Controlled bending for catheters

For rotation compensation in a catheter, a rotation sensor senses rotation of the handle or catheter. Motors are controlled to change the bend in response to sensed rotation. As the tip rotates due to handle rotation, the motors change the bend to maintain the bend and tip position relative to the patient. This steering in the patient reference frame may be more intuitive, easier to learn, and allow rotation to change an imaging field of view without moving the bending planes.

Over-the-wire ultrasound system with torque-cable driven rotary transducer

Disclosed are embodiments of devices and methods for imaging the inside of a body part, such as a blood vessel. In particular embodiments, a catheter has a chamber within which is a transducer. A wire guide channel extends throughout the length of the catheter. The transducer is rotatable about the wire guide channel and the transducer is driven by a cable or other device that is connected to a motor which is located outside the catheter. In one form, a torque cable connects the transducer to the motor. In other embodiments, a pusher piece having a plurality of lumens is positioned in the catheter. Each of the lumens is sized to receive a cable, wire, and/or flushing fluid. The lumens maintain the orientation and separation of the cables, wires, and/or to flushing fluid.

Tension transmission device and three-dimensional mechanical probe using same

A tension transmission device as a control system for a probing portion of a three-dimensional mechanical probe is fitted to a support portion. The tension transmission device includes a driving shaft, a first tension member, and a second tension member. The driving shaft defines first and second fastening points. The first fastening point and the second fastening point are located at axially-distanced points of the driving shaft which are not diametrically opposite. The first and second tension members wind around a circumference of the driving shaft guided by a first pulley and a second pulley, to rotate and manipulate the driven shaft of the probing portion.

A diagnostic imaging catheter includes a sheath configured to be inserted into a living body; a drive shaft rotatable in the sheath; and an imaging core portion attached to the drive shaft in the sheath. The imaging core portion includes a transmission and reception member capable of transmitting and receiving a signal; and a housing holding the transmission and reception member. A side surface of the housing that faces a radial direction of the sheath includes an inclined portion that is inclined, up to a distal end of the housing, to approach a central axis line of the drive shaft from a proximal side to a distal side of the inclined portion. The inclined portion extends from a proximal side of a distal end of the transmission and reception member to a distal side of the distal end of the transmission and reception member.

DETECTION AND TREATMENT OF TUMORS USING ULTRASOUND

Techniques are provided for detection and treatment of tumors using ultrasound. An early detection test may be performed on a patient. A location of a tumor may be determined based on the early detection test. Properties of the tumor may be determined based on the early detection test. Moieties may be functionalized based on the properties of the tumor. The moieties maybe introduced into the patient. The location of the tumor may be imaged using ultrasound, magnetic resonance elastography, or computed tomography to generate images of the location of the tumor. A treatment plan based on the images of the location of the tumor may be implemented using ultrasound.

Various methods and systems are provided for a deployable invasive device. In one example, the deployable invasive device has a transducer including a plurality of transducer arrays spaced apart by a shape memory material. The shape memory material is configured to transition between a first configuration with a first set of dimensions and a second configuration with a second, larger set of dimensions.

METHOD FOR MAPPING THE VAULT FOR AN IMPLANTED INTER OCULAR LENS

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method that detects and measures a vault of an anterior segment of an eye of a patient. The system and method locate an implanted contact lens (ICL) between a cornea and a natural lens, form a B-scan of the eye based on the received ultrasound pulses, removes background pixels, such as by binarizing and thresholding, from the B-Scan from a grayscale color palette to a black/white color palette, determines, from the resulting B-scan a fiduciary location in the anterior segment of the eye, and forms using the resulting B-scan and fiduciary location, a vault map mapping a distance between an anterior segment surface and a posterior surface of the ICL along a plurality of lines drawn perpendicular to a local surface of the anterior segment surface.
