Needle guide template for perirectal spacer and fiducial marker placement
11759232 · 2023-09-19 ·

A template grid which attaches to an ultrasound stepper of a transrectal ultrasound unit providing transperineal guidance and support through adjustable angle apertures allowing for accurate targeting of a medical implant such as a needle to its intended target such as for purposes of perirectal spacer placement. The rotational apertures allow for free adjustable changes in the trajectory of a medial implant such as a needle to its intended target while providing stability and support to the medical implant itself. The template grid, in addition, contains fixed apertures for placement of a medical implant such as a needle into the substance of the prostate gland positioned to avoid inadvertent passage through the urethra and rectum.

A probe assembly comprising: an electrode-based probe comprising a probe head and one or more slender electrodes extending from the probe head for insertion into biological tissue; and a support element disposed around one or more of said electrodes, distal from the probe head, the support element comprising one or more apertures through which said one or more electrodes pass, the probe head and said electrode(s) being movable relative to the support element during insertion; wherein the support element is configured to constrain the angle of the end of the said electrode(s) at the point of insertion into the tissue. Also provided is an insertion device for inserting the electrode(s) of such a probe assembly into biological tissue, the insertion device comprising: means for holding the support element against the tissue or in close proximity to the tissue; and means for applying an insertion force to the probe head, to drive the probe head towards the support element and thereby cause the electrode(s) to move through the aperture(s) in the support element and become inserted into the tissue.

Systems and methods for Lapidus repair of bunions

Systems, devices, and methods for performing Lapidus bunionectomy procedures are disclosed. An example method includes inserting a plurality of metatarsal pins into the first metatarsal at a first predetermined spacing relative to the first tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint, excising the first TMT joint by cutting the bases of the first metatarsal and the first cuneiform proximate the first TMT joint, inserting a plurality of cuneiform pins into the first cuneiform at a second predetermined spacing relative to the first TMT joint, compressing the first TMT joint using a compressor block such that a cut face of the first metatarsal contacts a cut face of the first cuneiform, and fixing the first TMT joint using a bone plate and a plurality of bone screws. At least one of the plurality of bone screws may be a cross screw extending at an angle of less than 90 degrees relative to the bone plate and may anchor the resected first TMT joint to the second metatarsal or the second cuneiform to prevent recurrence of the bunion.

A conformable guide for directing penile injections has an elastomeric or conformable tube having an open end distally for passing over a glans and a shaft of a penis toward a root of the penis on placement. The conformable guide can have an annulus shaped spirally wrapped portion of the elastomeric tube at the distal end configured to unwrap on placement toward the root. The elastomeric tube has one or more observable injection site locations marked or otherwise indicated on the elastomeric tube when positioned onto the shaft of the penis. The conformable guide is made of a stretchable synthetic polymer.

Puncture adapter, ultrasonic probe, and ultrasonic probe unit for needle guide attachment

A puncture adapter of an embodiment holds a puncture needle and is attached to an ultrasonic probe having an ultrasonic probe group. The puncture adapter has a puncture bracket that can be fixed to the ultrasonic probe and a puncture needle guide that is attached to the puncture bracket. The puncture bracket is not fixed to the ultrasonic probe when the puncture needle guide is not attached. The puncture bracket is fixed to the ultrasonic probe when the puncture needle guide is attached.

A method of performing a therapy on a prostate of a patient via transperineal access. The therapy uses an ultrasound probe. The method includes positioning a pair of stabilization members of a needle guide adjacent the perineum. The pair of stabilization members spaced apart from each other and supporting a platform configured to slide along a portion of a length of the pair of stabilization members. The needle guide is coupled to the ultrasound probe. The method further includes coupling an access needle to the platform, and sliding the platform and the access needle relative to the pair of stabilization members and the ultrasound probe so the access needle extends into the perineum. And the method further includes, using the access needle as a conduit, injecting a radiation blocking substance between the rectum and the prostate.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROSTATE TREATMENT UNDER LOCAL ANESTHESIA
20230310789 · 2023-10-05 · ·

A system and method for prostate cancer treatment under local anesthesia includes creating a superficial skin and subcutaneous block in a perineal area of a patient by administering a first anesthetizing agent; creating a deep nerve block under ultrasound guidance by administering a second anesthetizing agent, the second anesthetizing agent infiltrating cavernosal nerve bundle tissue and periprostatic space; and ablating prostate tissue. The office-based method, statistical models and computer generated treatment plans identify and ablate prostate tissue containing cancer through or via the perineum while preserving prostate function, and critical anatomical structures. Multiple technologies are integrated and processed to deliver a safe treatment procedure, under local anesthesia by integrating the information of magnetic resonance imaging and planning the ablative treatment using algorithms that ensure maximal precision in both killing cancerous tissue and preserving healthy tissue along with its corresponding function.

Method for removing a tattoo through patterned trans-epidermal pigment release

Embodiments of a method for removing a tattoo through patterned trans-epidermal pigment release includes determining first treatment area of skin of a patient through a primary template including primary apertures, marking the first treatment area of skin of the patient along borders of the primary apertures to outline a grid of primary tegulae, and delivering a tattoo removal fluid to the marked first exposed skin. In an alternate embodiment, a template, which may be adhered to the skin, is used during a microneedling process to create a structured, patterned procedure to remove skin irregularities. The template has a plurality of needle apertures, an adhesive layer, and a release liner. The release liner may be removed, exposing the adhesive layer, so that the template, with the plurality of needle apertures, may be positioned over the skin irregularity.
