In certain embodiments, a sampling assembly is for use with a main analyzer. The main analyzer is configured to sense an analyte in a body fluid obtained from a patient through a first fluid passageway extending from the main analyzer. The sampling assembly includes an instrument portion separate from the main analyzer and including at least one sensor. The instrument portion is removably engaged with the first fluid passageway. The at least one sensor is in sensing engagement with the first fluid passageway such that the at least one sensor can sense a property of a fluid within the first fluid passageway.

DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS

A diagnostic patch apparatus has a sampling module that includes sampling means for sampling fluid from a patient's skin when the sampling module is placed against the patient's skin, and a sample chamber coupled in fluid communication with the sampling means. The apparatus also has an analysis module that includes a fluid conduit coupled in fluid communication with the sample chamber of the sampling module and a plurality of sensors coupled in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The apparatus also may have a reader module that includes at least one optical sensor coupled in optical communication with the analysis module, a microcontroller coupled in electrical communication with the at least one sensor of the analysis module, and a wireless communication package coupled in electrical communication with the microcontroller.

Continuous analyte monitor data recording device operable in a blinded mode

A system is provided for monitoring analyte in a host, including a continuous analyte sensor that produces a data stream indicative of a host's analyte concentration and a device that receives and records data from the data stream from the continuous analyte sensor. In one embodiment, the device includes a single point analyte monitor, from which it obtains an analyte value, and is configured to display only single point analyte measurement values, and not any analyte measurement values associated with data received from the continuous analyte sensor. Instead, data received from the continuous analyte sensor is used to provide alarms to the user when the analyte concentration and/or the rate of change of analyte concentration, as measured by the continuous analyte sensor, is above or below a predetermined range. Data received from the continuous analyte sensor may also be used to prompt the diabetic or caregiver to take certain actions, such as to perform another single point blood glucose measurement. In another embodiment, the device provides for toggling between two modes, with one mode that allows for display of glucose concentration values associated with the continuous glucose sensor and a second mode that prevents the display of glucose concentration values associated with the continuous glucose sensor.

The medical monitoring system can have a fluid system configured to receive bodily fluid and optically analyze said fluid to determine analyte concentration. The fluid system can have a removable portion. The removable portion can have an opening with a port. The system can also have a container configured to contain anticoagulant. The container can have a portion configured to mate with the port of the removable portion. The container can be further configured to not fit into a conventional luer fitting. An anti-coagulant insertion apparatus is also described. The apparatus can have a syringe, a dock with a port, and an adapter configured to connect the syringe to the port. The dock can also have a tab configured to move with the port.

Mobile molecular diagnostics system with wireless communication

A mobile, self contained molecular diagnostics system is provided with a microfluidic chip, detection apparatus and an integrated or wireless control interface and imager. The system provides automated sample preparation and rapid optical detection of multianalyte nucleic acids and proteins. On chip PCR may be performed to improve the optical fluorescence signal for nucleic acid detections. Plasmonic protein detection is performed using a dark field smartphone microscope. Dark field illumination is based on an evanescent field generated by LED total internal reflection. The smartphone element may also be used as an interface to control the detection apparatus, acquire images, process data and for wireless communications with remote computers. The handheld automated system has low power requirements and is particularly suited for point of care and on demand diagnostics in resource limited settings.

Fluidic Medical Devices and Uses Thereof

This invention is in the field of medical devices. Specifically, the present invention provides fluidic systems having a plurality of reaction sites surrounded by optical barriers to reduce the amount of optical cross-talk between signals detected from various reaction sites. The invention also provides a method of manufacturing fluidic systems and methods of using the systems.

Transdermal sampling and analysis device

Transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system are provided for non-invasively and transdermally obtaining biological samples from a subject and determining levels of analytes of the obtained biological samples. The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may cause disruption to the skin cells to create capillary-like channels from which biological samples may flow to the transdermal sampling and analysis device. The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may collect the biological samples in a reservoir where the biological sample may chemically react with a biologically reactive element. A sensor may convert the produced electrons (ions) into measured electrical signals. The converted signals may be measured and the levels of an analyte may be determined based on the measured signals.
