A surgical closure apparatus for facilitating closure of a wound includes an outer member dimensioned for positioning within a wound opening and defining a central longitudinal axis, and having a first longitudinal passage and a second longitudinal passage, a needle assembly at least partially disposed within the first longitudinal passage of the outer member, and a suture configured for at least partially closing the wound opening and extending at least partially through the second longitudinal passage of the outer member. The needle assembly includes a needle drive and a suture needle mounted to the needle drive and coupled to the suture. The suture needle is adapted for rotational movement relative to the central longitudinal axis between an unarmed condition and an armed condition through manipulation of the needle drive. The suture needle is positioned for passage through tissue adjacent the wound opening when in the armed condition.

Needle loading unit for surgical suturing apparatus

A loading unit assembly for use with a surgical suturing apparatus includes a surgical needle and a support structure configured for releasably securing the surgical needle. The support structure may include a first finger and a second finger adjacent to the first finger. The first and second fingers may define a first channel therebetween. The support structure may also include a third finger defining a seat portion and a back portion. The seat and back portions may be in facing relation with the first and second fingers. The third finger and the first and second fingers may define a second channel therebetween. The surgical needle may be loaded in the second channel and may be in abutment with at least the seat portion.

A medical device and method of use comprising a base portion having a length extending from proximal end and a distal end and a width extending from a first side to a laterally opposed second side. At least one arm extending from at least one of the first or second sides, the at least one arm extending a distance greater than the width of the base portion. The arm being configured to extend around at least a portion of a cervical isthmus.

Seton for treating fistulae, and a method of forming a closed loop of a seton

A size-adjustable seton (1) for treating fistulae (32) is provided with first and second wire ends (4, 6), which are provided with connecting means (8, 10) for, in a connected state, forming a smooth connection (12); in such a way, the seton (1) is a smooth, closed loop (3). The invention also relates to a method of forming the closed loop using the aforesaid seton (1), and a melt clamp (40) for use when placing the seton (1) in a person (30).

SURGICAL END EFFECTORS

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a drive assembly, a driver, a needle assembly and a biasing element. The driver is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive assembly. Rotation of the drive assembly in a first direction causes distal translation of the driver with respect to the drive assembly. The needle assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Distal translation of the driver causes a corresponding distal translation of the needle assembly. The biasing element is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the needle assembly and is configured to bias the needle assembly proximally.

Bidirectional guide suture device for pelvic floor reconstruction puncture

The present invention discloses a bidirectional guide suture device for pelvic floor reconstruction puncture, comprising a puncture catheter and a bidirectional guide cable. One end of the bidirectional guide cable is provided with a needle hole for connecting stitches, and the other end is provided with a pulling hole for pulling the bidirectional guide cable. The bidirectional guide cable is arranged inside the puncture catheter, and the pulling hole is located at the puncture end of the puncture catheter. The bidirectional guide suture device in the present invention is convenient and flexible in operation, can reduce puncture injury, and is especially used in pelvic floor reconstruction suture in human bodies.

SUTURE NEEDLE

The surgical suture needle includes a tip section, a main body, and a base end portion. The tip section is colored in a color different from a color of other portions. The tip section has a tapered shape, and a length of the tip section is 10% of a whole length of the suture needle. When the suture needle penetrating the biological object is pulled out by grasping with a needle holder, grasping the tip section of the suture needle easily breaks the suture needle. Therefore, a doctor grasps a portion other than the tip section with the needle holder. The colored tip section ensures the doctor easily distinguishing the tip section from the other portions. Coloring the tip section in red, green, purple, or pink ensures avoiding erroneously grasping the tip section since the tip section is unnoticeable at a suture position where blood is attached.

PURSE STRING SUTURE DEVICE

A suture device is configured to form a purse string suture in procedures such as, e.g., transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME), for removal of low rectal and ultra-low rectal tumors and preservation of anal sphincters to avoid permanent stomas. The suture device may provide uniform needle rotation, tissue penetration, and/or suture advancement independent of the skill of the clinician. The suture device includes a plurality of needles operatively associated with a needle driver such that rotation of the needle driver transitions the plurality of needles between a retracted position, in which, the plurality of needles extends radially inward, and an extended position, in which, the plurality of needles rotates to extend radially outward to engage and pierce through tissue to form a purse string suture.

Methods of surgical fastening

An apparatus and a method for surgical fastening is disclosed. An illustrative apparatus for tissue suturing includes a cartridge having a suturing needle having a pointed end and a blunt end, the suturing needle capable of rotating about an axis, a reciprocating needle drive, and an actuator capable of releasably engaging the needle drive to rotate the needle. A method for suturing tissue is provided that includes placing a suturing device having a cartridge containing a suturing needle to span at least one tissue segment, activating an actuator to cause rotational movement of the suturing needle through the at least one tissue segment, and deactivating the actuator to stop an advancing movement of the suturing needle to cause a suturing material to be pulled through the at least one tissue segment forming a stitch.
