Medical device for therapeutic stimulation of the vestibular system
A method for providing vestibular stimulation includes: providing an infant in a vestibular stimulation device; associating sensors to the infant; moving the vestibular stimulation device to provide vestibular stimulation treatment; and obtaining sensor data during the treatment. The vestibular stimulation device includes a holder member; a platform; a mechanical system coupling the holder member to the platform; sensors configured to detect one or more parameters of the infant; and a computing system having a user input and/or output interface operably coupled to the mechanical system and the sensors to provide mechanical data to the mechanical system in order to control movement of the holder member relative to the platform and to collect the one or more parameters of the living subject from the sensors.
MULTI-PERSON VITAL SIGNS MONITORING USING MILLIMETER WAVE (MM-WAVE) SIGNALS
A mm-wave system includes transmission of a millimeter wave (mm-wave) signal by a plurality of transmitters to multiple objects, and receiving of return—mm-wave signals from the multiple objects by a plurality of receivers. A processor is configured to perform an algorithm to derive complex-valued samples and angle measurements from each receiver to identify one object from another object. The processor further extracts signal waveforms that correspond to each object and process the extracted signal waveforms to estimate breathing rate and heart rate of the identified object.
Methods and devices to improve the efficacy of mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation by changing the position of chest compression
A system and method for mechanical CPR can include a device for providing compressive force to various locations on a patient, and biological monitoring systems to measure the effectiveness of the various locations of compressive force in pumping blood through the patient. The system can also include providing decompressive force to increase the efficacy of blood flow.
Method and apparatus for capture of physiological signals and image data
In a method and an image capturing system (5) for capturing signals and image data of a volume segment of an examination object, raw data of the volume segment are captured, and image time stamps are captured at which certain of the raw data are captured. Physiological signals of the examination object are captured at the same time as capturing the raw data. Signal time stamps are captured at which certain of the physiological signals are captured. The capture of the raw data and the capture of the physiological signals is controlled by the same processor of the image capturing system, so that both the image time stamps and the signal time stamps are predetermined by the same processor.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF IDENTIFYING MOTION OF A SUBJECT
Systems and methods of identifying medical disorders in one or more subjects are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, sound is transmitted toward a subject and at least a portion of the sound reflected by the subject and is acquired as echo data. The acquired echo data is used to generate a motion waveform having a plurality of peaks detected therein. At feast a portion of the plurality of peaks may be indicative of movement of the subject. One or more medical disorders in the subject can be identified based on, for example, time durations and/or amplitude changes between peaks detected in the motion waveform.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SENSING PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
A device and related method for determining a physiological characteristic of a user, the device including a case having a display disposed on a major face of the case, the case containing a motion sensor configured to measure a signal representative of the physiological characteristic of the user when the case is in contact with the user's body, and a processor configured to receive data characteristic of the signal from the motion sensor, process the data from the motion sensor to determine the physiological characteristic, compare the processed data to at least one of a predetermined threshold or a pattern to determine a quality thereof, and provide feedback to the user to suggest an action by the user to improve a quality of the signal measurement, when the determined quality of the processed data is below a quality associated with the predetermined threshold or pattern.
Monitoring of vital body signals during movement
In a multi-sensor system and method of monitoring vital body signals during movement of a body of a human or an animal, acceleration sensors are placed at body locations in such a way that an acceleration angle change induced by the vital body signals differs between the at least two acceleration sensors. The retrieval of the vital body signals is achieved by extracting a wanted vital body signal based on measurement results from multiple sensors that may be motion contaminated. Three retrieval schemes are proposed, each with preferred sensor locations that provide optimal performance of retrieving the vital body signal(s).
Multi modal method and system for transmitting information about a subject
The present invention is directed to multimodal communications means for transmitting signals representing physiological, performance, and contextual information associated with a subject. In an exemplary embodiment, the multimodal communications means includes multiple radio subsystems (or modes) that enable connection to an external monitoring device to be acquired in a wide range of settings where a single radio mode would be ineffective. Additionally, combining the multimodal communications means of the invention with real-time data-processing allows the communications functionality to be engaged only when data determined to be relevant to the user is identified.
NEONATAL VITAL SIGNS MONITOR
The present invention is directed to a sensing modality for measurement of vital signs, particularly in neonates, using inkjet-printed sensors in order to create a low cost and computationally less-intensive monitor. The invention incorporates the use of sensors specifically design to measure abdominal flex as a measure of their respiration rate. Neonates in particular exhibit abdominal flex during respiration. The flex sensor can be coupled with other off-the-shelf sensors or sensors made using same principles, connected together to a phone through the AUX port of a cell phone or other device for data collection and processing. The sensor can also be configured to communicate wirelessly with a computing device, such as a smartphone.
PRESTRAIN ADHESIVE FOR EXTERNAL RESPIRATORY MEASUREMENT SENSORS
The present invention is directed to the standardization of prestrain applied to a sensor of an external respiratory measurement device. The method may comprise sandwiching the sensor between two adhesive layers and stretching the sensor by a fixed amount in order to match the length of the device to the length of a support layer. The device may then be covered by the support layer in order to keep the sensor in a state of prestrain, such that the length of the device matches the length of the support layer. The device may then be applied to the surface by the lower adhesive layer, and the support layer may then be removed, thus leaving the sensor in a standardized and optimal state of prestrain.
