System and method for prostate treatment under local anesthesia
A system and method for prostate cancer treatment under local anesthesia includes creating a superficial skin and subcutaneous block in a perineal area of a patient by administering a first anesthetizing agent; creating a deep nerve block under ultrasound guidance by administering a second anesthetizing agent, the second anesthetizing agent infiltrating cavernosal nerve bundle tissue and periprostatic space; and ablating prostate tissue. The office-based method, statistical models and computer generated treatment plans identify and ablate prostate tissue containing cancer through or via the perineum while preserving prostate function, and critical anatomical structures. Multiple technologies are integrated and processed to deliver a safe treatment procedure, under local anesthesia by integrating the information of magnetic resonance imaging and planning the ablative treatment using algorithms that ensure maximal precision in both killing cancerous tissue and preserving healthy tissue along with its corresponding function.
Trajectory array guide system
The present disclosure presents a trajectory array guide system for defining a trajectory to a target location in the brain of a subject and for guiding an elongated tool along the trajectory. The trajectory array guide system can comprise: a base, an array guide, an imaging unit, and an elongated handle configured for connection with a stereotaxic navigation system. The present disclosure presents a method of using a trajectory array guide system for defining a trajectory to a target location in the brain of a subject and for guiding an elongated tool along the trajectory.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING A MEDICAL INSTRUMENT AND APPARATUS COMPRISING SUCH A DEVICE
The invention relates to a holder device for holding a medical instrument, the device comprising:
a base that is to be carried by an apparatus comprising a medical imaging probe associated with the medical instrument; and
a carrier structure for carrying the medical instrument and movably mounted on the base so as to be capable of moving on the base between a first position and a second position.
The invention also relates to an installation including both such a device and a needle-guide.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR ASSISTING OR PERFORMING GUIDED INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES USING CUSTOM TEMPLATES
Systems, methods, and devices are provided for assisting or performing guided interventional procedures using custom templates. The system uses pre-procedure scans of a patient's anatomy to identify targets and critical structures. A template is then manufactured containing guide elements. During a procedure, the template may be aligned to the patient and instruments passed though the guide elements and into various targets. The template may be aligned using one or more of, for example, a position sensing system or a live imaging modality to register the patient to the template. The system makes optional use of devices designed to immobilize or track an organ during therapy.
IMAGING NEEDLE GUIDE
A needle guide comprising a base to which a pair of horizontal slide bars are secured, the horizontal slide bars including a channel opening running between the bars, a needle stabilizer with a central tube is slideably engaged with the pair of horizontal slide bars, wherein the needle stabilizer extends through the channel opening and has the ability to change positions along a length of the horizontal slide bar, an angular ruler is secured to the base and located proximal to the needle stabilizer to allow accurate adjustment of the angle of the externally adjustable needle guide and one or more virtual visualization bars to aid in visualization using radiography, ultrasound, or magnetic resonance (or any other medical imaging technology) to visualize the virtual visualization bars.
POSITIONING SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR POSITIONING A MEDICAL DEVICE
One or more example embodiments relate to a positioning support system for positioning a medical device based on at least one medical image, the positioning support system comprising at least one channel for the medical device and configured to be pierced with the medical device, the channel configured to be at an acute first angle to a normal of a surface, the channel including a water-containing medium including at least one polymerizable component, the water-containing medium being configured to cure after being pierced with the medical device when the medical device is coated with a polymerization catalyst, wherein the positioning support system is configured to be placed on the surface, and the positioning support system permits the medical device in the water-containing medium to be depicted in the at least one medical image.
SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR SINGLE-OPERATOR NEURAXIAL MEDICAL DEVICE PROCEDURES USING REAL-TIME ULTRASOUND GUIDANCE
Aspects of the present disclosure describe medical device placement, including devices, systems and methods for placing catheters, such as epidural catheters, or other medical devices, such as needles, using a guide on a sterile ultrasound sheath.
SYSTEM, METHOD, AND DEVICE FOR PERFORMING ARTHROGRAPHY
In an embodiment, the present disclosure relates to a system for performing arthrography, comprising a physical grid positioned on skin of a patient proximate a region of interest of a joint on which the arthrography is to be performed, and processing circuitry configured to receive medical images of the patient, the received medical images being acquired by a same imaging modality and having visible a portion of the physical grid, determine a trajectory between an entry point identified on the physical grid and a target point identified within the region of interest of the joint, and generate a target entry angle based on the determined trajectory between the identified entry point and the identified target point, wherein a needle guide device, configured to releasably-hold a needle, is positionable according to the identified entry point and target entry angle.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR REGISTERING AND TRACKING ORGANS DURING INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES
Systems, methods, and devices are provided for assisting or performing guided interventional procedures using specialized catheters and inserts. A bend altering device is introduced into a conduit in an organ causing it to take on a tortuous path and to assist in its visualization. A scan is performed of a patient's anatomy to identify targets critical structures and the path of the conduit. A bend altering device containing position indicating elements is placed into the conduit in the same path as before the scan. During a procedure, the pre-procedure scans may be registered to the patient using the location of the position indicating elements in the conduit. This registration may be used in an intervention to guide instruments and templates to obtain diagnostic information or provide therapy to the targets identified in the scans.
INTERVENTIONAL LOCALIZATION GUIDE AND METHOD FOR MRI GUIDED PELVIC INTERVENTIONS
Interventional localization guides and methods for MRI guided pelvic interventions are disclosed. The interventional localization guides can include a stereotactic perineum positioning device having integrated MR receive coil array and fiducial receive array. The interventional localization guide can also include a physical template for guiding a surgical device, such as a biopsy needle. In various instances, the MRI guided pelvic interventions including co-registering biopsy locations on third party MRI scans.
