A surgical implant system includes a surgical implant and at least one fixation device. The surgical implant includes a first side member, a second side member, a distal member and a proximal member. The first side member is disposed in opposed relation relative to the second side member, the first and second side members including distal and proximal ends. The distal member is disposed in opposed, spaced relation relative to the proximal member. The distal member extends across one end of the surgical implant between the first and second side member connecting distal ends of the first and second side members. The proximal member extends across a second end of the surgical implant connecting the proximal ends of the first and second side members. The fixation device is inserted in and advanced through osseous tissue and traverses the openings of the first and second side members.

Minimally invasive surgical drill guide and method

A minimally invasive surgical drill guide includes an elongated drill jig having at least one drill guide opening for defining a location and drill element guide axis for placement of a surgical drill element. The drill jig can have an engagement end with engagement structure. A positioning arm includes an elongated shaft with an axis and a locating end portion shaped to engage a bony part of a patient. The elongated shaft can have engagement structure for engaging to the engagement structure of the drill jig to support the drill jig crosswise relative to the position arm and to support the drill guide opening of the drill jig at a location remote from the axis of the elongated shaft of the positioning arm. The drill jig can be detachable from the positioning arm. A method for minimally invasive surgical drilling is also disclosed.

A surgical guide tool to visually aid in setting of the desired leg length and femoral offset of a patient inter-operatively during direct anterior approach arthroplasty. The tool comprises a femur contact member able to make at least two point contact with the femur and a pelvis contact member able to make at least one point contact with the pelvis. The femur contact member and the pelvis contact member are coupled together. They can move relative to each other to allow them to contact the femur and pelvis respectively. They can also be made to lock relative to each other to be used as a guide for setting the leg length and femoral offset provided for by the hip prosthetic.

Arthroplasty jigs and related methods are disclosed. Some of the arthroplasty jigs may comprise a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, and a positioning component. Certain of the methods may comprise providing such an arthroplasty jig, and aligning the jig body with a surface of a bone so that the positioning component provides at least one of a visible, audible, or tactile indication that such alignment has been achieved. Some of the arthroplasty jigs may comprise a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, and that is marked with identifying information. Certain of the methods may comprise providing an arthroplasty jig comprising a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, or providing an arthroplasty jig blank, and marking the arthroplasty jig or the arthroplasty jig blank with identifying information.

The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus which includes a blade guide block which has a plurality of blade guide slots and a central cavity. The blade guide block central cavity is positioned over the trunnion end of the existing prosthesis to be removed and secured to the prothesis. Straight, curved and compound curved knife blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the prothesis free. The securing of the guide blade block support apparatus against the femur is accomplished by the means of a male threaded T handle screw or male threaded eyebolt threading into one of the female threaded orifices in the blade guide block frame. The guide blocks in varying sizes and configurations, straight and curved knifes blades and related accessories may be sold as a complete kit. The Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery.

Method for treating joint pain and associated instruments

The embodiments provide provides devices, instruments, and associated methods for treating joint pain. A joint is evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging to detect any defects in the subchondral bone. For example, using T2-weighted MRI images, bone marrow lesions or edemas can be identified, and using T1-weighted MRI images, associated regions of sclerotic bone adjacent to the bone marrow lesion can be identified. The treatment method may involve introducing a bone void filler material at the site to address the bone marrow lesion or edema, and/or drilling and inserting an implant to address the sclerotic bone, bone marrow lesion or edema, and insufficiency or stress fractures. An access path is mapped to a location in the subchondral region where the insufficiency fracture resides. The access path attempts to preserve an articular surface of the joint. A reinforcing member that stabilizes the insufficiency fracture is then implanted via the access path.

The surgical controller is also programmed to determine the location of the surgical device in relation to the anatomy of the patient and provide real-time visualization on the virtual object of the location of the surgical device in relation to the anatomy of the patient.

A method for performing a surgical procedure related to a pelvis of a patient comprises adjusting a length between ends of a digitizer device to a distance between opposite landmarks of the pelvis of the patient. The ends of the digitizer device are applied against the opposite landmarks of the pelvis. An inertial sensor unit of the digitizer device is initialized to set an orientation of the digitizer device relative to a medio-lateral axis of the patient, the medio-lateral axis of the patient being part of a pelvic coordinate system. A tool is navigated within the pelvic coordinate system during a surgical procedure.
