Visualization systems using structured light
A visualization system including multiple light sources, an image sensor configured to detect imaging data from the multiple light sources, and a control circuit is disclosed. At least one of the light sources is configured to emit a pattern of structured light. The control circuit is configured to receive the imaging data from the image sensor, generate a three-dimensional digital representation of the anatomical structure from the pattern of structured light detected by the imaging data, obtain metadata from the imaging data, overlay the metadata on the three-dimensional digital representation, receive updated imaging data from the image sensor, and generate an updated three-dimensional digital representation of the anatomical structure based on the updated imaging data. The visualization system can be communicatively coupled to a situational awareness module configured to determine a surgical scenario based on input signals from multiple surgical devices.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO SHAPE FLEXIBLE ENTRY GUIDES FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
In one embodiment of the invention, an apparatus for performing surgical procedures is disclosed including a flexible entry guide tube, and a first steering device. The flexible entry guide tube has one or more lumens extending along its length from a proximal end to substantially at or near a distal end. At least one of the one or more lumens is an instrument lumen with open ends to receive a flexible shaft of a surgical tool to perform surgery near the distal end of the flexible entry guide tube. The first steering device is insertable into the instrument lumen to shape the flexible entry guide tube as it is inserted through an opening in a body and along a path towards a surgical site. The apparatus may further include a flexible locking device to couple to the flexible entry guide tube and selectively rigidize the flexible entry guide tube to hold its shape. The flexible entry guide tube may be steered by remote control with one or more actuators.
ENDOSCOPE WIPER BLADE CLEANER
A minimally invasive surgical instrument including a viewing instrument and a wiper mechanism configured and adapted to clean a lens of the viewing instrument. The wiper mechanism includes a wiper that is configured and adapted to contact and translate across a surface of the lens. An actuator moves the wiper across the lens to clean the lens.
Imaging element cleaning apparatus with structure-mandated cleaning member motion control
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to providing an effective and reliable approach for cleaning an exposed surface of an imaging element (e.g., a lens) of apparatuses including but not limited to medical imaging instruments such as endoscopes and laparoscopes and the like. In the case of medical imaging instruments, cleaning apparatuses configured in accordance with embodiments the present invention can be cleaned while the distal end portion of the endoscope is in vivo. Such apparatuses have a cleaning member incorporated therein (e.g., a resilient polymeric wiper, a sponge, an absorbent pad or the like) that is used for cleaning the exposed surface of the imaging element. The apparatus is preferably adapted for being mounted on the imaging apparatus but can also be entirely or partially integral with one or more components of the imaging apparatus or system of which it is a component.

Provided in accordance with the present disclosure is a diagnostic and a therapeutic bronchoscopy system for localized delivery of medication within the lungs. Specifically, systems and methods are disclosed for creating a functional and anatomical map of the lungs, diagnosing a condition within the lungs, generating a treatment plan for a target site within the lungs, navigating to the target site, administering a treatment directly to the target site for immediate absorption within the target site, and assessing the efficacy of the treatment.

A cover (1) for a shaft of a medical scoping device comprises tubular member (2) arranged for application on the distal tip of the medical scoping device. The cover (1) comprises a plurality of projecting elements (3) spaced apart circumferentially around the tubular member (2), each projecting element having a base portion (13) and an arm portion. The projecting elements are pivotably mounted on the tubular member about a pivot axis. The base portion (13) comprises a detent (20), and the tubular member comprises a contact region, for example a protuberance (23), said contact region being located such that pivoting movement of the projecting element for moving the arm portion in a distal direction can effect impacting of the detent (20) on the contact region (23).
Oximetry Device with Laparoscopic Extension
A laparoscopic medical device includes an oximeter sensor at its tip, which allows the making of oxygen saturation measurements laparoscopically. The device can be a unitary design, wherein a laparoscopic element includes electronics for the oximeter sensor at a distal end (e.g., opposite the tip). The device can be a multiple piece design (e.g., two-piece design), where some electronics is in a separate housing from the laparoscopic element, and the pieces (or portions) are removably connected together. The laparoscopic element can be removed and disposed of; so, the electronics can be reused multiple times with replacement laparoscopic elements. The electronics can include a processing unit for control, computation, or display, or any combination of these. However, in an implementation, the electronics can connect wirelessly to other electronics (e.g., another processing unit) for further control, computation, or display, or any combination of these.
LUNG BIOPSY DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING AND BIOPSYING AN OBJECT

Illumination from the light source facilitates positioning of the system by an operator using information from the camera.
