A control device includes a setting unit, an accumulation unit, a registration unit, and a selecting unit. The setting unit sets image data expressing an image including a first layer corresponding to a foreground-operating application and a second layer located in front of the first layer in a viewing direction. The accumulation unit accumulates information related to a screen corresponding to the second layer requested for display from an application and for which the display is not completed. The registration unit registers, for each application, a rule to be applied when selecting any of screens corresponding to the accumulated information. The selecting unit selects a screen corresponding to the second layer in accordance with the rule of the foreground-operating application among the registered rules if display of the screen corresponding to the second layer is requested from an application and that commands the setting unit to set selected-screen-containing image data.

An image processing apparatus, including a display, a memory, and a controller, to provide a plurality of functions is provided. The controller controls the display to display one of a first screen, through which one of the plurality of functions is selectable; a second screen, through which one of a plurality of options for the selected function is selectable; and a third screen, through which selection of the one of the plurality of options is indicated. When the controller reads shortcut information that indicates a first option for a selected one of the functions, and when the first option is permitted to the user, the third screen is displayed. When the first option is not permitted to the user, and if there is a second option permitted to the user, the second screen is displayed.

An image processing apparatus performs: in a case where an operating mode is a second mode when identification information receiving process is executed, determining whether a first memory stores first identification information corresponding to second identification information; in response to determining that the first memory stores the first identification information, determining whether a second memory stores third identification information corresponding to the second identification information; in response to determining that the second memory stores the third identification information, determining whether a first screen is displayed; in response to determining that the first screen is displayed, executing a first logout process of switching the operating mode from the second mode to the first mode and deleting the third identification information stored in the second memory; in response to determining that the first screen is not displayed, maintaining the operating mode in the second mode without executing the first logout process.

A method of managing an image forming apparatus through a network, the method including: logging in to a server through a diagnostic control unit application from a user terminal; receiving, by the user terminal, device information of an image forming apparatus from the image forming apparatus; requesting for and receiving, by the user terminal, diagnostic control unit information corresponding to the received device information from the server; performing a diagnostic control on the image forming apparatus through the diagnostic control unit application by using the received diagnostic control unit information; and uploading results of performing the diagnostic control on the server.

A composite apparatus includes: a first apparatus and a second apparatus that operate independently; and a console display that is shared by the first and second apparatus. The first and second apparatus each includes: a display memory that stores display data; and a drawing processor that instructs the console display to display the display data. The composite apparatus further includes: a selector that selectively connects the drawing processor of the first or second apparatus to the console display; and a switch processor that receives a connection request from the first or second apparatus. The connection request includes requests to connect the drawing processor of the first or second apparatus to the console display and to instruct the selector to connect the drawing processor of either the first or second apparatus to the console display.

An electronic picture frame and an image display method thereof are provided. In the electronic picture frame, a plurality of images are arranged and displayed on one side of a screen, and among the plurality of images, an image at a particular position is enlarged and displayed. Alternatively, a screen is divided into a plurality of sub-screens, so images stored in each of a plurality of storage areas can be displayed on a respective sub-screen. Accordingly, the images stored in the plurality of storage areas can be displayed on the electronic picture frame in diverse forms.

An information processing apparatus having a printer driver includes a display part that displays on a screen a first image, a second image, a first setting item that relates to the first image and a second setting item that relates to the second image, a control part that determines one of the first and second images as a main image and the other of them as a sub image, displays both of the main and sub images on the screen, and receives a selection made by a user of the apparatus, and a display switching part that displays the first image as the main image relating to the first setting item when the first setting item is selected by the user, and the second image as the sub image.

In an information processing apparatus, a program corresponding to an electronic device is installed in response to the electronic device being connected to the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus includes a processor, in communication with a memory, executing a process including collecting information relating to a first program already installed in the information processing apparatus; acquiring identification information of the electronic device from the electronic device connected to the information processing apparatus; and determining whether to install a second program identified by the identification information, by using the information relating to the first program identified from the identification information. The second program is of a different version than a version of the first program, and the second program is included in a storage medium or a device connected to the information processing apparatus.

A software widget running on a user device may be designed to operate in a locked or an unlocked mode. In unlocked mode, the user has full interactivity with the widget. In locked mode, however, at least some of the interactivity with the widget is restricted, despite the fact that the widget still operates normally otherwise while in the locked mode. While in locked mode, user input may determine if the widget should be unlocked.

While a support apparatus is remotely operating an information processing apparatus via a relay server, remote operation of the information processing apparatus by another apparatus other than the support apparatus is restricted.
