System and method for measuring female urethral length
In one embodiment, a device measures the length of the urethra. The device includes a hollow tube having markings, wherein the hollow tube includes an internal end and an external end. The internal end includes one or more fins that can be manipulated into an open position and a closed position. The external end includes an opening allowing the insertion of a push-tube sliding axially within the body of the hollow tube, the push-tube being used to manipulate the fins into the open and closed positions. Further, an outer ring moves axially along the exterior of hollow tube and is utilized to measure the length of the urethra.
Sensing device for ambulatory urodynamics having a pressure sensitive housing
A sensing device can be used for ambulatory urodynamics. The sensing device can include an elongated outer housing constructed of flexible material that can curve within a patient's bladder. At least a portion of the outer housing can be filled with a non-compressible fluid. A flexible printed circuit board can be disposed within the outer housing to curve with the outer housing. The printed circuit board can include a pressure sensor, comprising a diaphragm, to collect pressure data; a microcontroller running control software; and a wireless transmitter to transmit the pressure data. A battery can be disposed within the outer housing and coupled to the printed circuit board. The flexible material of the outer housing is configured to be displaced by a pressure within the patient's bladder, the displacement is transmitted through the non-compressible fluid to the pressure sensor that provides the pressure data based on the displacement.
ELECTRONIC CATHETER STETHOSCOPE
An electronic catheter stethoscope measures and analyzes acoustic fields and dynamic pressure variations in the gaseous or liquid fluid inside a conventional medical catheter that is positioned in a patient's urologic, digestive, reproductive, cardiovascular, neurological or pulmonary system. Measurement transducers are installed in a housing connectable to multiple preselected medical catheters. The transducers detect bodily functions that are transmitted to the preselected catheter from within the body. The transducers, housing, electrical interface and signal processing electronics are positioned outside the body.

MEDICAL DEVICE FOR CONSTRICTING A BODY PASSAGE AND A METHOD THEREOF
A plurality of bodies that attract one another are provided for implanting in a patient, specifically around a body passage of the patient. For example, the body passage may be the urethra, and the plurality of bodies may be implanted around the outside of the urethra, and the bodies being substantially coaxial with the urethra. The attraction between adjacent bodies may be provided by a magnetic or a mechanical force.
REMOTE VITAL SIGN DETECTION DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR NON-IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS
A remote vital sign detection device has a sensor, an integrated circuit, and antenna. The integrated circuit is in communication with the sensor and the antenna. The sensor detects and generates an electronic response from a desired vital sign such as body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure and sends a signal corresponding to that vital sign to the integrated circuit. The integrated circuit converts the vital sign signal into vital sign data and transmits the vital sign data off-board via the antenna. The vital sign data is then transmitted to an external reader. The external reader receives the vital sign data and processes it for display or read-out by medical staff. An option intermediate receiver may relay vital sign data from the vital sign detection device to the external reader. The vital sign detection device is placed in a non-implantable medical device.
Methods and apparatuses for estimating bladder status
The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses for estimating the status of a bladder, especially with respect to the likelihood of an imminent voiding of the bladder. The apparatuses carry out computer-implemented methods of estimating a bladder status employing a bladder monitor which collects bladder data (e.g. using ultrasound) and transmits the bladder data to a data processor for algorithmic conversion to a bladder status. Such algorithms may be trained and tuned to a particular person's bladder. Having established a bladder status based on otherwise esoteric bladder data, the data processor may then trigger an alert signal where the bladder status meets particular criteria indicating an imminent voiding event. Such a trigger signal may be used to alert a nocturnal enuresis patient to an impending void so that they can be awoken before any bedwetting occurs.
Catheter for monitoring pressure
A catheter insertable into a cavity of a patient for monitoring pressure including a first lumen for drainage from the cavity and an expandable balloon. The balloon has a liquid containing chamber to monitor pressure within the cavity of the patient as pressure on the outer wall of the balloon deforms the balloon and compresses the liquid within the balloon. An exit port provides passage of air from an interior of the balloon to outside the catheter. A membrane has plurality of pores dimensioned to enable passage of air but prevent passage of the liquid therethrough. A pressure sensor communicates with the liquid containing chamber for measuring pressure based on compression of liquid caused by deformation of the expanded balloon.
