HOSPITAL BED SCALE CALIBRATION METHODS AND PATIENT POSITION MONITORING METHODS
A patient support apparatus includes a load frame, a support frame, and a plurality of load cells supporting the load frame on the support frame such that a load supported by the load frame is supported by the load cells, each load cell configured to produce a signal indicative of a load weight bearing upon that load cell. The load cells are calibrated after installation.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING AND TREATING DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS
In some aspects, a computer-implemented method is disclosed for gathering and processing sensor data to identify a risk of impacting or causing a skin injury. The computer-implemented method can include: receiving, via a computer network, sensor feature data representing output of a user sensor configured to be worn on a limb of a user; generating activity classification model output data using the sensor feature data and an activity classification model, the activity classification model output data representing likelihoods that the sensor feature data corresponds to each of a plurality of different activity classifications; determining an activity classification from the activity classification model output data; and transmitting, via the computer network, display data representing the activity classification to a computing device configured to present the display data.
PATIENT MOVEMENT AND INCONTINENCE NOTIFICATION DEVICES
A notification device is provided that includes a sensor pad, and an electronics module generates one or more notifications in response to signals received from the sensor pad. In a first embodiment, the sensor pad includes a pressure sensor for sensing pressure applied by a patient and generating a pressure signal, and conductive tracings for sensing moisture due to incontinence and generating a moisture detection signal when moisture is detected. In another embodiment, an absorbent sensor pad includes a sensor pad for sensing moisture and includes an absorbent chuck having a moisture-impermeable sheet with an absorbent material on an upper surface thereof, wherein the moisture-impermeable sheet has an aperture for receiving the sensor pad. The absorbent sensor pad may be provided in the form of a diaper.
PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS WITH CAREGIVER REMINDERS
A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, operating table, recliner, or the like, includes a patient support structure, a user interface, a display, a plurality of lights, and a controller. The user interface comprises a display and controls for configuring various components of the patient support apparatus. The controller uses the lights and/or display to issue one or more reminders to the caregiver to put the patient support apparatus in a desired configuration before the caregiver walks away from the patient support apparatus. The reminders help ensure that the caregiver properly configured the patient support apparatus. In some embodiment, the reminders include pulsing the lights in an unobtrusive, but easily seen, manner until the proper configuration is achieved. Reminders may also be implemented by prohibiting certain functionality until the patient support apparatus is properly configured.
PATIENT BED-EXIT PREDICTION AND DETECTION
Methods, systems, and devices for predicting bed-exit of a patient are described. Methods may include receiving pressure data from a pressure sensor disposed under the patient, receiving accelerometry data from an accelerometer coupled with the patient, detecting movement of the patient based at least in part on the pressure data and the accelerometry data, and determining whether the detected movement is indicative of bed-exit based at least in part on the detected movement. Systems may include a pressure sensor configured to collect pressure data associated with movement of the patient, an accelerometer configured to collect accelerometry data associated with movement of the patient, and a central aggregator configured to determine whether the movement of the patient is indicative of bed-exit based at least in part on the collected pressure data and the collected accelerometry data.
SENSOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EVALUATING ACTIVITY
Systems and methods are discussed for providing sensor enhanced safety, recovery, and activity evaluation systems. Sensors that monitor user activity and behavior are worn by a user and/or placed in the user environment. Data from the sensors are processed to obtain a safety, recovery, and/or activity evaluation. Based on the evaluation, recommendations or adjustments to the terms of an insurance policy covering the user, the user's employer, or a facility providing health care to the user, are generated, to accurately reflect the risks associated with the user, employer, and/or facility. In embodiments, an alert may be generated when a failure to conform with activity guidelines is detected.
MONITORING A SLEEPING SUBJECT
Apparatus and methods are described, including apparatus for use with a subject who shares a bed with a second person. A motion sensor detects motion of the subject and motion of the second person, and generates a motion signal in response thereto. A control unit identifies components of the motion signal that were generated in response to motion of the subject, by distinguishing between components of the motion signal that were generated in response to motion of the subject, and components of the motion signal that were generated in response to motion of the second person. The control unit analyzes the components of the motion signal that were generated in response to motion of the subject and generates an output in response thereto. Other applications are also described.
Systems, devices and methods for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers, bed exits, falls, and other conditions
Methods, systems and devices for monitoring patient orientation, direction, altitude and location to determine the need for turns as well as to detect impending or actual bed exits or falls. A patient-worn sensor communicates with at least one host server through a mesh network of relay antennae to provide data representative of various patient characteristics. The sensor comprises one or more of an accelerometer, a magnetometer and an altimeter, along with optional other sensors. Various user interfaces are provided for managing patient care using the information developed by algorithms processed at the server based on data received from the patient sensors.
MONITORING DEVICE, MONITORING SYSTEM, MONITORING METHOD, MONITORING PROGRAM, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIA WITH MONITORING PROGRAM RECORDING THEREON
A position identifying unit is configured to identify the location of a monitored person in the horizontal direction and maximum height of the monitored person in the vertical direction on the basis of top-down image data acquired by an upper image sensor provided above a monitored area capturing an image of the monitored area and lateral image data acquired by a lateral image sensor provided along a side of the monitored area capturing an image of the monitored area. An event determining unit assesses a fall-related event for the monitored person on the basis of a location in the horizontal direction, a maximum height in the vertical direction.
