A terminal case configured to effectively estimate the life or degradation of a secondary battery as the secondary battery degrades includes a housing that can be coupled to the secondary battery, a plurality of normal mode terminals disposed on a first surface of the housing and a plurality of measurement mode terminals disposed on a second surface of the housing. The housing is configured to be coupled to the secondary battery with either the first surface or the second surface facing the secondary battery, such as by rotation of the housing about an axis passing through a center of two surfaces of the housing that are parallel to one another and perpendicular to both the first and second surfaces of the housing.

The present application relates to a battery module. The battery module includes a battery group and an insulating plate. The battery group includes a bus bar and a plurality of battery units, each battery unit includes a tab which includes a connecting segment and a bending segment. The insulating plate includes a plurality of plate assemblies, and the adjacent plate assemblies are connected through a connecting plate. There is an obtuse angle between each plate assembly and the connecting plate connected thereto. Each connecting segment passes through a guiding groove, and the bending segment and the bus bar are fixed and connected. The guiding groove can adjust the altitude of the tab as it passes through the insulating plate. The bending segment can be connected to the bus bar, then the process requirements can be met with a small space, which improves the energy density of the battery module.

Provided are a pouch case for a pouch type secondary battery in which one corner is in close contact with a cooling plate and a pouch type secondary battery including the same. In the pouch case, by controlling a shape relation among a forming portion formed to have a non-zero depth determined in advance at a center to accommodate one side of an electrode assembly, a receiving portion in surface contact with a side surface of the electrode assembly at the time of sealing the pouch case, and a sealing portion for sealing opposing ends of the forming portion and the electrode assembly, a size of a sealing protrusion formed after the electrode assembly is packaged through mechanical properties of a metal laminate sheet and a simplified die and punch may be minimized.

A battery cell includes: an electrode unit including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a current collector, and a separator; a housing unit accommodating the electrode unit; a first insulator disposed inside the housing unit and between the electrode unit and the housing unit, an internal terminal disposed inside the housing unit and electrically connected to the current collector; a second insulator disposed inside the housing unit and between the internal terminal and the housing unit; and an external terminal disposed outside the housing unit. A contact surface of the first insulator with the electrode unit has indented shape. The first insulator is fixed to the housing unit.

A battery cell includes: an electrode unit including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a current collector, and a separator; a housing unit accommodating the electrode unit; a first insulator disposed inside the housing unit and between the electrode unit and the housing unit, an internal terminal disposed inside the housing unit and electrically connected to the current collector; a second insulator disposed inside the housing unit and between the internal terminal and the housing unit; and an external terminal disposed outside the housing unit. A contact surface of the first insulator with the electrode unit has indented shape. The first insulator is fixed to the housing unit.

Embodiments described herein relate generally to systems and methods for improving safety features in electrochemical cells. In particular, the systems and methods as described herein can solve safety issues concerning gas generation in electrochemical cells.

A battery module includes a housing having an internal space; a cell stack accommodated in the internal space and including a plurality of battery cells and a plurality of heat blocking members stacked therein; a busbar assembly including a busbar frame opposing at least one side surface of the cell stack, and a plurality of busbars coupled to the busbar frame and electrically connected to the plurality of battery cells, wherein at least one of the plurality of heat blocking members includes an extension portion inserted into the busbar frame and preventing an electrical short circuit between the plurality of busbars.

A secondary battery includes a bare cell including an electrode assembly, an electrode tab drawn upwardly from the electrode assembly, and a pouch surrounding the electrode assembly, the electrode tab being exposed to an outside through the pouch, a protection circuit module (PCM) connected to the electrode tab, a case holder disposed between the pouch and the PCM to support the PCM, a case top on the bare cell, the PCM and the case holder being covered by the case top, a case bottom at a bottom side of the bare cell, and a plate attached to a side surface of the bare cell, the plate being coupled to the case top and the case bottom.
