Tourniquet with twisting assembly
A tourniquet with a twisting assembly including a base part having a plurality of teeth arranged in a circle; and a twisting part adapted for rotating relative to the base part and the twisting part having a windlass portion. A portion of a strap can be operatively connected to the windlass portion such that when the windlass portion is rotated, the portion of the strap is twisted. The twisting assembly is adapted to allow movement of the twisting part away from close engagement with the teeth of the base part to allow rotation of the twisting part in one rotational direction relative to the base part. The twisting assembly is adapted to cooperatively allow movement of the twisting part into close engagement with the teeth of the base part to prevent rotation of the twisting part in the opposite rotational direction.
TOURNIQUET AND CONNECTION ASSEMBLY THEREFOR
The present invention relates generally to first aid articles and more specifically tourniquets suitable for one handed application. One embodiment of the invention is directed to a tourniquet having a base defining first and second ends. A constricting band is attached to and extends from the first end of the base. A handle is engaged with the constricting band. The constricting band is threaded through a buckle assembly including a hexagonal frame member. A hook member includes an eyelet and a cuff which is releasably engaged to a first side of the hexagonal frame member. A loop is fixedly attached to said base which attaches the eyelet of said hook member to the base.
COMPLETELY LAPAROSCOPIC STAGED HEPATECTOMY USING ROUND-THE-LIVER LIGATION AND ITS INSTRUMENT
A laparoscopic staged hepatectomy using round-the-liver ligation is carried out includes: (1) a laparoscopic operation is performed with general anesthesia using round-the-liver ligation, the branches of the portal vein of the hemiliver are ligated, a tourniquet is used to tighten the connecting part between the right and left hemilivers to block the communicating blood flow between the hemiliver to be removed and the hemiliver to be reserved, a drainage tube is put into the peritoneal cavity, then close the peritoneal cavity; (2) the patient gradually resumes eating after the first operation, and recuperate to make the volume of the hemiliver increase to an expected volume; (3) after the hemiliver increases to the expected volume, a laparoscopic liver resection is carried out with general anesthesia to remove the diseased hemiliver, and then the patient is nursed to be completely recovered. An instrument for implementing the laparoscopic staged hepatectomy is also disclosed.
System and method for rapidly accessing an improved tourniquet
A system and method for rapidly accessing a tourniquet located in a pouch with a pull-away cover includes a tear-away cover. The tourniquet holder allows users to safely store in a fabric pouch a prepared tourniquet that is quickly accessible and coupled to a removable cover of the pouch. Users are able to fold the tourniquet in a manner that allows the tourniquet to be removed from the pouch and used nearly instantaneously.
JUNCTIONAL TOURNIQUET
Various implementations include a junctional tourniquet device including a threaded rod, a pressure plate coupled to a second rod end, and at least one ratchet lock defining ratchet lock threads. The ratchet lock is biased toward an engaged position and urgable toward a disengaged position. The ratchet lock threads are configured to be engaged with the rod threads in the engaged position and to be disengaged with the rod threads in the disengaged position. The threaded rod is movable in a first axial direction and a second axial direction. The rod threads and the ratchet lock threads are shaped to prevent the threaded rod from moving in the first axial direction when in the engaged position and to urge the at least one ratchet lock from the engaged position to the disengaged position when the threaded rod is moved in the second axial direction.
Twisting Assembly For Tightening An Elongated Flexible Material
A twisting assembly (600, 900, 1000, or 1100) for tightening an elongated flexible material (100) including a base part (610, 910, 1010, or 1110) having a plurality of teeth (640, 940, 1040, or 1140) arranged in a circle; and a twisting part (650, 950, 1050, or 1150) adapted for rotating relative to the base part and the twisting part having a windlass portion (680, 980, 1080, or 1180). A portion of the elongated flexible material can be operatively connected to the windlass portion such that when the windlass portion is rotated, the portion of the material is twisted.
BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION DEVICE
A blood flow restriction (BFR) device includes a cuff and a tightening system coupled to the cuff. The tightening system is configured to tighten and loosen the cuff. The BFR device may include a silicon-based cushion disposed on an inner surface of the cuff. The cuff may include an outer structure and an interior structure. The tightening system may include a pull wire disposed between the outer structure and the interior structure. The tightening system may further include a spool coupled to the pull wire and a bezel disposed on the spool. The bezel may be configured to rotate to tighten the BFR device. The BFR device may include a limb occlusion pressure (LOP) sensor disposed on an inner surface of the cuff.
Lightweight tourniquet
A tourniquet is described that includes an outer strap that runs from a first end to a second end having a buckle. An inner strap is routed within the outer strap over a portion of its length and runs through a windlass, which is used to tighten the tourniquet. The inner strap is secured to the outer strap at a position spaced away from the first end of the outer strap and is also secured to the buckle.
Tourniquet Windlass Device
A tourniquet windlass device is provided with a writing functionality. The device may be designed such that it may be used with an improvised constricting band such as a necktie or other fabric.
Simplified Field Use Junctional Tourniquets
A junctional tourniquet apparatus and related methods of use. An exemplary tourniquet has an inverted cone shape, wherein a narrower end has a mushroom shaped base that is pressed against a compression target and a broader end has a plurality of pass-through slots for straps. Another exemplary tourniquet has a broad plate component and a handle component. The handle component has a mushroom shaped base on a first end and a handle on a second end. The handle component passes through the center of the plate component with threads that allow the handle component to compress a target by twisting the handle.
