WRIST-WORN BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR
The present invention provides a wrist-worn blood pressure monitor that is worn around a wrist. The wrist-worn blood pressure monitor according to the present invention includes a wrist cuff including a wrist strap so as to be worn around a wrist, a sensor provided at the wrist cuff in order to measure blood pressure, and a tightener provided at the wrist cuff in order to selectively tighten the wrist cuff so that the wrist cuff compresses the wrist. According to the present invention, a user is able to conveniently measure his/her blood pressure whenever there is a need to measure the blood pressure, and the accuracy of the measured blood pressure is increased since the wrist-worn blood pressure monitor is securely tightened around the wrist.
SWALLOW EXERCISER
A method and system for antenna alignment is provided at a receiving antenna. Geolocation information of the receiving antenna is entered. An auto-programming sequence is initiated to tune to channels received from a transmitting antenna. A plurality of transmitted signals is received from the transmitting antenna. Each of the plurality of transmitted signals is transmitted on a respective channel and includes geolocation information of the transmitting antenna, conditional access data, and a payload. A signal processor of the receiving antenna calculates a signal path between the receiving antenna and the transmitting antenna for receiving each of the plurality of transmitted signals based on the geolocation information of the receiving antenna and the geolocation information of the transmitting antenna. A storage device of the receiving antenna records, as part of a selection list, a channel number and the calculated signal path to the transmitting antenna for each of the plurality of transmitted signals. One of said plurality of transmitted signals is selected. The receiving antenna is aligned, using a pan/tilt system, to tune the selected one of the plurality of transmitted signals according to the calculated signal path.
Tourniquet system
A tourniquet system embedded within the garment, the tourniquet system including a band, an optional bar, and an anti-pinch plate. The bar comprises an elongate portion of material having a first end portion, an intermediate portion, and a second end portion, at least one aperture formed in the bar so as to accept the band and allow the band to pass therethrough, at least one locking protrusion that extends from at least one of the first end portion or the second end portion. The anti-pinch plate includes one or more band receiving apertures formed so as to accept the band and allow the band to pass therethrough, wherein the anti-pinch plate includes one or more locking notches formed substantially along an edge portion of the anti-pinch plate, wherein the locking notches provide a means for securing at least a portion of the bar to the anti-pinch plate.
A Tourniquet
A tourniquet of flexible material is disclosed. The tourniquet includes an elongate member having a first and a second end, the first end having a notch. The elongate member defines an aperture therethrough, proximate to the first end, for receiving the second end of the elongate member. In use, the elongate member comprises at least one engagement member disposed along its length to engage the aperture.
Tourniquet
The present invention relates a tourniquet, where tightening of the tourniquet is performed by linear motion by pulling a pull-cord. The tourniquet comprises a tensioning device and a strap. The first end of the strap is coupled to the tensioning device. The second end of the strap is wrapped around a limb and fixed to the tensioning device. The tightening of the tourniquet is achieved by pulling a pull-cord. Linear motion by the pull-cord is translated into winding up the strap inside the tensioning device, and thereby achieving a time-effective tightening of the tourniquet without the need of high forces.
Compression unit and a radial artery compression system
The invention relates to a compression unit adapted to be arranged around a patient's forearm to provide pressure to a radial artery puncture site, wherein the compression unit comprises a unit attachment band provided with a frame, and a compression element in the shape of an inflatable bladder, the compression element is further adapted to be arranged within said frame, such that when the compression unit is arranged around a patient's forearm, the compression element provides pressure to the puncture wound when the compression element is inflated. The invention also relates to a radial artery compression system.
Pressure wraps and methods of using pressure wraps
Pressure wraps include an elongated elastic strap and an adjustable loop formed in the elongated elastic strap. The elongated elastic strap is wrapped around a subject to form a plurality of loops, and provides selectively variable amounts of pressure depending on the amount of tension applied to the elongated elastic strap as the loops are formed around the subject. The size of the adjustable loop is configured to be selectively varied via an adjustment component. Pressure wraps may include a plurality of discrete regions of hooks compatible with the pile of the elongated elastic strap, which are configured to inhibit unintentional unwrapping during application. A securement is configured to secure the distal end of the elongated elastic strap to an intermediate portion of the strap, thereby securing the pressure wrap with respect to the subject. The securement may include a manipulatable fastener and/or an automatic fastener for securing the strap.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTABLE AND SIMULTANEOUS MULTIPLE VESSEL COMPRESSION
There is described a device for applying an adjustable and simultaneous compression on vessel access points. The device comprises a frame comprising a body with at least two cavities through the body to be placed about surfaces of a patient corresponding to the at least two cavities. At least two compression members are movably fitted in the cavities, wherein a portion of the frame defines a space into which a portion of the compression member is fitted and around which it hinges. A side of the compression members opposite a portion around which it hinges comprises a locking mechanism which releasably engages with the frame at an interface between said side and the frame to lock each one of the at least two compression members in a given hinge position for applying the pressure onto the vessel access point depending on the hinge position.
Swallow exerciser
A swallow exerciser device that exercises and thereby strengthens the muscles involved in swallowing includes a rigid shell, an adjustable fastener, and an inflatable pad. The rigid shell has a longitudinal dimension such that the shell extends above and below the larynx of the subject when the swallow exerciser device is positioned over the larynx of the subject. The adjustable fastener is dimensioned to secure the shell around a neck of the subject with the shell positioned over the larynx of the subject. The inflatable pad is connected to a proximal surface of the shell. The inflatable pad is dimensioned to apply resistance to force of at least one swallowing muscle of the subject when the shell positioned over the larynx of the subject and when the inflatable pad is in an inflated position. The swallow exerciser device can be used in a method for improving swallowing function in a subject.
SECONDARY DEVICE HOLDER AND COMPRESSION SYSTEM, METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A device that holds a radial sheath, catheter or similar structure in place during surgical procedures. The device has a strap configured to fit around a patient's wrist and a two-part section that includes a sheath holder or clamp. The clamp is configured to accept a free end of the sheath or other device and to allow the physician access to the open end of that sheath so that they can insert instruments through it. The second section contains a compression device that, when positioned over the puncture site, can be expanded such that it provides pressure and patent hemostasis to the site to stop bleeding. Adhesive surfaces with peel away releasable liners on one or more surfaces of the device allow the flap featuring the compression balloon to be folded over onto the flap containing the sheath clamp and hold it in place.
