System and Method for Cleaning a Cannula During a Surgical Procedure Using a Hinged Tip
Cannula and scope cleaning apparatus and associated methods of use are provided which allow for the clearing/cleaning of a cannula and cleaning of a viewing scope during a medical procedure, wherein the apparatus can be configured such that the viewing scope need not be removed from within the cannula in order for debris and/or fogging to be removed from a lens portion of the scope. In particular embodiments, the cannula and scope cleaning apparatus can be deformable, having an adjustable lumen therein such that when the apparatus can be disposed within a cannula, viewing scopes having various outside diameter sizes can be slidably introduced and stabilized within a cannula.
SURGICAL DEVICES WITH MOISTURE CONTROL
A surgical device including a handle assembly, an elongated portion, an end effector, a drive shaft, and a wick is disclosed. The wick is disposed within an outer sleeve of the elongated portion and is made from a fibrous material. The wick is configured to transfer moisture from a first portion of the wick to a second portion of the wick.
Medication sleeve for a trocar assembly
An obturator sleeve for a trocar assembly and method of its use are disclosed for infiltrating a liquid medication such as a local anesthetic into the tissue walls of a port site wound during a laparoscopic procedure. The sleeve includes an internal flow passage for receiving the liquid medication. A diffusion polymer, located within the internal flow passage, first absorbs the liquid medication and then releases the liquid medication through a plurality of apertures in the sleeve. When port site wound tissue contacts the diffusion polymer, the diffusion polymer within the sleeve steadily releases the absorbed medication through the plurality of apertures. The obturator sleeve provides a means to adequately infiltrate medication into the tissues of the port site wound, and can be used to block the free nerve endings of the port site wound as well as nearby sensory and motor nerves.
Multi-functional protective sleeve for wound of soft tissue during operation
A multi-functional soft tissue wound protective sleeve includes: a waste collection bag including a bottom patch and a surface patch connected to form a cavity; a bottom ring to be inserted into a human body, to push away human tissues surrounding the bottom ring to form a surgery space; a flip ring located above the waste collection bag and having an adjustable distance with the bottom ring, to prevent waste from touching a surgical surface; a medical inner membrane connecting the bottom ring to the flip ring and defining a surgery channel to the surgery space; a positioning ring sealed with a hole edge of the surgery through-hole on the bottom patch; and a medical outer membrane connecting the positioning ring to the flip ring so as to guide waste escaping the surgery channel over the flip ring to flow into the waste collection bag.
TROCAR ASSEMBLY WITH A CLEANING ELEMENT FOR USE DURING A LAPAROSCOPIC PROCEDURE
The present disclosure relates to a trocar assembly with an integrated scope-cleaning structure. The trocar assembly may include a housing defining boundaries of a chamber with (a) a proximal opening configured to receive a distal end of a scope, and (b) a distal opening in fluid and mechanical communication with a trocar cannula. The trocar assembly may further include a cleaning element located at least partially between the proximal opening and the distal opening, where the cleaning element is movable with respect to the housing from at least a first setting where a first portion of the cleaning element may be in a first location and may form a first cleaning surface within the chamber, the first cleaning surface configured to remove debris from a distal end of the scope when the distal end of the scope contacts the first portion of the cleaning element.
Seal assembly with integral filter and evacuation port
A seal assembly for use with an access apparatus includes an integral filter and evacuation port for filtering of fluids, e.g., smoke, from an operating site and removing contaminants and/or odor from the fluids for release of the filtered fluids into the ambient atmosphere. The seal assembly may be a separate subassembly or component which is releasably couplable to the access apparatus or may be integral with the access apparatus. The seal assembly defines its own flow path independent of the insufflation mechanism of the cannula assembly, and is capable of filtering fluids even in the presence of a surgical object positioned within the cannula assembly.
Devices and methods for ablation of the skin
Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, kits, and methods for treating skin, such as skin tightening or for treating diseases, disorders, and conditions that would benefit from tissue area or volume reduction, skin restoration, skin tightening, skin lifting, and/or skin repositioning and/or for generally improving skin function or appearance (e.g., the removal of unwanted skin features or irregularities such as sebaceous glands, sweat glands, hair follicles, necrosis, and fibrosis). Such apparatuses, systems, kits, and methods comprise an apparatus having a handheld main body and a detachably attachable tip comprising one or more needles.
Port reservoir cleaning system and method
Devices and methods for cleaning a port, including a port reservoir and other aspects of the port, whereby a trocar/cannula assembly is introduced to the port reservoir. The trocar is withdrawn from the port reservoir, providing access to the reservoir. A cleaning member is then advanced through the cannula, and can remove an unwanted material therefrom.
Introducer for introduction of a prosthesis into a lumen of a patient
An introducer and a delivery assembly for introduction of a prosthesis into a bodily lumen is disclosed. The introducer comprises: a sheath; a housing mounted to a distal end of the sheath, the housing having a passage there-through adapted to receive a delivery assembly; a port for introducing flushing fluid, the port communicating with the passage; and a liquid absorbing seal for sealably receiving the delivery assembly, the liquid absorbing seal disposed within the housing distally of the port. The delivery assembly comprises: a guide wire catheter; a tip mounted to a proximal end of the guide wire catheter; a distal delivery member mounted around the guide wire catheter and located distal of the tip; and a prosthesis receiving portion between the tip and the distal delivery member. The delivery assembly is slidably mounted through the introducer. Absorption of fluid swells the liquid absorbing seal.
