Access device methods of using the same
According to an aspect, a medical device includes an elongate member having a sidewall. The sidewall defines a lumen. The lumen has a non-circular cross-sectional shape.
DILATION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A method of forming an access opening through a psoas muscle to a patient's spine includes laterally inserting a stimulating dilator into the psoas muscle. The stimulating dilator has a stimulation channel formed in an outer surface thereof. An electrical pulse is transmitted into the stimulating dilator to locate a position of a nerve in the patient's psoas muscle. The stimulating dilator is laterally inserted through the psoas muscle and toward the patient's spine in a way that avoids the nerve. A stimulating probe is inserted into the stimulation channel along the outer surface of the stimulating dilator while transmitting an electrical pulse into the stimulating probe to verify the position of the nerve.
Surgical laparoscopic ports for implanting medical systems
The present disclosure relates to laparoscopic surgery, and in particular to laparoscopic ports for facilitating the implant of medical systems such as a neuromodulation system into the body of a patient. Particularly, aspects are directed to a cannula assembly having a cannula housing and a cannula sleeve comprising a sleeve body extending from a distal end of the cannula housing. The cannula sleeve has a semi-rectangular cross section including: (i) a rounded rectangular portion configured to accommodate feeding the neuromodulation system through the cannula assembly, and (ii) a circular portion configured to accommodate insertion of the one or more surgical instruments through the cannula assembly.
TISSUE REMOVAL CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS
The tissue removal containment system is provided that includes a tissue removal and/or containment bag arranged to be inserted through an opening into a confined space. The bag has a support or ring having a compressed, partially compressed and/or uncompressed state or position. The bag can also include an enclosure or film defining the enclosure connected to the support with the enclosure having a confined state and a deployed or unconfined state.
DILATOR
Provided is a dilator that can suppress displacement, in a lengthwise axis direction, of a protruding portion that extends in a spiral. The dilator includes a first coil having an outer diameter that increases from a distal end toward a proximal end; and a protruding portion that is provided on the outer periphery of the first coil, and extends along the outer periphery of the first coil in a spiral along a lengthwise axis direction of the first coil. The protruding portion has gaps between adjacent parts of the protruding portion along the lengthwise axis direction. A covering layer is provided that covers at least an outer peripheral surface of the first coil, said outer peripheral surface being located in the gaps. A top portion of the protruding portion is exposed.
DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR USE IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY
An access device for a minimally invasive procedure can include a port body defining an instrument channel for a medical instrument, a radial extension extending at least partially outward from the body in a radial direction. The radial extension can extend from a distal end of the port body. The radial extension can define an imaging device cavity defined therein spaced from the port body and opening distally from the radial extension. The imaging device cavity can be configured to receive an imaging device therein for providing images within a field of view that is at least partially distal of the port body.
MEDICAL MANIPULATOR SYSTEM AND ACCESS DEVICE
A medical manipulator system is equipped with a treatment tool and an access device that guides the treatment tool. The treatment tool includes a flexible shaft equipped with a treatment unit at a distal end, a rigid shaft connected to a proximal end of the flexible shaft, and an operation unit connected to a proximal end of the rigid shaft and configured to operate the treatment unit. The access device includes a flexible tube into which the flexible shaft is to be inserted, and a rigid unit connected to a proximal end of the flexible tube. The rigid unit includes an insertion hole into which the rigid shaft is to be inserted. An inner surface of the insertion hole has a projection that projects radially inward. The projection faces an outer circumferential surface of the rigid shaft inserted into the insertion hole.
LATERAL SPINOUS PROCESS SPACER WITH DEPLOYABLE WINGS
Interspinous process implants are disclosed. Also disclosed are systems and kits including such implants, methods of inserting such implants, and methods of alleviating pain or discomfort associated with the spinal column.
MULTI-DIAMETER CANNULA
A catheter assembly may include a cannula. The cannula may include a distal tip, an elongated tubular shaft, and an inner lumen formed by the elongated tubular shaft. A first portion of the elongated tubular shaft may have a first outer diameter. The first portion may be proximate the distal tip. A second portion of the elongated tubular shaft may have a second outer diameter. The second outer diameter may be greater than the first outer diameter. The catheter assembly may also include a catheter adapter, which may include a catheter and a catheter hub. The second portion of the elongated tubular shaft may be at least partially disposed in the catheter hub.
Surgery system and endoscope
Provided are a surgery system that can ensure insulation between an endoscope and a treatment tool. The endoscope has an insertion part that is insertable into an overtube and has a distal end, a proximal end, and a longitudinal axis, and is locked to the movable body by an endoscope holding part. The endoscope has a first insertion part that is provided on a distal end side of the insertion part, a second insertion part that is provided on a proximal end side of the first insertion part and has an external diameter larger than that of the first insertion part, and a held part that is provided from a distal end of the second insertion part toward a proximal end side thereof, is held by the endoscope holding part, and has at least a surface formed of an insulating member having an insulation property.
