A cable stripping tool for preparing a coaxial cable for insertion into a coaxial cable connector includes a receptacle, a cartridge, and a biasing member. The receptacle defines an opening for receiving an end of the coaxial cable, and the opening defines an axis along which an elongate of the coaxial cable extends into the receptacle. The cartridge is disposed in the receptacle and is slidable in a back-and-forth direction substantially orthogonal to the axis of the opening. The cartridge holds at least one cutting blade, which has a blade edge extending substantially orthogonal to the axis of the opening. The biasing member is configured to bias the cartridge toward a first stop surface of the receptacle disposed at an opposite side of the opening relative to the cartridge.

STRIPPING TOOL

An insulation stripping tool can be used to precisely remove a section of insulation located away from the edges of an insulated wire. The insulation stripping tool includes two transverse cutting elements which can be spaced a predefined and precise distance apart, and upper and lower longitudinally-extending cutting elements extending between the transverse cutting elements. Hinged lever arms can be gripped to move the cutting elements towards one another and cut into the insulation sheathing an insulated wire. A depth guide may be included to control the depth of the insulation cut to minimize or avoid scoring or otherwise affecting the conductive core of the insulated wire.

CUTTING AND STRIPPING TOOL FOR RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) RADIATING COAXIAL CABLE

One embodiment is directed to a tool to cut and strip a radiating coaxial cable. The tool comprises first and second jaws, a linkage that couples the first jaw to the second jaw, a cutting blade, and a stripping blade. The tool is configured to position at least a portion of the cutting blade to cut and sever the cable at a first point along the cable when the tool is rotated around the cable while the first jaw and the second jaw are closed around the cable. The tool is configured to position at least a portion of the stripping blade to cut the jacket of the cable, without severing the cable, at a second point along the cable when the tool is rotated around the cable while the first jaw and the second jaw are closed around the cable. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Stripping tools and methods for preparing coaxial cables

A stripping tool includes and body portion and a clamping arm. The stripping tool further includes a stripping blade having a blade edge. The stripping blade extends from the body portion, and the blade edge is offset from the clamping arm at a distance d such that the blade edge enters the insulator layer of the coaxial cable when the coaxial cable is positioned between the clamping arm and the body portion. The stripping tool further includes a retention element disposed at the body portion at a position after the stripping blade along a cable insertion direction. The retention element is positioned to contact the outer layer of an end portion of the coaxial cable when the coaxial cable is positioned between the clamping arm and the body portion and the stripping tool is in the closed position.
