The diodes are positioned in the shadows of the cells. The diodes provide direct pathways for heat and electricity from the cells to the substrate.

The method includes providing a substrate member having a surface region, the surface region comprising a spatial region, a first end strip comprising a first edge region and a first interior region, the first interior region comprising a first bus bar, a plurality of strips, a second end strip comprising a second edge region and a second interior region, the second edge region comprising a second bus bar, the first end strip, the plurality of strips, and the second end strip arranged in parallel to each other and occupying the spatial region such that the first end strip, the second end strip, and the plurality of strips consists of a total number of five (5) strips. The method includes separating each of the plurality of strips, arranging the plurality of strips in a string configuration, and using the string in the solar module.

SOLAR CELLS FOR A SOLAR CELL ARRAY

A solar cell for a solar cell array with one or more grid on a surface thereof, wherein electrical connections are made to the grids in a plurality of locations positioned around the solar cell; and the electrical connections extend to one or more conductors located under the solar cell. The conductors located under the solar cell are buried within a substrate, and each of the conductors comprises a low resistance conducting path that distributes current from the solar cell. The conductors are loops, U-shaped, or have only up or down pathways. The solar cell comprises a full cell that has four cropped corners and the locations are in the cropped corners.

Method for blackening a metallic article

A method includes providing an electrically conductive mandrel having an outer surface layer comprising a preformed pattern. The metallic article is electroformed. The metallic article includes a plurality of electroformed elements formed in the preformed pattern on the outer surface layer of the mandrel. The plurality of electroformed elements have a first side adjacent to the outer surface layer of the mandrel and a second side. The metallic article is separated from the mandrel. The plurality of electroformed elements are interconnected such that the metallic article forms a unitary, free-standing piece. A solution is applied to create a blackening of the first side of the plurality of electroformed elements.

Each solar cell is individually addressable through the use of the interconnect circuit. Moreover, the interconnect circuit of the back sheet is programmable and allows for dynamic interconnect routing between solar cells.

The present disclosure relates to large cell sheets, solar cells, shingled solar modules, and manufacturing method thereof. A top surface of a boundary portion of units of the large cell sheet is divided into a cutting area, top surface bonding areas and top surface electrically-conductive contact areas. The cutting area is configured in a way that the large cell sheet can be cut along the cutting area; the top surface bonding areas and the top surface electrically-conductive contact areas are provided alternately, the cutting area and the top surface electrically-conductive contact areas are formed as an overlapping edge of the solar cell, and after the splitting of the large cell sheet, the top surface electrically-conductive contact areas can directly contact the bottom surface of another solar cell to achieve electrically-conductive connection. The large cell sheet according to the present disclosure can be split conveniently, and the individual solar cells are provided with dedicated bonding areas and electrically-conductive contact areas. Such an arrangement can optimize the production process and use performance of the solar cells.

Each of the plurality of first solar cell strings (51) and each of the plurality of second solar cell strings (52) are aligned alternately along the second direction (D2) that is orthogonal to the first direction (D1).

METHOD FOR BLACKENING AN ELECTRICAL CONDUIT

A method of removing a plurality of portions of a black layer of an electrical conduit for a photovoltaic cell is disclosed. The method includes providing a mandrel having the electrical conduit electroformed in the mandrel. The electrical conduit is formed in a preformed pattern on an outer surface of the mandrel. The electrical conduit has the black layer with a black layer thickness on a side opposite of the outer surface of the mandrel. A beam of a laser is controlled toward the black layer of the electrical conduit. The beam is characterized by laser parameters. The beam of the laser removes the plurality of portions of the black layer on the electrical conduit. Each removed portion of the plurality of portions of the black layer has a thickness equal to the black layer thickness, and a portion area of 5 mm.sup.2 to 20 mm.sup.2.

At least one solar cell is mounted to a flexible substrate using an adhesive, wherein: the flexible substrate includes at least one insulating layer and at least one conductive layer patterned on the insulating layer as one or more traces for making electrical connections with the solar cell; the traces on the flexible substrate are unencapsulated and at least some of the traces remain exposed after the solar cell is mounted to the flexible substrate; the solar cell is positioned above the traces on the flexible substrate; and a backside metal layer of the solar cell does not make contact to the traces on the flexible substrate when the solar cell is mounted on the flexible substrate. The result is a rollable solar array or panel having a reduced stress energy and a reduced minimum rolling radius as compared to a baseline solar cell mounted to a baseline flexible substrate.

A high efficiency configuration for a solar cell module comprises solar cells conductively bonded to each other in a shingled manner to form super cells, which may be arranged to efficiently use the area of the solar module, reduce series resistance, and increase module efficiency.
