HEALTH TEST FOR A BROAD SPECTRUM OF HEALTH PROBLEMS
Provided herein are methods and devices for the detection of conditions or disorders by detecting altered levels of stress response pathway biomarkers. Also provided are methods and reagents for identifying panels of biomarkers associated with a condition or disorder.
Apparatus And Methods For Aspirating Tissue
A bone marrow aspiration device and associated method includes an introducer needle and an aspiration needle. The introducer needle includes an introducer cannula and a removable introducer stylet that includes a sharp tip to penetrate bone. The aspiration needle includes an optionally flexible aspiration cannula and a blunt stylet. The aspiration needle is receivable in the introducer cannula when the introducer stylet is removed from the introducer needle. The aspiration cannula forms a channel for aspirating bone marrow when the stylet is removed. The aspiration device also includes a locking mechanism to lock the aspiration cannula to the introducer cannula when the aspiration cannula is received in the introducer cannula, whereby the aspiration cannula can be advanced distally relative to the introducer cannula in a controlled manner, and whereby pulling the aspiration cannula proximally causes the introducer cannula to move proximally with the aspiration cannula.
Apparatus and methods to harvest bone and bone marrow
An apparatus and method for harvesting bone and bone marrow are provided. The apparatus may include a driver operable to be releasably engaged with an intraosseous device. The intraosseous device may include a cannula having a first end operable to penetrate bone and bone marrow and to allow retrieval of portions of bone and/or bone marrow. The cannula may have a second end operable to be releasably engaged with bone marrow sampling equipment. The apparatus may include a removable trocar. The removable trocar may have an inner channel operable to convey portions of bone and/or bone marrow. The removable trocar may have an inner channel and a side port communicating with the inner channel. The removable trocar may have a first end operable to penetrate bone and bone marrow.
Bone marrow lesion drill
Devices, systems, methods, and kits are provided for accessing and treating bone marrow lesions in intraosseous spaces of bones by reversibly coupling a drill, including a surgical power drill, to a stylet reversibly inserted within and coupled with a cannula to provide for concurrent or synchronized rotation of the stylet and the cannula when drilling into a bone. Also provided are devices, systems, methods, and kits for their use for uncoupling a stylet from a cannula once the cannula is in a desired position in a bone, removal of the stylet to provide an open lumen to the desired location in the bone, and reversible attachment of an access device to the proximal end of the cannula to deliver and/or withdraw a substance (such as bone graft substitute) from the accessed lesion. Still further are provided devices, systems, methods, and kits for subsequently removing the lumen from the bone, including by reinserting the stylet into the lumen, recoupling the stylet with the lumen, and back drilling, including by power drill, the two components out of the bone.
ASPIRATION DEVICE
The present invention provides improved devices for biopsy, aspiration, stem cell acquisition, and methods of using the same. The devices balance aspiration with concurrent infusion to manage changes in pressure at the site of biopsy. The present invention can be adapted for any biopsy, aspiration, or cell harvest procedure, including adipose tissue aspiration and bone marrow aspiration (BMA). In particular, the present invention limits patient pain, prevents blood contamination, and increases cell mobilization, such as improved stem cell yields with intraosseous (10) pharmacological mobilization of stem cells during a BMA procedure, and with improved stem cell yields using pharmacological mobilization of stem cells from fat. The pharmacological mobilization of cells allows the harvest of cells from a biopsy many fold larger than existing methods.
REMOVABLE BIOCOMPATIBLE SUBSTRATE FILTER FOR A REAMING AND COLLECTION DEVICE
A removable second stage biocompatible substrate filter including biocompatible implant material configured to trap second stage operative particulate matter, wherein the removable second stage biocompatible substrate filter is configured to combine with first stage operative particulate matter captured from irrigation fluid by a first stage filter, defining a combined product and the removable second stage biocompatible substrate filter is configured to be removable from a filter device container.
ASSEMBLY FOR COUPLING POWERED DRIVER WITH INTRAOSSEOUS DEVICE
Apparatus and methods are provided to remove biopsy specimens from a bone and/or associated bone marrow using a powered driver and an intraosseous (IO) needle set. The powered driver may rotate the IO needle set at an optimum speed to obtain a biopsy sample of bone and/or bone marrow. Apparatus and methods may also be provided for aspiration of bone marrow and/or stem cell transplant procedures. The apparatus may include a powered driver, a coupler assembly, a containment bag or sterile sleeve and various IO needles and IO needle sets with associated hubs and/or hub assemblies. Each IO needle set may include a cannula or catheter and an associated trocar stylet with respective tips operable to penetrate a bone and/or bone marrow with minimum trauma to a patient. Each hub assembly may be used to releasably dispose a respective stylet within an associated generally hollow cannula. Some coupler assemblies and/or hub assemblies may also be used with manual drivers.
Bone marrow aspiration needle assembly
A needle assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a cannula, a trocar insertable through the cannula, the trocar including a shaft extending longitudinally between a proximal portion and a tip portion and a groove formed in the shaft and extending from near the tip portion at least partially toward the proximal portion.
Bone Marrow Harvesting Device And Storage Methods
Bone harvesting tools and methods of use thereof are disclosed. In an embodiment, the tool comprises a chamber having a first aperture, a second aperture, an internal cavity, and a suction source fluidly connected with the chamber. The suction source is effective to generate negative pressure within the internal cavity of the chamber. The tool also has a reamer having a reaming portion, the reamer being sized to extend through the first and second apertures of the chamber, wherein the reamer is movable relative to the chamber. Additionally, the tool includes a storage container fluidly connected to the internal cavity of the chamber and effective to receive bone and/or cellular material extracted from the patient, the bone and/or cellular material being extracted during reaming a bone of the patient with the reamer.
