A multimedia streaming and network apparatus that includes a flash memory, a network module, an access module and a multimedia streaming module is provided. The network module includes a network processing circuit. The access module includes a flash memory controller and an access circuit. The flash memory controller controls and accesses the flash memory. The access circuit includes a network processing storage circuit, a command and data transmission circuit and an interface converting circuit. The command and data transmission circuit performs transmission of command and data between the processing storage circuit and the network processing circuit. The interface converting circuit performs transmission and interface conversion between the network processing storage circuit and the flash memory controller. The multimedia streaming module accesses the flash memory through the flash memory controller.

Techniques to improve data transfer reliability

Techniques are described herein to dynamically control a number of hybrid automatic repeat requests (HARQ) transmissions based at least in part on flow characteristics of a data flow. Data included in a transport block may be grouped into one or more data flows based on a variety of factors. A set of performance benchmarks may be associated with each data flow. Flow characteristics for each data flow may be measured. A network entity may determine a number of HARQ transmissions to be transmitted during a HARQ procedure based on measured flow characteristics satisfying the performance benchmarks. For example, if a performance benchmark is not satisfied by its associated flow characteristic, the network entity may request additional HARQ transmissions during the HARQ procedure.

Efficient data transfer in remote mirroring connectivity on software-defined storage systems

Embodiments for network management in a Software-defined Storage (SDS) environment. Remote mirroring connectivity and data transfer is optimized in the SDS environment by establishing each of a plurality of nodes in a local storage array and a remote storage array as a gateway node. Data residing on a local gateway node is transferred directly to a remote gateway node owning the data, thereby avoiding interconnect data hops and improving datacenter network utilization.

A video server includes a memory device; a receiving device that acquires contents data; a server control device that stores, into the memory device, the contents data acquired by the receiving device, the server control device that reads the contents data out of the memory device. The memory device includes a semiconductor memory device; and a memory control device that stores and reads, the contents data in a first unit of area and performs a read-retry-operation of re-reading the contents data out of a first area in the first unit of area if detected an error on the contents data read out of the first area of the semiconductor memory device in the first unit of area, and moves the contents data into a second area if a number of times of performing the read-retry-operation by the memory control device reached at a first number of times of read-retry-operations.

VIDEO STORAGE

A video storage apparatus is described which stores and provides access to a video sequence of images. The apparatus comprises an array of storage devices, each image in the sequence being stored on at least one of the storage devices in the array, or being distributed across the array of storage devices with each portion being independently reproducible. A driver is provided, the driver being operable to access the video sequence by reading images in time order from the array of storage devices, temporally adjacent ones of the images, or different portions of the same image, being read by the driver from different storage devices in the array. In this way, an array of independent drives can be used to store video and allow much faster access to the stored video than would be the case with a single drive, and in a way which is more robust to drive failure.

Content aggregator

A processing device sends a first list of content comprising an unsolicited electronic content item to be stored on a first device associated with a user profile. The processing device receives information describing a first state of storage space on the first device. The processing device determines at least one of an amount of total free space or an amount of available free space on a second device associated with the user profile. The processing device then determines a second list of content using the first state of the storage space on the first device and at least one of the amount of total free space or the amount of available free space on the second device and sends the second list to the second device.

Shared content storage

Entertainment systems for aircraft and other vehicles are described having a plurality of media players. The media players collectively store a full content set, with each media player storing only a fraction of the full content set. Each of the media players can be configured to index the full content set, such that media players can obtain missing content.
