A bone marrow aspiration device and related method includes an introducer assembly and an aspiration assembly to couple to the introducer assembly. The introducer assembly includes an introducer cannula having a proximal end and a distal end. The introducer cannula defines a lumen between the distal and proximal ends, the distal end being configured to penetrate bone of a patient. The aspiration assembly includes an aspiration cannula that is receivable in the lumen of the introducer cannula and that extends beyond the distal end of the introducer cannula. The aspiration cannula includes a port to aspirate bone marrow, the port being distal to the distal end of the introducer cannula. The aspiration device further includes a mechanism at the introducer assembly to move the introducer cannula and the aspiration cannula in tandem relative to a distal end of the mechanism when the aspiration cannula is positioned within bone.

Biopsy Device with Focal Internal Grooves and Method of Use

A medical device and method of using said medical device to remove a biopsy specimen from a patient. The device includes a series of retaining members, such as grooves or ridges protruding into the internal lumen of the medical device. The retaining members do not fully circumscribe the internal lumen. Upon rotation of the device, the retaining members engage the sample tissue received in the internal lumen, which improves the interference between the device and the tissue sample for extraction of the tissue sample from the patient. In some embodiments the grooves are angled to further improve interference between the device and the tissue sample. The medical may also include a biopsy sample ejector or ejector funnel and a cannula and/or a trocar with respective tips configured to optimize penetration of the device into the tissue with minimum patient trauma and enhanced reliability of obtaining a biopsy specimen.

Reusable Push-Activated Intraosseous Access Device

Disclosed herein are push activated intraosseous (IO) access devices, and methods thereof. Embodiments include replaceable and rechargeable or non-rechargeable battery packs, or spring driven devices. Intraosseous access devices often require training to ensure correct placement of the access device. Users must coordinate the opposing actions of pulling proximally on a trigger, while applying sufficient distal drive force to penetrate the bone. Devices disclosed herein include an intuitive operation with a unidirectional activation and drive force application. Further the trigger is both activated and deactivated automatically to prevent premature activation and prevent “backwalling”. The device includes various indicators to further guide a user in placing the device correctly, with little or no training. Devices further include replaceable battery packs to ensure a full charge is available when the device is used, and to provide a multi-use device that requires less storage.

GRAFT COLLECTION AND CONTAINMENT SYSTEM FOR BONE DEFECTS

A device for containing bone graft material comprises a body including an inner sleeve extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and an outer sleeve surrounding the inner sleeve and extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end such that a bone graft collecting space is formed therebetween.

BONE HARVESTER AND BONE MARROW REMOVAL SYSTEM AND METHOD

A bone harvester and bone marrow removal system. The bone harvester can include a body defining a channel extending longitudinally therethrough from a distal to a proximal portion of the body. The distal portion can include a cutting tip. Bone marrow may be drawn through the channel.

ASSISTIVE DEVICE FOR REMOVING A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE FROM AN INTRAOSSEOUS DEVICE, AND RELATED KITS AND METHODS

Assistive apparatuses or devices, kits, and methods for assisting with removal of a biological sample from an intraosseous device are described. Some of the present assistive apparatuses comprise: a body including a first end and a second end, and defining a channel with a first portion having a first transverse dimension, a second portion disposed between the first portion and the second end and having a second transverse dimension that is smaller than the first transvers dimension, and a longitudinal axis extending through the first portion and the second portion, the body further including a protrusion extending laterally outward relative to the longitudinal axis; where the channel is configured to receive a portion of an intraosseous device having a hub and a cannula extending from the hub, with the first portion of the channel receiving a part of the hub, and the second portion of the channel receiving a part of the cannula while preventing passage of the hub through the second portion.

Bone marrow access apparatus

A bone marrow access apparatus is adapted to be installed in connection with a bone. The bone marrow access apparatus includes a bone penetrating member having an internal channel having an opening at a proximal end and an opening at a distal end adapted to open into in a bone marrow space in the bone. A valve cap is provided around part of the bone penetrating member, and includes a valve having an opening having an open state in which the channel is not obstructed and a closed state to prevent flow of a material through the channel.
