A system, method, and computer product, the system comprising: a transmitter configured to transmit a multiplicity of commands related to managing usage of a screen in accordance with one or more rules, the multiplicity of commands sent at intervals during an applicability time period of a rule; and a receiver operatively connected to the screen, the receiver configured to receive the commands from the transmitter and apply the commands to the screen, thereby managing usage of the screen for the applicability time period of the rule, wherein the transmitter and the receiver communicate with each other using authenticated communication.
Systems and methods for saving and restoring scenes in a multimedia system
Systems and methods for saving and restoring scenes in a multimedia system with minimal configuration are provided. The techniques of the present invention can allow the states of the components in the multimedia system to be captured in a scene. Once the scene has been saved, the scene can be restored at a later time. A remote control system for recommending scenes by comparing states of components in the current scene with states of components in saved scenes is also provided. The remote control system can also recommend scenes based on usage patterns. Moreover, the remote control system can allow users to designate one or more saved scenes as favorite scenes.
Systems and methods for securely providing streaming media content on-demand
A system for securely providing streaming media content on-demand may include a plurality of receiving devices in which each receiving device may request the same or different streaming media content (e.g., stored at a content storage system of a content delivery network) on-demand using VOD or other available on-demand services and/or applications associated with, in communication with or running on the respective receiving devices. In response, the content storage system of the content delivery network will encrypt the requested content uniquely for each received request (e.g., according to an encryption key that is unique for each or virtually each request) and deliver the encrypted requested content to the appropriate respective receiving device of the receiving devices. The respective receiving devices will then each decrypt the streaming content as it is being received according to the corresponding decryption key communicated from a respective individual secure remote to the respective receiving device.
Input apparatus, display apparatus and control method thereof
An input apparatus, a display apparatus, and control methods thereof are disclosed. The input apparatus for the display apparatus includes a user input device configured to receive a user's input; communication circuitry configured to communicate with the display apparatus; a driver configured to provide a driving force to drive the input apparatus to move; and at least one processor configured to control the driver to move the input apparatus to a preset location corresponding to a user's location in response to a preset event so that a user can take and use the input apparatus. Thus, a movable input apparatus comes to a user by itself and provides user-friendly interaction, thereby improving a user's convenience.
Telepresence system
A system for telepresencing is provided with a user station at a remote user's location and a telepresence device at a local subject's location. Distance of objects around the local subject is sensed such that a selected distance between the telepresence device and the local subject is maintained. Eye features and gazes of the local subject and the remote user are sensed. The height of the telepresence device's display is adjusted automatically such that the eye level of the local subject matches with the eye level of the user's image in the display. When an intended eye contact is sensed, positions of the telepresence device, its display and a sensor hub that houses cameras and other sensors are adjusted, and a face image may be recreated at a different viewing angle to resemble an eye contact between the local subject and the remote user while preserving all other facial expressions.

A computer processing device (server) in the media system comprises an information collection unit configured to collect information about a force input applied to a remote controller during a predetermined period of time and a profiling unit configured to generate at least one user profile according to the collected information. Here, the force input means an input applied to the remote controller with higher pressure or wider area than pressure or an area of a normal input.

The display apparatus includes: a signal receiver configured to receive an image signal; a signal processor configured to process the received image signal; a display configured to display an image based on the processed image signal; a storage; a user input receiver configured to receive a user input; and a processor configured to display, on the display, at least one candidate profile from among a plurality of candidate profiles, each of which includes different setting information for a plurality of setting items, to select one from among the displayed at least one candidate profile according to the received user input, and to store in the storage in response to the selecting, the setting information for the plurality of setting items includes in the selected candidate profile. Accordingly, the display apparatus may simplify or automate an initial setting process.
Voice-Controlled Closed Caption Display
A method is implemented on a server system for initiating by voice display of closed captions (CC) for media content. The server system receives a voice message recorded by an electronic device, and determines that the voice message is a first CC initiation request including a user voice command to initiate closed captions and a user voice designation of a display device playing the media content for which closed captions are to be activated. The server system identifies in a device registry a cast device associated in a user domain with the electronic device and coupled to the designated display device, and sends a second CC initiation request to the cast device, thereby enabling the cast device to execute a media play application that controls the designated display device to turn on and display the closed captions of media content currently displayed on the designated display device.
