Embodiments are described herein that involve receiving, by a social-media computing system from a media playback system, playback data indicating media that is being played back by the media playback system, where the playback data comprises an indication of at least one zone of the media playback system in which the media is being played back; and based on the received playback data, updating social-media data in a social-media account, where the updated social-media data comprises an indication of the at least one zone in which the media is currently being played back.

Example methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to assign respondents to geographic locations for audience measurement are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to determine a set of constraints based on aggregate values of demographic features associated with respective ones of the geographic locations. Disclosed example apparatus are also to construct a model to return probabilities that respective ones the respondents are associated with the respective ones of the geographic locations, the model to have a set of parameters, respective ones of the parameters to be associated with respective ones of the constraints. Disclosed example apparatus are further to evaluate the model based on values of the set of parameters and values of the demographic features for a first one of the respondents to determine a set of probabilities that the first respondent is to be assigned to respective ones of the geographic locations.

A method for broadcasting a data stream in at least one broadcast network. The method includes inserting, into the data stream, at least one identifier associated with at least one broadcast area of the broadcast network used to broadcast the data stream. The at least one identifier is transmitted in signalling information of an application to be executed by at least one receiver of the data stream.

The gift or video drop logic section includes an interactive gift or video drop map. The gift or video drop logic section presents the interactive gift or video drop map to a user, and facilitates the dropping of a symbolic gift item or a video onto the interactive map. The gift or video drop logic section determines whether the user is within certain predefined geographic boundaries, and either makes visible or gives a symbolic gift item to the user based on their location, or plays the video.

A video playing method includes: transmitting, in response to detecting a user input on a target control in a map display interface, a first acquisition request, the first acquisition request being used for acquiring target video data corresponding to the target control; receiving response information for the first acquisition request, and acquiring the target video data based on the response information; and displaying a video window on the map display interface, the video window being used for playing the target video data.

Provided is a system and method for publishing a disparate live media output stream that complies with distribution format regulations. The system generates a preview based on a low-latency protocol for a plurality of live input streams. Based on at least one event identified in the preview in real-time, an updated schedule is generated. In accordance with the updated schedule, a disparate live media output stream manifest is generated based on manipulation of manifests of the plurality of live input streams and pre-encoded media assets.

A method can be provided which includes receiving a channel line-up for an over-the-top media content system, receiving a preferred channel line-up containing a portion of the channel line-up, displaying individual channels of the channels of the preferred channel line-up in a preferred order on a display associated with the processor, monitoring a location of the processor while displaying the preferred channel line-up, determining whether the location of the processor corresponds to a channel exclusion zone, and removing excluded channels from the channel line-up based on the channel exclusion zone. A platform is provided by which a plurality of content providers can market and distribute media content to users. Information about activity of the users on the platform is obtained in relation to the item of media content or in relation to media content related to the item of media content. A request is received for an activity report comprising information related to a user demographic or a media content characteristic. Responsive to the activity report request, the activity report is provided to the content provider.

Methods, apparatus, and machine-readable storage media to monitor media presentations are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus includes a locator to compare a location of a mobile device with a set of reference locations at which audio monitoring is to be performed. The disclosed example apparatus further includes an audio receiver to enable a microphone of the mobile device to collect audio for media monitoring when (1) the location of the mobile device corresponds to a first one of the reference locations and (2) a media presentation monitor at the first one of the reference locations indicates a likelihood of media being presented at the first location satisfies a threshold. In some disclosed examples, the audio receiver of the example apparatus is to disable the microphone from collecting audio for media monitoring when the location of the mobile device does not correspond to any of the reference locations.

A system and method are provided of minimizing network bandwidth used from an external network by client peers in a local network. The method can include the operation of organizing a plurality of clients each having media streamlets and a client parent in a structure within the local network. Mapping information propagates through the structure. The mapping information represents local streamlet locations as stored by the plurality of clients. Another operation is retrieving a local streamlet from a client identified in the mapping information as having the local streamlet for the requesting client.
