The pump has an impeller that has a cover, a base with an axis of rotation, and at least one fin protruding from the base. The impeller also has a cap removably coupled to the impeller and at least one blade integrally formed with the cap.

A lint removal system for a laundry appliance includes a lint washing assembly adapted to deliver wet lint to a disposal area. An impeller is disposed within a continuous processing chamber of a pump casing, the impeller operable to deliver a fluid from the disposal area to a drain outlet. A blade assembly is disposed within the continuous processing chamber, the blade assembly rotationally operable to process the wet lint from the disposal area to define lint particles that are delivered with the fluid to the drain outlet.

A dishwasher includes a filtration system that can be configured in a chopping or filtration only arrangement. A check valve cover attached to an accumulator is inserted into a main intake of a sump and divides the main intake into a fluid recirculation chamber in communication with a recirculation intake port, and a separate fluid draining chamber in communication with a drain port. When a drain pump is actuated, fluid is pulled from the accumulator through the drain port until pressure within the fluid draining chamber drops below the pressure of the sump and a check valve in the check valve cover is forced open, allowing fluid to be channeled out of the fluid recirculation chamber into the fluid draining chamber. Optionally, a fine filter system can replace the convertible filtration system, whereby the main intake is in fluid communication with both the recirculation intake port and the drain port.

A dishwasher with a tub at least partially defining a treating chamber, a liquid spraying system supplying a spray of liquid to the treating chamber, a liquid recirculation system defining a recirculation flow path, and a liquid filtering system having a rotating filter. A chopping system is included to macerate foreign objects within the recirculation flow path and includes a blade mounted to the rotating filter.
