Combination vein contrast enhancer and bar code scanning device
It is known in the art to use an apparatus to enhance the visual appearance of the veins and arteries in a patient to facilitate insertion of needles into those veins and arteries. This application discloses a number of inventions that add additional data collection and presentation capabilities to a handheld vein enhancement apparatus and a set of processes for the collection of blood and the delivery of IV medicines that use the handheld device to mediate the process.
Biological sample containment system and label
A biological sample containment system and a label for a container that includes a first layer having a first readable information portion and a second layer removably attached to the first layer, the second layer having a second readable information portion, is disclosed. In one embodiment, the first layer and the second layer of the label are both formed of a thermosensitive material. In one embodiment, at least a part of the first readable information portion is identical to at least a part of the second readable information portion. The label of the present disclosure allows a portion of the label having readable information to be removed and adhered to a patient record, for example, while a portion of the label having identical readable information remains on the container.
KITS AND DEVICES FOR DETECTING ANALYTES
The invention provides devices that improve tests for detecting specific cellular, viral, and molecular targets in clinical, industrial, or environmental samples. The invention permits efficient detection of individual microscopic targets at low magnification for highly sensitive testing. The invention does not require washing steps and thus allows sensitive and specific detection while simplifying manual operation and lowering costs and complexity in automated operation. In short, the invention provides devices that can deliver rapid, accurate, and quantitative, easy-to-use, and cost-effective tests.
SAMPLE COLLECTION KIT FOR POSITIVE SAMPLE IDENTIFICATION
A sample collection kit is described for ensuring positive sample identification. The sample collection kit includes a sample container configured to hold a biological sample. The sample container has a lower end, an upper end, a sidewall that extends from the lower end to the upper end, and an identifier disposed along the sidewall. The identifier includes information encoded therein related to the sample container and the sample. The kit includes a sample container holder. The sample container holder has a bottom end, an open top end, a sidewall, and a window in the sidewall. The window is positioned in the sidewall of the container holder such that when the collection tube is inserted inside the sample container holder, the identifier of the sample container is aligned with window of the sample container holder.
FLUID ANALYSIS SYSTEM
Systems and method are disclosed for determining a concentration of an analyte in a fluid (e.g., blood). The system can draw blood from a patient and deliver the blood to a sample cell. A particular component of the fluid (e.g., plasma) may be separated and/or positioned such that the concentration of the analyte is measured in the particular component of the fluid (e.g., plasma). The sample cell can include a sample container that has two window pieces. The system can have a fluid passage having a tip configured to mate with a multi-lumen catheter without leaking. The multi-lumen catheter can have proximal and distal ports. A fluid pressure system can be configured to periodically draw fluid from vasculature through a proximal intravascular opening and the proximal port while maintaining a low pressure and/or flow rate to thereby reduce risk of reversing the fluid flow in a vessel and drawing infusates upstream into another intravascular opening.
Biological sample containment system and label
A biological sample containment system that includes a biological specimen collection container for collecting a biological sample and a label for the container is disclosed. In one embodiment, the label includes a first or front side and a second or rear side having a readable information portion. The label is affixable to the container by the second side and with the label affixed to the container, the readable information portion on the second side is readable through a portion of the container. By including readable information on the second or rear side of the label, the amount of readable information that can be included on the label is increased by using the previously unused rear side of the label.
Liquid Sample Collection Apparatus
This invention relates to a liquid sample collection apparatus comprising, a port for receiving a liquid sample, a collector for storing said liquid sample, at least one conduit connecting said port to said collector, and a sample detection apparatus comprising a sensor for detecting said liquid in said collector and generating an output depending on the quantity of said liquid detected in said collector, and a controller responsive to said sensor output and configured to determine that said sample has been collected when said sensor output indicates that a quantity of said liquid above a threshold amount is detected in said collector.
TOUCH-FREE INFECTIOUS DISEASE SCREENING
A security gateway for touch-free infectious disease screening includes a contactless sensor, a memory and a processor. The contactless sensor is configured to obtain health readings of a subject. The memory stores instructions. The processor executes the instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the security gateway to measure vital signs based on the health readings of the subject, and determine whether to allow access to a premise based on the vital signs.
CUSTOM DATA FIELDS FOR AUTOMATED APHERESIS PROCEDURES
A method of processing blood or a blood product using an automated system includes displaying on a display a listing of a plurality of blood processing procedures that may be performed using the system and receiving operator input selecting one of the blood processing procedures that is to be performed. The method includes displaying on the display a list of parameters that are associated with the selected blood processing procedure and receiving operator input selecting a plurality of the parameters that are to populate the display during performance of the procedure. The method includes receiving operator input indicating a format in which the selected parameters are to be presented on the display. The method includes displaying values for the selected plurality of parameters in the indicated format during performance of the specified procedure.
STERILE FLUID COLLECTION TUBE PACKAGE
Various technologies presented herein relate to sterile transport, storage and operation of fluid collection tubes. A plurality of sterile sample tube packages are presented, wherein each package comprises a tray (having a recessed cavity formed therein), one or more fluid collection tubes and a cover. Each cavity includes at least one compartment, wherein a collection tube can be respectively stored in each compartment. The tray and cover can be formed from medically sterile materials.
