Devices, systems, and methods for providing surgical access and facilitating closure of surgical access openings
A guide member is configured for guiding a suture passer through a cannula and tissue surrounding the cannula to facilitate closure of an opening in tissue. The guide member includes a guide housing and an elongated guide shaft. The guide housing is configured for releasably engaging the guide member with the cannula and defines an entry aperture. The elongated guide shaft extends distally from the guide housing and defines an annular exterior surface. An exit aperture is defined through the annular exterior surface. The guide member defines a lumen extending from the entry aperture, through the guide housing and the elongated guide shaft, to the exit aperture. The entry aperture, lumen, and exit aperture cooperating to define a passageway extending through the guide member.
MRI guided biopsy device with rotating depth stop device
A bi-directional depth stop for use with biopsy instrument including a body and a pair of blades. The body defines a channel sized to receive a cannula associated with the biopsy instrument. The channel includes a first pair of opposing concave surfaces and a second pair of opposing concave surfaces. The first pair and second pair of opposing concave surfaces together form a superimposed bi-oval-shaped cross-section. Each blade of the pair of blades projects inwardly into a concave surface of the first pair of opposing concave surfaces such the pair of blades are disposed on an opposing side of the body. In some instances, the concave surfaces may be beneficial to provide rotation of the dept stop in two directions rather than a single direction.
COMPRESSION PADDLES FOR BREAST BIOPSIES
Described herein are paddles for breast biopsies. A reverse paddle and a compression paddle may be used in a breast biopsy. Both paddles may each have an aperture. When pressed against the breast, the reverse paddle and the compression paddle may allow the breast to bulge out of the aperture of both paddles during the biopsy. As the breast tissue bulges out of both paddles, the breast tissue to be examined via biopsy may be enlarged, thereby lessening the use of excisional biopsies on subjects with thin breasts.
NEEDLE AND INTRODUCER USED IN LEAD PLACEMENT FOR OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT
A system for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is described. The system may include a locking device having a size and shape selected to couple to skin along a jaw of a patient. The locking device may be configured to receive at least one of a needle or an introducer for insertion into a tongue of the patient for lead placement of a lead for OSA treatment, and lock at least a portion of the at least one of the needle or introducer in place to reduce movement of the needle or introducer within the tongue.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LAPIDUS REPAIR OF BUNIONS
Systems, devices, and methods for performing Lapidus bunionectomy procedures are disclosed. An example method includes inserting a plurality of metatarsal pins into the first metatarsal at a first predetermined spacing relative to the first tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint, excising the first TMT joint by cutting the bases of the first metatarsal and the first cuneiform proximate the first TMT joint, inserting a plurality of cuneiform pins into the first cuneiform at a second predetermined spacing relative to the first TMT joint, compressing the first TMT joint using a compressor block such that a cut face of the first metatarsal contacts a cut face of the first cuneiform, and fixing the first TMT joint using a bone plate and a plurality of bone screws. At least one of the plurality of bone screws may be a cross screw extending at an angle of less than 90 degrees relative to the bone plate and may anchor the resected first TMT joint to the second metatarsal or the second cuneiform to prevent recurrence of the bunion.
Image guidance system
It is an object of the invention to provide for a system that can be used to improve a cancer related clinical workflow compared to the current cancer related clinical workflow. This object is achieved by an image guided system configured for supporting a combined biopsy and treatment procedure using image guidance to bring a needle from a defined location to a predetermined end location in a subject of interest. The image guidance system comprises a medical imaging system (580) configured for acquisition of medical images of a region of interest (403) in the subject of interest, wherein the medical images are used to determine a current position of the predetermined end location (404). The image guidance system further comprises needle guidance system (402, 403) configured for defining a needle position in space and thereby defining the defined location (405, 406) and configured for guiding a biopsy and treatment needle into the region of interest. The image guidance system also comprises a user interface system (530) configured for supporting both the biopsy and treatment procedure, such that a patient setup needs to be executed only once. The user interface system (530) comprises a calibration unit (540) for aligning the needle guidance system (402, 403) with the medical images.
Guide inserts for insertable medical tools and associated method thereof
A guide insert for use in insertion of a medical tool into a patient and an associated method of using the guide insert in a medical device are disclosed. The guide insert includes a base sized and shaped to be inserted into an opening of a grid of the medical device, a rotatable structure configured to fit on or within the base, and a securing cap configured to secure the rotatable structure to the base and to prevent rotation of the rotatable structure when secured.
INJECTION INSTRUMENT SET
An injection instrument set includes a tubular injection instrument in which an injection liquid is contained, and a guide member disposed on a surface of an injection target of the injection liquid. The injection instrument includes an injection needle which is inserted into the injection target to inject the injection liquid into the injection target. The guide member includes a guide passage which is disposed at a predetermined angle with respect to a surface of the guide member which comes into contact with the injection target and which allows the injection needle to be inserted and guides the injection needle onto the surface of the injection target, and an anti-slip portion disposed at a portion at which the guide member comes into contact with the surface of the injection target.
ELECTROPORATION DEVICE
An electroporation device for injecting a product into a ciliary muscle of an eye includes a support having a spherical support contact surface extending along a virtual sphere having a radius between 10 and 15 mm, a first electrode comprising a curved invasive electrode needle, a second electrode having an electrically conductive electrode contact surface, and an injection needle.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT STABILIZATION DEVICE
In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to guide and support a medical device, such as a needle, relative to the skin of a patient. In some embodiments, the apparatus is attached to the skin of a patient through suction or adhesive materials, and allows for accurate placement of the medical instrument.
