SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING A GENUINE PRINTED DOCUMENT
A system and method for verifying that a document is included in a document management system is disclosed. This system and method includes scanning of a scan track of a document, generating document data dependently upon the scanning, comparing the generated document data to stored document data, the stored document data generated dependently upon a prior scanning of the scan track of the document, and outputting an indication of the document being included in the document management system as determined by the comparing.
Information conveying method and system
An information conveying method is implemented by an information conveying system coupled to a first electronic device associated with a service provider and a second electronic device associated with a user. The system is programmed to: receive a reference image; create a data packet based, on to-be-conveyed information associated with the service provider, and link the data packet to the reference image; upon receiving a captured image from the second electronic device, generate a characteristic code of the captured image; determine whether the captured image matches the reference image; and when the determination made is affirmative, transmit the data packet to the second electronic device.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR EMBEDDING SEARCHABLE INFORMATION, ENCRYPTION, TRANSMISSION, STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL
A cell phone is disclosed for acquiring information to be transmitted to a receiving facility and for transmitting such thereto. A capture device captures information from an external source. A processor is provided for associating with the captured information a representation of the date and time of the capture of the information, such that the representation of the date and time information in association with the captured information forms augmented captured information. The processor also places the augmented captured information in association with subscriber information in a transmission of the augmented captured information to a receiving facility requiring such subscriber information. A transmitter transmits the transmission including the augmented captured information and the subscriber information to the receiving facility. An encryptor encrypts the augmented captured information with a symmetrical encryption algorithm to provide encrypted augmented captured information in the transmission with the subscriber information.
Authentication and Validation of Smartphone Imagery
A method, system, and processor-executable software for processing images or video captured by a smartphone or other digital image capture device for subsequent validation and authentication captures not only the image, but also metadata relevant to the authenticity of validity of the image, such as position, time, camera movement and orientation, image parameters, and so forth. The image is watermarked and both the watermarked image and the metadata, as well as a symmetric key used in the watermarking, are digitally signed and transmitted or uploaded to a web server or authentication centric entity for authentication and storage. When a third party submits an image to the web server or authentication centric entity, the submitted image is compared with the stored watermarked image for authentication and validation of the submitted image, and the metadata is then retrieved to enable analysis of the contents of authenticated and validated image.

A device comprising: an input for receiving images captured by a camera, of an environment illuminated by light from a light source; an image processing module; and a verification module. The image processing module is configured to process one or more of the images to decode a timestamp modulated into the light, and to output an indication of the decoded timestamp. The verification module is arranged to receive the indication of the decoded timestamp output by the image processing module, and based thereon to perform an at least partially automated verification of a time at which the one or more images were captured.
Method and apparatus for authenticating printed documents that contains both dark and halftone text
A document authentication method determines the authenticity of a target hardcopy document, which purports to be a true copy of an original hardcopy document. The method compares a binarized image of the target document with a binarized image of the original document which has been stored in a storage device. The image of the original document is generated by binarizing a scanned grayscale image of the original document. Halftone and non-halftone text areas in the grayscale image area separated, and the two types of text are separately binarized. The non-halftone text areas are then down-sampled. During authenticating, a scanned grayscale image of the target document is binarized by separating halftone and non-halftone text areas and binarizing them separately, and then down-sampling the non-halftone text areas. The binarized images of the target document and the original document are compared to determine the authenticity of the target document.
Apparatus and method for embedding searchable information, encryption, transmission, storage and retrieval
A cell phone is disclosed for acquiring information to be transmitted to a receiving facility and for transmitting such thereto. A capture device captures information from an external source.
