Various embodiments are generally directed to providing a fuse with one or more walls for suppressing an arc during a fuse explosion and one or more methods for making the same. A fuse may include: a housing having an interior cavity and an outer cavity, a fuse element disposed within the interior cavity, a plurality of terminals extending out of the housing and electrically connected to the fuse element, and an arc-suppression wall disposed in the interior cavity that is configured to suppress an electric arc associated with the fuse element opening.

Fuse manufacturing method and fuse

The present invention provides a fuse manufacturing method and a fuse that facilitate an assembling work of the fuse. Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a fuse including a fuse element including a pair of terminal portions and a fusing portion between the terminal portions, a casing for accommodating the fuse element, and a cap for closing openings at both ends of the casing. In this fuse manufacturing method, the fuse element is positioned in the casing such that the terminal portion of the fuse element protrudes from the opening of the casing, and a holding plate for holding the fuse element is inserted between a peripheral portion of the opening of the casing and an abutment piece provided at the terminal portion of the fuse element. Further, in this method, the opening of the casing is closed by the cap so as to cover the holding plate.

SUBSEA FUSE DEVICE

Example embodiments relate a subsea fuse device exposed to a high ambient pressure when deployed. The fuse device comprises a metallic fuse housing enclosing a low-pressure hollow space and a fuse arranged in the low-pressure hollow space, the fuse having two electrical connectors, wherein one of the electrical connectors of the fuse is electrically and thermoconductively coupled to the metallic fuse housing so as to provide an electrical connection between the fuse connector and the housing and to dissipate heat from the fuse.

SMD fuse with pre-molded shield

A fuse shield features a cylindrical body, a first cap cover, a second cap cover, and a stop region. The cylindrical body is adapted to be placed over and partially surround a cylindrical fuse. The cylindrical body is sandwiched between the first and second cap covers. The stop region is located on an edge of the first cap cover to limit rotation of the cylindrical fuse to a first degree in one direction on a flat surface.

Fuse element and fuse

A fuse element for a fuse with an integrated measurement function, includes a first receiving area in an embodiment, for receiving a melting conductor of the fuse, delimited in the length direction of the fuse by a closure element and in a direction orthogonal to the length direction by the fuse element. Further, in an embodiment, the fuse element has a second receiving area, physically separated from the first receiving area, for receiving a measuring device of the fuse. The second receiving area is designed to receive the measuring device in a wall section of the fuse element. The second receiving area formed in the fuse element protects the measuring device arranged therein against interfering environmental influences. The measuring device is used to ascertain the electric current flowing through the fuse directly on the fuse.

A fuse includes multiple stacked layers, a first terminal, and a second terminal. The first terminal is connected to one end of a fusible element and the second terminal is connected to the other end. The stacked layers include first and second intermediate layers and a special layer. The first intermediate layer, which has a centrally disposed opening, is stacked on the first terminal and the second terminal. The second intermediate layer, also having a centrally disposed opening is stacked above the first intermediate layer, and the centrally disposed openings define a chamber above the fusible element. The special layer is located between the first intermediate layer and the second intermediate layer and includes one or more geometric elements. The geometric elements divide the chamber into two sub-chambers, the first sub-chamber being above the second sub-chamber.
