Access sheath
An access sheath is provided. The access sheath comprises: an outer sheath extending in one direction and having a cavity formed along a longitudinal axis of the outer sheath; and an inner sheath arranged in the cavity of the outer sheath, and having a plurality of balloons configured to expand, wherein the outer sheath includes: an outer body formed of a first material; and an elastic connection part formed of a second material which is more flexible than the first material of the outer body, and wherein a diameter of the outer sheath increases by the elastic connection part which expands according to an expansion of the balloons.
Introducer Sheaths for Endoscopes and Related Methods
A sheath for inserting a cannula of an endoscope into a cavity of a patient is described herein. The sheath comprises an introducer, a support channel and a pull-tab. The introducer has an open end being sized and shaped to accept a tip of the cannula and a tip end adapted to be deflected in an outward direction by the tip of the cannula passing into the introducer. The support channel is adapted to receive a shaft of the cannula and guide the tip of the cannula into the introducer; and the pull provides a finger hold for a user to grasp the sheath. In some aspects, the introducer includes a plurality of extending segments having a normally closed position defining a conical exterior shape of the introducer, with the plurality of tapered segments adapted to be separated by the tip of the cannula passing through the introducer.
ROBOTIC DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR PERFORMING SINGLE INCISION PROCEDURES AND NATURAL ORIFICE TRANSLUMENAL ENDOSCOPIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES, AND METHODS OF CONFIGURING ROBOTIC DEVICES AND SYSTEMS
Example embodiments relate to surgical systems having end-effector assembly, first and second arm assemblies, and elbow joint assembly. End-effector assembly includes instrument assembly and wrist assembly. Instrument assembly includes a first instrument. First arm assembly includes a body, first and second instrument drive assemblies, wrist drive assembly, and first arm drive assembly. First instrument drive assembly is configurable to move first instrument relative to first axis. Wrist drive assembly is configurable to move instrument assembly relative second axis. First arm drive assembly is configurable to rotate end-effector assembly relative to third axis. Elbow joint assembly includes elbow pitch joint portion configurable to be driven to move first arm assembly relative to fourth axis. Elbow joint assembly also includes elbow sway joint portion configurable to be driven to move first arm assembly relative to fifth axis.
Portable endoscope and method of use thereof
One embodiment provides a portable endoscope. The portable endoscope includes a case configured to enclose at least electrical components of the portable endoscope. The electrical components include a camera configured to capture video content within a body of a patient. The components include one or more lights at least partially encompassing the camera. The one or more lights are adapted to illuminate internal portions of the body of the patient. The components include a transceiver in electrical communication with the camera. The transceiver is configured to receive the video content from the camera and wirelessly transmit the video content to a computing or communications device. The components include a battery configured to provide electrical energy to the camera, the one or more lights, and the transceiver. Each of the electrical components are interchangeable within the case.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING VAGINAL LACERATIONS DURING CHILDBIRTH
A vaginal dilation device is provided that may include any of a number of features. One feature of the vaginal dilation device is that it is configured to dilate vaginal tissue during labor to prevent tissue damage. Another feature of the vaginal dilation device is that it can be manually controlled to dilate vaginal tissue, or can be automatically controlled to dilate vaginal tissue. In some embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to measure a force applied by the device to tissue. In other embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to apply a constant force to tissue. In other embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to expand at a constant rate. Methods associated with use of the vaginal dilation device are also provided.
Guide system with suction
A guide catheter for use in treating sinuses, the catheter including a catheter shaft configured to provide suction about a balloon catheter and a distal portion shaped for navigating body anatomy. In one embodiment, the guide catheter includes a valve for sealing the balloon catheter and a vent for controlling suction.
Modular body cavity access system
A system for accessing a body cavity, such as a paranasal sinus, may include a sinus access member and a handle. The sinus access member may include a rigid support tube, a curved shape memory member slidably disposed at least partially within the rigid support tube, a flexible tube slidably disposed over at least part of the curved shape memory member, and proximal coupling end. The handle may include an engagement mechanism at a distal end for releasably attaching to the proximal coupling end of the sinus access member, a housing for gripping with a hand, a curving slider for extending and retracting the curved shape memory member, and an extension slider for extending and retracting the flexible tube relative to the curved shape memory member and the rigid support tube. The handle may be reusable, and the sinus access member may be disposable.
Systems and methods to ensure gas egress during cryotherapy
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of cryotherapy. In particular, the present disclosure relates to cryotherapy systems that ensure egress of cryogen gas delivered within a patient's body during cryotherapy procedures and, more particularly, sensors for use with cryotherapy systems that include delivery catheters wherein the systems ensure that egress of cryogen gas from the patient's body is possible whenever the catheter is operating.
CANNULA STABILIZER FOR EMBRYO TRANSFER
The embryo transfer cannula stabilizer is a device attached to a vaginal speculum, which allows the sliding, placement, and secure fixing of a cannula to perform an embryo transfer. The embryo transfer cannula stabilizer prevents fine movement of the user's hand to reduce tremor at the intracervical level and avoid injury to the cervical canal, rupture of blood vessels, and the production of detritus.
NATURAL ORIFICE SURGERY SYSTEM
Embodiments of a surgical access port system that comprises a retractor that is adapted for being coupled to a cap and that is particularly useful in natural orifice surgery are described. The retractor comprises an outer ring, wherein the outer ring is configured to be disposed proximate the natural orifice of the patient and substantially surround the orifice; a tubular body; a funnel segment extending between and coupling the outer ring and the tubular body, wherein the funnel segment provides a diametric reduction between the relatively large diameter of the outer ring and the relatively smaller diameter of the tubular body, which is sized to fit within a natural orifice with minimal distention of the orifice; and an inflatable member disposed around the distal end of the tubular body, the inflatable member sized and configured to fit snugly around the tubular body in the deflated condition and to expand against the wall of the natural orifice in the inflated state to thereby stabilize and retain the retractor within the orifice.
