If the second setting is set, the color information of the screen displayed by the display unit is changed, and if a code image to be read by an external apparatus is included in the screen displayed by the display unit, the code image is made to not be displayed in a state in which color information of the code image is changed even if the second setting is set.

An information processing apparatus includes a registration unit, a display control unit, a login processing unit, and a restricting unit. The registration unit registers, as user information about a user who can log into the apparatus, user identification information for identifying the user as well as a display name displayed instead of the user identification information. When a list of user information registered is displayed, the display name as for a user whose display name has been registered and the user identification information as for a user whose display name is not registered is displayed. A control method for an information processing apparatus, the control method comprising: receiving, from a first external apparatus which belongs to a different subnet of a network than the subnet of the information processing apparatus, specific information for discovering the first external apparatus using a first communication unit; accepting an instruction from a user for searching for external apparatuses; discovering, in response to accepting the instruction and receiving the specific information before accepting the instruction, one or a plurality of external apparatuses by using the specific information, wherein the discovered external apparatuses includes the first external apparatus; displaying a list of information related to the discovered external apparatus(es); and communicating, using a second communication unit, with a selected external apparatus that a user has selected from the list.
