Methods and systems are provided for adjusting settings of an ultrasound exam based on monitoring of the exam with an optical camera. One example method includes acquiring images of an ultrasound exam via a camera, analyzing the acquired images in real-time to build a spatial exam model, and adjusting settings of the ultrasound exam in real-time based on the spatial exam model.

Techniques for determining characteristics of dialysis access sites using image information

A dialysis access site monitoring system may generate a treatment recommendation for treating a condition of an access site based on a video of the access site. The dialysis access site monitoring system may include an apparatus having a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory may include instructions that, when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to generate video information based on a video of a dialysis access site of a patient, determine change in the number of pixels (CNP) information of the video information, the CNP information associated with movement of a skin surface of the patient due to blood flow through the dialysis access site, determine frequency domain information of the CNP information, determine a maximum-to-median power (M2) value of the frequency domain information, and determine at least one access site characteristic based on the M2 value.

COMPUTER IMPLEMENTED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CORRECT NECK POSTURE

The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system and method for preventing users from bending their necks too far forward or past thirty degrees away from vertical during viewing of a handheld electronic device. The system uses a computer-implemented application installed in the device that determines flexion of the user's neck and compares with a threshold to determine a ‘tech neck’ condition. The application generates an alert displayed on the screen of the device to indicate the ‘tech neck’ condition and further, can pause or hang the display when the ‘tech neck’ condition is continued to be determined. The system and method assist in preventing injuries, strains and disabilities to both children and adults that use electronic devices for extended periods of time.

An illumination source may be configured to illuminate the skin of the user. An illumination detector may detect electromagnetic radiation reflected of the skin of the user. A compensation module may be configured to determine the position of the skin of the user relative to the illumination detector. A processor may be configured to determine a heart rate of the user by analyzing information corresponding to an amount of the electromagnetic radiation detected by the illumination detector. The processor may also determine the heart rate of the user by compensating for the position of the skin of the user as determined by the compensation module.

Specialized sensors and techniques for monitoring personal activity

New activity recognition, recording, analysis and control techniques, systems and sensors are provided. In one embodiment, multiple sensory tags with unique identification and data transfer attributes, create positional, movement, orientation and acceleration data and supply it to a control system. The tags may be placed at location(s) on the user's body, clothing, personal effects, exercise equipment and other activity-relevant locations, to enhance activity recognition and mapping. The system may define a personal activity space, sample data preferentially from that space, and perform a simplified form of object-recognition to determine, record and analyze user activities.

A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a ball and socket joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.
