ATTACHMENT OF MEMBRANES FOR TRANSDERMAL DEVICES
20220023229 · 2022-01-27 ·

An adhesive patch for securing a transdermal device to the skin comprises a double-sided adhesive layer. A permeable membrane element is located in an aperture in the adhesive layer. There is a small area of overlap where the adhesive layer adheres to the membrane element to secure it against movement during application and use of the patch.

A sensor (220) for a body monitoring system (1), having analyte-measuring microneedles (210) that extend parallel to a main direction (Z) from a substrate (242) and define a working plane (Pt), wherein the sensor (220) has at least one conductivity electrode (600) with a metallic track (602), the end of the metallic track extending along the main direction (Z) to a position strictly between the substrate (242) and the working plane (Pt).

INTERSTITIAL FLUID EXTRACTION

A device for collection of interstitial fluid that can perform needle assembly actuation, skin piercing, needle assembly repositioning, and secondary skin piercing. Also described is a method for extraction of ISF that results in a significant volume of extracted ISF. The presently described device and method can be used for interstitial fluid extraction and collection in the medical diagnostics field.

Systems and techniques for monitoring subjects

The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for monitoring and/or providing feedback for drugs or other pharmaceuticals taken by a subject. In one aspect, the present invention is directed to devices and methods for determining a species within the skin of a subject; and producing feedback to a subject based on the determination of the species. The feedback may be, for example, visual, audible, tactile, a change in temperature, etc. In some cases, information regarding the determination of the species may be transmitted to another entity, e.g., a health care provider, a computer, a relative, etc., which may then provide feedback to the subject in some fashion. In some cases, the feedback may be directly indicative of the species. However, the feedback may also be indirect in some embodiments.

MICRONEEDLE ARRAY AND SENSOR INCLUDING THE SAME

The microneedle array includes a substrate having a central opening formed therethrough, and a plurality of microneedles positioned about a perimeter defining the central opening. At least one of the microneedles has a recess formed therein adjacent a tip thereof, and this recess is at least partially filled with a layer of active material. A sensor for detecting chemical analytes, biological analytes or the like may be constructed by providing two such microneedle arrays, with one serving as the working electrode and one serving as a reference electrode. The working electrode and the reference electrode may both be connected to a signal analyzer for detecting electrochemical signals. The working electrode and the reference electrode may be separate from one another or may be stacked together.

Apparatus and method for delivery of antimicrobial during a transdermal sampling and delivery process

A device for introducing at least one antimicrobial in an exposed region of a user's skin caused while accessing interstitial fluid includes a substrate having thereon at least one electrically controllable microheating element including at least a microheater portion with multiple electrodes connected to the microheater portion for forming a micropore in the user's skin. A nanofiber mat loaded with at least one antimicrobial material is arranged on the substrate such that it contacts the user's skin and encircles an opening of the micropore formed by the microheating element. In a preferred embodiment, the at least one antimicrobial material is LL-37.
