System and method for movie segment bookmarking and sharing

Several ways are provided for a viewer of a movie to create a deep tag, that is, a bookmark for a segment of the movie. The deep tag can be associated with descriptive text and sent to an address provided by the viewer, either an e-mail address or an instant messaging address. Additionally, before the deep tag is created, it can be checked whether the content owner of the movie is known. If known, the content owner's rules, if any, regarding deep tagging are followed. If unknown, a set of registered content owners can be alerted of the presence of new content. When ownership of the new content is established, the already-created deep tags can be updated in accordance with the content owner's rules, if any, regarding deep tagging.

An example apparatus includes a pseudo universe calculator to (i) determine a first pseudo universe estimate for a first audience of media corresponding to a first union of first margins, the first margins corresponding to known audience totals, and (ii) determine a second pseudo universe estimate for a second audience of the media corresponding to a second union of second margins, the determination based on an audience constant, the second margins including a margin corresponding to an unknown audience total. The example apparatus also includes a reach calculator to (i) determine an estimate of the unknown audience total of the second audience based on the second pseudo universe estimate for the second audience, and (ii) determine a reach estimate for the second union based on the first and second pseudo universe estimates.

DETECTION DEVICE

A detection device detecting a scene related to a sponsor credit included in a commercial message from a target video is provided. The detection device comprises a detection unit that associates, from a preliminary video, a still image related to the sponsor credit with an audio signal related to the sponsor credit included other than in a frame or an audio signal configuring the commercial message so as to detect the scene related to the sponsor credit from the target video.

In one basic form, the EPG display is reordered by listing more frequently visited categories or subcategories first, and other less frequently visited categories or subcategories lower on the listing or out-of-sight on another page of the display.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving first data from each media publishing system of a plurality of media publishing systems which facilitate a presentation of media content with one or more procurable media content slots, where the first data from each media publishing system have incompatible data structures; mapping the first data from each media publishing system to second data which has a common data structure; receiving a target description from a media procurement system, the target description including information to procure media content slots provided by one or more of the plurality of media publishing systems; comparing the target description to the second data in the common data format; identifying from the comparing at least one procurable media content slot provided by one or more media publishing systems that correlates to the target description; receiving first viewership data associated with viewership of media content presentations that include the at least one procurable media content slot; generating according to the first viewership data an estimated viewership size associated with the viewership of media content presentations that include the at least one procurable media content slot; and providing, by the processing system, the estimated viewership size to the media procurement system. In one embodiment, a processing device receives a first digital fingerprint of a media item along with a first content management rule. The processing device separately receives a second digital fingerprint of the media item along with a second content management rule. The processing device determines that the received digital fingerprints are for the same media item based upon a match between the first digital fingerprint and the second digital fingerprint. The processing device determines that all rights to the media item have been accounted for, and then determines a set of actions to be performed for hosted media items comprising the media item based at least in part upon the first content management rule and the second content management rule. Processing logic may also perform a conflict resolution process for conflicting rights claims to the media item.

The method also includes using at least the determined probabilities as a basis to select, from among the content-presentation devices in the identified group, a subgroup of content-presentation devices. The method also includes performing actions that facilitate causing each of at least some of the content-presentation devices in the selected subgroup to perform a respective content-modification operation in connection with the identified upcoming content modification opportunity on the channel.

A method of assigning advertisements to slots in video channels of a bundle of channels provided to an end user. The method includes managing credits, for each specific channel of the channels, indicative of a difference between a number of advertisements provided by an owner of the specific channel that were displayed on other channels and a number of advertisements provided by owners of other channels displayed on the specific channel In addition, scores indicative of a predicted success of the advertisement with the end user are calculated for a plurality of advertisements. An advertisement to be displayed to the end user is selected responsive to a function of both the calculated scores and the managed credits.
