In certain embodiments, the residence article includes dimensions configured for transesophageal administration with a gastric resident system. In some cases, the residence article may be configured to control drug release e.g., with zero-order drug kinetics with no potential for burst release for weeks to months. In some embodiments, the residence articles described herein comprise biocompatible materials and/or are safe for gastric retention. In certain embodiments, the residence article includes dimensions configured for transesophageal retrieval. In some cases, the residence articles described herein may comprise relatively large doses of drug (e.g., greater than or equal to 1 gram).
NASOGASTRIC PROBE
A nasogastric probe comprises at least one substantially flexible tubular element of elongated shape, provided with at least one main channel communicating with at least one feeding mouth of nutritive substances or the like, which is arranged at a first end stretch of the tubular element itself, and with at least one delivery mouth of nutritive substances or the like, which is arranged at a second end stretch opposed to the first end stretch and intended to be inserted into the patient's stomach passing through the esophagus; and it comprises pressure detecting means inside the esophagus comprising at least one pressure sensor associated with the tubular element and interposed between the feeding mouth and the delivery mouth.
METHOD OF MANAGING DISEASE, AND APPARATUSES OPERATING THE SAME
A method of managing a disease and an apparatus performing the same are provided. The method of managing livestock disease includes receiving biometric information of livestock from a biosensor capsule settled in a body of the livestock, detecting a singular point deviating from a reference value, based on the biometric information, monitoring a health state by increasing a disease probability of the livestock when the singular point is detected, and detecting a disease by determining an abnormality in the health state of the livestock when the disease probability of the livestock is a first threshold value or more. An animal subject suspected of reproductive disorders (ovarian cyst) may be rapidly detected, and intensive care (veterinary examination and hormone prescription) may be provided to the farm, thereby increasing productivity of the farm.
GASTRIC RESIDENT ELECTRONICS
Gastric resident electronics, devices, systems, and related methods are generally provided. Some embodiments comprise administering (e.g., orally) an (electronic) resident structure to a subject (e.g., a patient) such that the (electronic) resident structure is retained at a location internal to the subject for a particular amount of time (e.g., at least about 24 hours) before exiting said location internal to the subject. In some embodiments, the resident structure is a gastric resident electronic. That is to say, in some embodiments, the resident structure is configured for relatively long gastric residence and comprises an electronic component. In some embodiments, the structures and components described herein may comprise one or more components configured for the delivery of an active substance(s) (e.g., a pharmaceutical agent) to the subject. In some embodiments, the device has a modular design, combining an electronic component(s) with materials configured for controlled and/or tunable degradation/dissolution to determine the time at which (gastric) residence is lost and the device exits the location internal to the subject. For example, in some embodiments, the resident structure comprises an electronic component and one or more additional components associated with the electronic component such that the resident structure is configured to be retained at a location internal to a subject for greater than or equal to 24 hours.
INSERTION DEVICE POSITIONING GUIDANCE SYSTEM AND METHOD
There is provided herein a system and a method for guiding insertion of a gastroenteral tube including: an electromagnetic field generator configured to generate an electromagnetic field covering a treatment area; wherein said electromagnetic field generator is external to the patient; a registration sensor configured to mark anatomic locations on the patient's torso; a gastroenteral tube comprising a tip sensor configured to sense its position and/or orientation relative to the electromagnetic field generator; and a processing circuitry configured to: calculate an orientation of the subject relative to the field generator based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, load a predefined anatomic map representing a torso; aligning the map based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, and showing on the map a path of the gastroenteral tube insertion; wherein the path is generated according to changes in the strength of the electromagnetic field sensed by the tip sensor's during the insertion of the gastroenteral tube, independent of the subject's movement and independent of deviations in the position and/or orientation of said field generator.
DEVICE FOR DETERMINING A PIECE OF INFORMATION RELATING TO A CARDIAC DECOMPENSATION STATE
Disclosed is a device for determining a piece of information relating to a cardiac decompensation state of a user, the information being obtained by analysis of a cardiac parameter, characterized in that it includes a measuring device designed to determine a signal value by means of at least one accelerometer signal curve of the user, the signal value being intended to be compared with an additional signal value originating from a measurement by a cardiac monitor, the measuring device comprising, for this purpose, at least one accelerometer designed to determine said accelerometer signal curve, the measuring device being designed to be housed in an implant inside the user.
Free-floating millimeter-sized distributed implantable gastric seeds
A method and system for gastric stimulation and imaging for a user. The system having an array of millimeter-sized gastric seeds implanted in a stomach area of a user. Each gastric seed is ultrasonically powered and communicates using a transducer, and the transducer has a recorder to measure a bioelectrical activity in the stomach area of the user. A wearable unit (WU) is worn or carried by the user, and the WU wirelessly powers the gastric seeds. The WU wirelessly communicates with the gastric seeds, and the gastric seeds communicate a parameter to the WU based on the bioelectrical activity. Received pulses by the seeds can be used to localize the position of the seeds and guide the wireless power/data transmission in a self-image-guided manner. A processing unit (PU) wirelessly communicates with the WU, and the WU communicates the parameters from the gastric seeds to the PU.
Devices and methods to measure gastric residual volume
Devices and methods to measure gastric residual volume (GRV) are described where at least one additive component (a GRV indicator) may be dispersed in a body lumen such as a stomach. The GRV indicator may changes a physical (chemical, electrical, thermal, mechanical, optical, etc.) characteristic within the stomach by a measureable degree. This degree of change and/or the rate of return to the previous state, may be used to determine the GRV of a patient. The determined GRV can also be used to automatically or semi-automatically control the patient's feeding rate and/or volume and/or frequency to adequately nourish the patient but avoid complications. The physical characteristic(s) may also be used to detect that the feeding catheter or tube is in the correct location (ie stomach vs lung or esophagus.
Digestive Organ Internal Contents Sampling Capsule
A digestive organ internal contents sampling capsule for sampling internal contents in a digestive organ includes: a cylindrical container insoluble in a digestive tract for housing the internal contents in the digestive organ; an outer lid enclosing an orifice of the cylindrical container and to dissolve at least partially in the digestive organ; an inner lid arranged in the cylindrical container, and to swell in response to contact with the internal contents in the digestive organ to enclose the orifice of the cylindrical container after the orifice is exposed by dissolving of at least a part of the outer lid; and a marker material to be discharged together with the cylindrical container housing the internal contents in the digestive organ and feces.
