Cost effective cartridge for a plasma arc torch
An adapter for a plasma arc torch comprising a torch body is provided. The adapter includes a body defining a longitudinal axis between a proximal end and a distal end and at least one protruding portion extending from the proximal end of the body. The at least one protruding portion is configured to be inserted into a cavity of the torch body to physically engage a switch inside of the cavity. The engagement of the switch is adapted to indicate installation of a consumable component in the plasma arc torch.
Electrode-supporting assembly for contact-start plasma arc torch
An electrode-supporting assembly for a contact-start plasma arc torch has an insulator that partially houses an electrode, and employs a spring-loaded plunger to bias the electrode to a forward position. The spring is engaged between the plunger and a contact element attached to the insulator, and may conduct electrical current to the electrode. The plunger, spring, and contact element are retained in the insulator when the torch is opened to replace the electrode, which is a consumable part. The electrode and the plunger have axially-engagable mating surfaces to assure good thermal and electrical conductivity therebetween. Conductivity can be further enhanced by forming the plunger of silver or a silver-bearing alloy. In some embodiments, a passage through the insulator is partitioned into forward and rear chambers, with the plunger, spring, and contact element trapped in the rear chamber.
INDUCTIVELY COUPLED PLASMA TORCH STRUCTURE FOR LOW COOLING GAS FLOWS
An inductively coupled plasma (ICP) torch is described that facilitates laminar flow of a cooling gas introduced by a plurality of input ports between an outer tube and an inner tube configured to surround an injector for introduction of an aerosolized sample to a plasma. A system embodiment includes, but is not limited to, an inner tube; and an outer tube surrounding at least a portion of the inner tube to form an annular space, the outer tube defining a plurality of inlet ports for introduction of a cooling gas into the annular space as a laminar flow via each inlet port of the plurality of inlet ports.
Interchangeable power contact for a plasma arc cutting system
A power contact for a liquid-cooled plasma arc cutting system is provided. The cutting system includes a torch body and a lower torch assembly. The power contact comprises a substantially hollow body including an upper portion and a lower portion, and an external surface of the upper portion of the hollow body configured to matingly engage the torch body. The power contact further includes a thread region disposed on an internal surface of the hollow body. The thread region is configured to retain an electrode holder of the lower torch assembly of the plasma arc cutting system to matingly engage the lower torch assembly and secure the lower torch assembly to the torch body.
Plasma electrode for a plasma arc torch with replaceable electrode tip
Plasma electrode (1) for a plasma arc torch consisting of an electrode body, at least one electrode core (4) disposed on the electrode tip, wherein the plasma electrode (1) is constructed in at least two parts and consists of the electrode tip (2) and an electrode part (3), and out of the electrode tip (2) and a electrode part (3) consists, and that the electrode tip (2) is held replaceably on the electrode part (3).
ELECTRODE ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to an electrode arrangement for a plasma jet device comprising a first and a second printed circuit board each having an exposed surface of a circuit path serving as electrode and facing the other printed circuit board, a spacer arranged between the first and second circuit board and a plasma cell arranged between the first and second printed circuit board and the spacer wherein the plasma cell has a gas inlet and a plasma outlet. The invention further relates to a plasma head comprising said electrode arrangement.
CARTRIDGE FOR A LIQUID-COOLED PLASMA ARC TORCH
A torch head for a liquid-cooled plasma arc torch is provided. The torch head includes a torch body and a torch insulator, coupled to the torch body, having a substantially non-conductive insulator body. The torch insulator includes (i) a first liquid coolant channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to conduct a fluid flow from the torch head into a consumable cartridge along a first preexisting flow path, (ii) a first liquid return channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to return at least a portion of the fluid flow from the cartridge to the torch head along the first preexisting flow path, and (iii) a gas channel, disposed within the insulator body, configured to conduct a first gas flow from the torch head to the cartridge along a second preexisting flow path. The first and second preexisting flow paths are fluidly isolated from each other.
