MESSAGE FLOODING PREVENTION IN 5G WIRELESS NETWORK

Automated processes, computing systems, devices and other aspects of a wireless data network are described. According to various embodiments, message flooding in the wireless network is reduced through the use of “dummy” messages from the radio unit (RU) to the distributed unit (DU) and/or layer two (L2) switch. The dummy messages prevent timeout of the RU's data in the L2 switch's routing tables, thereby prolonging the period of time that the L2 switch is able to more efficiently direct subsequent traffic toward that particular device.

Node Failure Detection and Resolution in Distributed Databases

Methods and systems to detect and resolve failure in a distributed database system is described herein. A first node in the distributed database system can detect an interruption in communication with at least one other node in the distributed database system. This indicates a network failure. In response to detection of this failure, the first node starts a failure resolution protocol. This invokes coordinated broadcasts of respective lists of suspicious nodes among neighbor nodes. Each node compares its own list of suspicious nodes with its neighbors' lists of suspicious nodes to determine which nodes are still directly connected to each other. Each node determines the largest group of these directly connected nodes and whether or not it is in that group. If a node isn't in that group, it fails itself to resolve the network failure.

DATA COLLECTION APPARATUS, DATA COLLECTION SYSYTEM, AND DATA COLLECTION METHOD

A data collection apparatus can communicates with a plurality of terminal devices located in a predetermined target area and respectively held by individuals, and collects data from the terminal devices. The data collection apparatus includes a transmission control unit for controlling transmission of data from the terminal devices; and a calculation unit for calculating the number of the terminal devices located in the target area. The transmission control unit controls transmission of data from the terminal devices so that when the number of the terminal devices located in the target area is relatively large, the transmission speed of data from the terminal devices is slower or the number of the terminal devices stopping transmission of data among the terminal devices located in the target area is larger than when the number of the terminal devices located in the target area is relatively small.

In one example, a system comprises a plurality of non-last-hop routers (non-LHRs) of a network, the non-LHRs configured with a multicast distribution tree for a multicast group to transport first multicast packets of a multicast flow toward one or more LHRs, wherein a router of the non-LHR routers is configured to receive unicast packets for an application session associated with the multicast group, encapsulate the unicast packets in a multicast header to generate the first multicast packets for distribution using the multicast distribution tree, and output the first multicast packets; and the one or more LHRs, wherein the one or more LHRs are interested receivers of the multicast group, and wherein the one or more LHRs are configured to receive the first multicast packets of the multicast flow, extract the unicast packets for the application session, and send the unicast packets to one or more clients of the application session.

Method and system for location determination

A method for determining location of a premises is disclosed. The method includes measuring a signal strength of a plurality of communication signals received at the premises, obtaining data associated with a source of the signals, estimating a propagation loss for the received signal, determining a distance between a source of each of the signals and the premises based on the estimated propagation loss, and triangulating the location of the premises.

LIMITING CONTENT OF TRAVEL-RELATED MESSAGES

A boundary specifying a bounded geographic area for which travel information is to be reported is generated. Flow section information associated with flow sections located within the boundary is obtained. The flow sections represent portions of one or more roadways assigned relevant functional road classes (FRCs). The flow section information includes information about traffic flow associated with the flow sections. FRC current traffic messages, which include non-predictive traffic information associated with roadway portions that are in the bounded geographic area and are assigned relevant FRCs, are combined with the flow section information to generate a first data group. The first data group is streamed to a first traffic message service.

WEIGHTED MULTICAST JOIN LOAD BALANCE

In some examples, a method includes receiving, by an egress network device for a network, messages from each of a plurality of ingress network devices for the network, wherein each of the messages specifies a multicast source, a multicast group, and an upstream multicast hop weight value for multicast traffic for the multicast source and the multicast group; selecting, by the egress network device and based on the upstream multicast hop weight values specified by the received messages, one of the plurality of ingress network devices to which to send a multicast join message of a plurality of multicast join messages for the multicast source and multicast group; and sending, by the egress network device, the multicast join message to the selected one of the plurality of ingress network devices.

DOWNLINK SIZE ESTIMATION FOR MULTICAST TRAFFIC

Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to estimating downlink size for a multicast traffic. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a first device receives downlink control information (DCI) for a multicast traffic. The first device determines field size(s) in the DCI based on one or more parameters which are associated with the field size estimation for the multicast traffic. The first device decodes the DCI based on the determined field sizes(s). In this way, the DCI can be blindly decoded correctly.

Methods, apparatus and machine-readable mediums relating to establishment of broadcast/multicast bearers

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method performed by a broadcast/multicast server for a communication network. The method comprises: receiving, from an application server, a request to establish a broadcast/multicast bearer in the communication network; allocating resources associated with the broadcast/multicast bearer in the communication network; and sending, to the application server, a response message comprising an indication of whether the allocation of the resources associated with the broadcast/multicast bearer is ongoing or not. Corresponding apparatus and methods and apparatus in the application server, are also provided.
