A wiper system includes a wiper blade to wipe a windshield, an angle sensor, and a motor. The motor drives the wiper blade to reverse a wipe operation of the wiper blade at a reversal position based on the angle sensor, such that rotation of the motor when the wiper blade moves to a released position is reversed to rotation of the motor when the wiper blade moves to a standby position. A first heating element is installed near a front pillar and generates heat when energized. A determiner determines whether snow accumulates on a surface of the windshield based on an operation of the wiper system. A controller controls energization of the first heating element and energizes the first heating element on determination of the determiner that snow accumulates on the surface of the windshield.

A brake system comprising a brake disc, a wheel hub connected to the brake disc, and a bearing assembly mounted around the wheel hub, the brake system further comprising: a first electric circuit embedded inside the brake disc; a second electric circuit embedded inside the wheel hub and electrically connected with the first electric circuit; and a third electric circuit embedded inside the bearing assembly and electrically connected with the second electric circuit, wherein when an electric current flows to the first electric circuit through the second and third electric circuits, the first electric circuit generates heat for applying to the brake disc.

Deicer zones with shedding-enhanced borders

An ice protection system comprises deicing zones each including an envelope defining an ice-protection area. Adjacent envelopes have spanwise edge regions flanking shared interzone borders. The edge regions are provided with nonlinear contours having features which project-and-recess in a direction generally parallel to the airstream direction.

MULTILAYER STRUCTURE WITH CARBON NANOTUBE HEATERS

A multilayer heating structure for controlling ice accumulation on a surface of an aircraft includes a carbon nano-tube (CNT) heater. The heater includes: a CNT layer; a first encapsulation layer disposed on a first side of the CNT layer formed of a first encapsulation layer thermoplastic material; and a second encapsulation layer disposed on a second side of the CNT layer formed of a second encapsulation layer thermoplastic material. The structure further includes for and aft composite structures. The first and second encapsulation layer thermoplastic materials have higher melting temperatures that one or both the fore composite structure thermoplastic material and the aft composite structure thermoplastic material.

Engine pre-heating system and method for multiple vehicles

An engine pre-heating system includes a housing that houses a climate control heating element and a controller configured in the housing. The controller generates an energizing signal for controlling an amount of electrical power provided to multiple engine heating elements that are thermally coupled to the engines of multiple vehicles. The controller also generates a climate control signal for controlling the climate controlled heating element to maintain the controller inside the housing within a specified temperature range. The energizing signal provided to the engine heating elements is inversely proportional to an ambient temperature proximate the engines.
