO signal, the start-up control unit disconnects the external power supply from the control signal.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the status of a boat

A status monitoring system and the devices used for the status monitoring system is disclosed. The status monitoring system includes a controller device, a plurality of rod monitoring devices, and a motor monitoring device which works together to provide a layered approach to securing the boat. The controller device is configured to communicate with a smart device via cellular network. The controller device triggers an alert once it detects unexpected events on the boat or receives intrusion notifications from other devices in the status monitoring system. Unexpected events can include the boat moving out of the geofence, boat vibration, and unexpected starting of the vehicle. A method for monitoring the status of the boat is also disclosed. The method can include receiving an activation signal, receiving a GPS signal, receiving vibration signals, energizing the siren and transmitting notification and boat location to the cloud when detecting at least one trigger.

Thermal mitigation in devices with multiple processing units

A method of thermal mitigation in a device having a plurality of non-real-time processing units (PUs) and a plurality of real-time PUs, including connecting each of the plurality of real-time PUs and the plurality of non-real-time PUs to a first power supply, and performing thermal mitigation. Performing thermal mitigation includes disconnecting each of the plurality of non-real-time PUs except one of the plurality of non-real-time PUs from the first power supply resulting in an active non-real-time PU, and connecting a second power supply that derives power from the first power supply to the active non-real-time PU, wherein a voltage supplied by the second power supply is less than a voltage supplied by the first power supply.

Field-powered biometric device, and method of controlling a field-powered biometric device

A method of controlling operation of a field-powered biometric device comprising biometric acquisition circuitry, processing circuitry controllable to transition between a first functional state having a first power consumption and a second functional state having a second power consumption lower than the first power consumption, and power management circuitry. The method comprises the steps of monitoring, by the power management circuitry, a property indicative of a supply voltage to the processing circuitry; controlling, when the monitored property indicates that the supply voltage has fallen to a first threshold voltage, the processing circuitry to transition from the first functional state to the second functional state; and controlling, when the monitored property indicates that the supply voltage has increased to a second threshold voltage higher than the first threshold voltage, the processing circuitry to transition from the second functional state to the first functional state.

A method for communication on multiple links is performed by an access point, and includes: determining a first message frame, wherein the first message frame includes wake-up information for indicating a wake-up state of one or more links, and the wake-up information is configured to identify to wake up a corresponding link to receive a cached downlink data frame; and sending the first message frame.

CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR POWER SWITCH
20210359679 · 2021-11-18 ·

A control circuit for a main switch is provided. The control circuit includes an output voltage tracker, a main switch bias generator, and a reference current device. The output voltage tracker is coupled to the main output end and generates a first tracking voltage positively correlated to an output voltage. The main switch bias generator, in response to the first tracking voltage, generates a second tracking voltage substantially equal to the output voltage. The reference current device is coupled to the main switch bias generator and is used to generate a control voltage on a main control end. The reference current device is used to limit the maximum value of the output current. The main switch and a duplicating switching element of the main switch bias generator form a current mirror configuration circuit. The consuming current of the output voltage tracker is positively correlated to the output current.
