Various embodiments of an apparatus, methods, systems and computer program products described herein are directed to an Analytics Engine that receives one more signal files that include neural signal data of a user based on voltages detected by one or more electrodes on a set of headphones worn by a user. The Analytics Engine preprocesses the data, extracts features from the received data, and feeds the extracted features into one or more machine learning models to generate determined output that corresponds to at least one of a current mental state of the user and a type of facial gesture performed by the user. The Analytics Engine sends the determined output to a computing device to perform an action based on the determined output.

The flexible band has a flexibility which makes the flexible band deform under the weight of the earcups to conform with the head of the user to ensure high quality contact between the headband electrodes and the scalp. There are further provided earcup electrodes on the earcups for contact with a region on or behind an ear of the user. Signals from the electrodes can be used for different purposes such as concentration monitoring and feedback.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MENTAL EXERCISES AND IMPROVED COGNITION

Systems and methods for improved cognition via mental exercises are provided. In some embodiments, contextual information regarding the user and her environment are collected. Subsequently, the user is presented with a cognitive task, wherein the cognitive task includes a stimuli and the task specifies a desired response to the stimuli. Feedback is then collected from the user. Additionally the exercise results are assessed. The feedback, results and context information are then all aggregated in order to generate guidance for the user of the system. Guidance may be determined by a rule based system, via AI modeling, or by some combination of the two.
