Patient selectable joint arthroplasty devices and surgical tools
Disclosed herein are tools for repairing articular surfaces repair materials and for repairing an articular surface. The surgical tools are designed to be customizable or highly selectable by patient to increase the speed, accuracy and simplicity of performing total or partial arthroplasty.
Patella drill guide and trial surgical instrument
An orthopedic surgical instrument includes a patella trial and drill guide that may be used to both perform a surgical trial of the patellofemoral joint and guide the surgeon in drilling a number of anchor holes in the patella of the patient.
Patella resection guide with independent adjustment
A patellar resection guide includes a frame, a first jaw, and a second jaw. The frame includes a first end, at which the first jaw is disposed, and a second end opposed to the first end at which the second jaw is disposed. The guide further includes an arm with a planar surface for guiding a cutting tool. The arm is either or both of rotatable and translatable relative to the frame.
Joint Arthroplasty Devices and Surgical Tools
Disclosed herein are methods, compositions and tools for repairing articular surfaces repair materials and for repairing an articular surface. The articular surface repairs are customizable or highly selectable by patient and geared toward providing optimal fit and function. The surgical tools are designed to be customizable or highly selectable by patient to increase the speed, accuracy and simplicity of performing total or partial arthroplasty.
OPERATION EQUIPMENT FOR KNEE SURGERY, OPERATING ROOM PROVIDED WITH SUCH EQUIPMENT, ASSEMBLY KIT, AND CORRESPONDING METHODS FOR ASSEMBLY, OPERATION AND USE
Disclosed is an innovation in the manner of surgically exposing the knee during total or partial knee arthroplasty, because currently, and as it has always been the case, the conventional surgical approach for the knee used the anterior route but also the medial route, where it was necessary to sever the whole tissue attachment of the inner bone border thereof, said tissue attachment comprising the capsule (envelope), the medial patellofemoral ligament and the tendon of the vastus medialis oblique (muscle) of the quadriceps. The present invention relates in particular to operating equipment intended to facilitate and/or implement a new and innovative surgical approach.
Trial patella component kit
A kit for use in knee replacement surgery includes a trial patella component and a patella implant component. The trial patella component includes a backing plate having a backing surface for positioning against a patient's patella, and at least one sensor which can generate a signal corresponding to the compressive load applied to the trial patella component, and a first bearing plate which can be fitted to the backing plate and which, when fitted to the backing plate, provides a bearing surface for articulation against a bearing surface on the patient's femur. The patella implant component has a backing surface for fixation to a patient's patella instead of the backing surface of the trial patella component, and a bearing surface for articulation against a femoral bearing surface. The thickness of the patella implant component is greater than the thickness of the trial patella component when the first bearing plate is fitted to the backing plate, the difference between the said thicknesses being at least about 1 mm.
Patella Tracking
Disclosed herein are a surgical system for patella tracking and a method for selecting a properly-sized patellar implant utilizing the same. The surgical system may include first and second trackers and a patellar tracking system. The first tracker may be configured to contact an unresected or a resected patella, and the second tracker may be configured to contact a bone. The patellar tracking system may be configured to track the first and second trackers during patellar flexion and extension to generate patellar range of motion and patellar trial range of motion. A method for selecting a patellar implant may utilize the first and second trackers and the patellar tracking system.
Self leveling patellar drill guide
A patella drill guide includes a head having a convexly curved outer surface. Cylindrical channels extend through the head. The drill guide also includes collar having an inner surface that defines a concavity corresponding in shape to the convexly curved outer surface. The inner surface of the collar is fitted to the outer surface of the head to define an articular joint.
