GIANT-CHIRP ALL-NORMAL-DISPERSION SUB-NANOSECOND FIBER OSCILLATOR
A single mode fiber pulsed oscillator includes an all normal dispersion ring cavity provided with a mode-locking fiber loop component and a giant chirp generating fiber component. The mode-locking fiber loop component is configured with a hybrid of NOLM and NALM configurations which is operative to induce a first phase acquisition of a spectrally narrow pulse due to SPM. The giant chirp generating fiber loop component is configured to induce the additional phase acquisition to the pulse broadened in the mode-locking fiber component so as to generate a pulse with a giant chirp. The fiber loop components each include a fiber amplifier and a coil of fiber. The amplifiers each are configured with an active fiber provided with a core which supports multiple transverse mode in a range of wavelength except for the desired wavelength at which the core is configured to support a single fundamental mode.
Ultrashot pulse fiber laser
The invention is a passively mode-locked ultrashort pulse fiber laser for generating ultrashort laser pulses, including a resonator in a figure-of-eight configuration, wherein the resonator has a main ring and a secondary ring optically coupled thereto designed as a non-linear Sagnac interferometer, and wherein the main ring and the secondary ring are constructed of polarization-maintaining optical fibers, and the main ring and/or secondary ring have a fiber section designed as a laser-active medium, wherein the laser-active medium is optically pumped through an externally-coupled pump light source which is also comprised, wherein the ultrashort pulse fiber laser is developed in that a separate optical unit is provided in the resonator as a dispersion compensation unit for compensating a group delay dispersion of the ultrashort laser pulses.
Laser system
A laser system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an oscillation unit to generate a laser output, a connection unit to connect the oscillation unit with an optical fiber loop, an amplifying unit to amplify the laser output on the optical fiber loop, a conversion unit disposed on the optical fiber loop to convert pulsed wave laser output into continuous wave laser output, and an output unit disposed between the connection unit and the conversion unit to split a part of the laser output toward the conversion unit. The system for generating a high output pulsed wave laser and converting the pulsed wave laser into a continuous wave laser may be implemented in a simple structure and small size with high stability and high reproducibility. In addition, a high output laser may be obtained. Also, since conversion from the pulsed wave into the continuous wave is easy, both of the high output pulsed wave and the high output continuous wave may be obtained as necessary.
Frequency based ring laser sensor
A frequency based ring laser sensor is disclosed. The sensor includes a pump source, a common section, and a reference section and a detection section. The common section is provided with a gain medium. The common section and the reference section form a first ring laser resonator, and the common section and the detection section form a second ring laser resonator. Laser beams are transmitted oppositely in the first ring laser resonator and the second ring laser resonator. The detection section is provided with a sensing element capable of causing an optical path difference. The common section is provided with an output unit or each of the reference section and the detection is provided with the output unit, and the output unit is connected to a photoelectric detector through a light uniting unit.
Burst-laser generator using an optical resonator
The present invention provides a burst-laser generator using an optical resonator which produces high pulse-strength of burst-laser in order to conduct laser Compton scattering, comprising: a self-oscillation amplifying optical loop-path and an external optical resonator to burst-amplify laser, wherein, laser supplied by an exciting laser source is self-oscillation amplified with the self-oscillation amplifying optical loop-path and further burst-amplified with the external optical resonator.
OPTICAL COMB CARRIER ENVELOPE-OFFSET FREQUENCY CONTROL USING INTENSITY MODULATION
A system for optical comb carrier envelope offset frequency control includes a mode-locked oscillator. The mode-locked oscillator produces an output beam using an input beam and one or more control signals. The output beam includes a controlled carrier envelope offset frequency. A beat note generator produces a beat note signal using a portion of the output beam. A control signal generator produces the one or more control signals to set the beat note signal by modulating the intensity of the input beam within the mode locked oscillator. Modulating the intensity comprises using a Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator or using an intensity modulated external laser to affect a gain medium within the mode-locked laser.
WAVELENGTH-SWEPT LIGHT SOURCE
A wavelength-swept optical source is based upon a combination of a coherent source of ultra-short optical pulses, doped fiber amplifier, and specialized dispersive optical medium to create time-stretched pulses. The pulses are broadened to have a spectral bandwidth that covers a wavelength range of interest for a particular wavelength sweeping application and are thereafter subjected to time-stretching within the dispersive optical medium so as to sufficiently separate in time a number of wavelength components within each pulse.
Optical amplifier
An optical amplifier of the present disclosure includes an optical resonator that includes an amplification fiber capable of amplifying signal light having one or more propagation modes and resonates at least one propagation mode of the signal light amplified by the amplification fiber; an excitation light source that outputs excitation light for exciting the amplification fiber; and a multiplexer that multiplexes the signal light and the excitation light, in which the optical resonator includes a gain clamp setting unit which sets gain clamp for at least one propagation mode out of a plurality of propagation modes resonating in the optical resonator.
FIBER STRUCTURE, PULSE LASER DEVICE, AND SUPERCONTINUUM LIGHT SOURCE
A fiber structure includes first and second optical fibers disposed such that end portions thereof butt, a sheet-shaped saturable absorber including a carbon nanotube and disposed between the end portion of the first optical fiber and the end portion of the second optical fiber, and a housing internally accommodating the end portion of the first optical fiber and the end portion of the second optical fiber. A space in the housing including the saturable absorber is airtight.
FIBER STRUCTURE, PULSE LASER DEVICE, SUPERCONTINUUM LIGHT SOURCE, AND PRODUCTION METHOD FOR FIBER STRUCTURE
A fiber structure includes first and second optical fibers disposed such that tip portions thereof butt and a sheet-shaped saturable absorber sandwiched between the tip portion of the first optical fiber and the tip portion of the second optical fiber. Each of the tip portions of the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber has a core, a cladding provided around the core, and a ferrule provided around the cladding. The tip portion of the first optical fiber has a protruding shape protruding to a tip side. The saturable absorber has an adhering part at least adhering to the core of the first optical fiber and a non-adhering part present around the adhering part and not adhering to the tip portion of the first optical fiber.
