An air bubble removal cap includes: a main body portion that is formed in a tubular shape and defines a hollow portion inside, the hollow portion being configured to communicate with a collection tube that accommodates a body fluid from a living body; a connection portion that is located on a proximal side of the hollow portion and to which the collection tube is connectable; an exhaust portion that is located on a distal side of the hollow portion and is configured to discharge gas discharged from the collection tube; a filter that is disposed in the hollow portion and divides the exhaust portion and the connection portion; and a scattering prevention mechanism that covers a proximal side of the filter and prevents the body fluid from scattering to the filter.

Blood Collection Device for Small Volume Sample Acquisition Through Peripheral Intravenous Catheters

Provided herein is a blood collection device having a tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a sidewall therebetween defining an interior, the interior configured to receive a blood sample through one or more openings at the distal end of the tube when the distal end of the tube is positioned in a blood vessel and an obturator slidably disposed relative to the tube and received within the interior of the tube.

Blood Access Device with Integrated Blood Diagnostics

A blood sample collection system includes a blood access device having a fluid flow path and a diagnostic device configured to receive a sample of blood, where the diagnostic device is in fluid communication with the fluid flow path, and where the diagnostic device is configured to be detached from the blood access device.

Flexible Shield for Reducing Tubing Buckling in Blood Collection Device

A medical device includes a catheter having proximal and distal ends, and defining a lumen, an introducer having proximal and distal ends, and defining an inner volume configured to movably receive the catheter. The distal end of the introducer has a lock configured to couple the introducer to an intravenous line, the introducer having a flexible member arranged within the inner volume configured to limit deflection of the catheter as the catheter is moved within the introducer, and an actuator movably coupled to the introducer. The actuator has a first portion disposed outside the introducer and a second portion disposed in the inner volume of the introducer and coupled to the catheter. The actuator configured to move relative to the introducer to move the catheter between first and second positions, such that the first portion is disposed within the intravenous line when the introducer is coupled to the intravenous line.

Blood Collection Device

A blood collection device for medical use having a body with longitudinal flow channel and a needle retraction chamber, a slide assembly slidably engaging the body in a plane transverse to the flow channel through the body, a forwardly projecting nose, a device stabilization member with flexible wings projecting oppositely from a cylindrical hub attached to the nose, a rearwardly biased venipuncture needle projecting forwardly from the nose, and a tubular needle cap having proximal and distal ends, wherein the proximal end of the tubular needle cap is insertable between and is releasably held by the nose and the cylindrical hub. Cooperatively configured sets of ramps and stop surfaces limit lateral sliding movement of the body relative to the slide assembly.

FLUID DIVERSION MECHANISM FOR BODILY-FLUID SAMPLING

An apparatus includes a housing, a flow control mechanism, and an actuator. At least a portion of the flow control mechanism is movably disposed within the housing. The apparatus further includes an inlet port and an outlet port, and defines a fluid reservoir. The outlet port is fluidically coupled to a second fluid reservoir and is fluidically isolated from the first fluid reservoir. The actuator is configured to move the flow control mechanism between a first configuration, in which the inlet port is placed in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir such that the fluid reservoir receives a first flow of bodily-fluid, and a second configuration, in which the inlet port is placed in fluid communication with the outlet port.

Safety syringe having a manually activated retractable needle

A retractable needle assembly includes a housing having a sidewall defining a hollow bore, and an elongate plunger, the distal end of the plunger forming a reservoir within the hollow bore for containing a fluid therein. The plunger is adapted for slideable movement within the hollow bore. The assembly includes a hub disposed within the hollow bore and at least partially supporting a cannula therewith, and a needle retraction member engaged with the hub for manually selectable advancement with respect to a portion of the housing. The needle retraction member may be advanced from an initial position in which at least a portion of the needle is disposed outside the housing, to a retracted position in which the needle is fully surrounded by the housing. The elongate plunger may be advanced about the hub for extracting the fluid into the reservoir or expelling the fluid from the reservoir.

Needle Guard

A method of making a needle guard includes providing a mold having a portion defining a volume, the volume being a hollow cylinder with non-uniform walls with a pair of slots therein, the slots being open at one end and closed at the other end, the pair of slots having a major portion of constant width. The walls are thicker at the other end than at the one end. The method includes filling the volume with polymer and releasing a molded part from said mold and cooling a molded part resulting from the filling and releasing such that temperature that the widths of the pair of slots is non-uniform after cooling. The needle guard has upper and lower jaws defining a channel and coming together at a hinge. A winged needle can be inserted between the jaws, with the wings of the winged needle passing through slots between the jaws.

Device for Obtaining a Blood Sample

A device for obtaining a biological sample, such as a capillary blood collection device, that has the ability to lance and squeeze the finger, collect the sample, stabilize the sample, and subsequently dispense the sample in a controlled manner is disclosed. The device also simplifies and streamlines the capillary blood collection by eliminating workflow variabilities which are typically associated with low sample quality including hemolysis and micro-clots.

A device for making available sample carriers includes a tube with a receiving chamber for a plurality of sample carriers. The receiving chamber is delimited, at its front end, by a holding means for individualized release of the sample carriers and, at its rear end, by a plunger for exerting a force on the sample carriers. The holding means is elastic. To prevent a plurality of sample carriers being released at the same time from the tube, a plurality of fins are mounted on the plunger. The fins are mutually offset in the circumferential direction of the plunger. The offset arrangement of the fins has the effect that, under the action of the force, the plunger is pressed into the interior of the tube by in each case only a predefined ejection stroke. The ejection stroke is adapted to the length or the diameter of one of the sample carriers.
