Reception apparatus, reception method, and transmission apparatus
An object is to make it possible to perform caption display satisfactorily in a case where the caption display position is designated as a relative position. The video stream is decoded to obtain video data, and the subtitle stream including the caption information is decoded to obtain bitmap data of the caption. The caption display position in the caption display position information included in the caption information is designated as a relative position with respect to the caption display range. In a case where the aspect ratio of the video area is different from the aspect ratio of the display video area, the caption display position is determined with the display video area defined as the caption display range, further resize processing is performed, and the display position control is performed onto the bitmap data of the caption on the basis of the caption display position that has undergone the resize processing. Bitmap data of the caption that has undergone display position control is superimposed on the video data to obtain display video data.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MANAGING CAPTION INFORMATION
A technique is directed to methods and systems for managing caption information. In some implementations, the method includes (1) receiving, at a server, user information describing a user's preference of caption information; (2) generating, at the server, one or more sets of caption information based on the user information; (3) transmitting the one or more sets of caption information to a first client device via a first route; and (4) transmitting video content associated with the one or more sets of caption information to a second client device via a second route different than the first route.
Systems and methods for generating a video clip and associated closed-captioning data
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for generating a video clip and associated closed-captioning (CC) data. An example method involves accessing a first video clip demarcated into frames; accessing CC data demarcated into CC blocks, identifying a starting frame from among the frames; determining a first set of frames that are within a range of the starting frame; determining a first set of CC blocks that correlate to the first set of frames; receiving a selection of a starting position from among the first set of CC blocks; identifying an ending frame among the frames; using the ending frame to identify an ending position; and generating a second video clip and associated CC data, wherein the second video clip includes the frames spanning from the starting frame to the ending frame, and wherein the generated CC data includes the CC blocks spanning from the starting position to the ending position.
Method and device for transmitting and receiving broadcast signal
The present invention relates to a device and a method for transmitting and receiving a broadcast signal comprising a subtitling service. Provided in one embodiment of the present invention is a method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising the steps of: generating a broadcast signal comprising video data and subtitle data; and transmitting the generated broadcast signal. According to the embodiment of the present invention, a transport stream providing a digital broadcast subtitling service using an XML subtitle may be transmitted.
DECODER, ENCODER, COMPUTER PROGRAM AND METHOD
A subtitle encoding device for transmitting a bitmap subtitle for insertion in an image using a progressive type scan including a controller configured to: indicate, in an interlace subtitle system, that a top field block length is zero; and provide the bitmap subtitle in a bottom field of the interlace subtitle system.
REPRODUCING DEVICE, REPRODUCING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND TRANSMITTING DEVICE
A transmitting apparatus including circuitry configured to generate caption data corresponding to content data and having elements defined in Extensible Markup Language (XML), and output the content data and the generated caption data to a reproducing device.
Use of a program schedule to modify an electronic dictionary of a closed-captioning generator
In one aspect, an example method involves accessing data representing a program schedule of a media program, wherein the program schedule comprises first text. The method also includes selecting second text from among the first text. The method further includes transmitting, via a communication network, an instruction configured to cause the selected second-text to be added to an electronic dictionary of a closed-captioning generator.
Autonomic positioning of overlays within streaming data
Systems and methods for autonomic positioning of overlays within streaming data are disclosed. In embodiments, a computer-implemented method comprises: providing a hosted data stream containing a first display object to a plurality of participants through respective participant devices; providing a hosted second display object to the plurality of participants through the respective participant devices, wherein the second display object is contained within an overlay that is positioned atop the first display object at a first position; calculating consensus coordinates for the second display object based on suggested position data received from the respective participant devices; calculating customized coordinates for the second display object for each of the respective participant devices based on the consensus coordinates and participant data; and sending the customized coordinates to each of the respective participant devices.
Reproducing device, reproducing method, program, and transmitting device
A transmitting apparatus including circuitry configured to generate caption data corresponding to content data and having elements defined in Extensible Markup Language (XML), and output the content data and the generated caption data to a reproducing device.
CLOSED CAPTIONING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Media content typically includes closed captioning information such as subtitled in domestic and foreign languages. Techniques and mechanisms provide that closed captioning information may be toggled on/off using menu options and preferences as well as automatically managed by intelligently monitoring the environment surrounding a device. Device sensors such as microphones and vibration monitors determine the noise level of an environment as well as the spectral characteristics of the noise to determine whether the noise profile would interfere with the video playback experience. A particular environmental noise profile could automatically trigger the display of closed captioning information or present an easy access, otherwise unavailable toggle to display closed captioning information associated with a video stream.
