Methods of long bone repair utilizing continuous compression implants
The present disclosure is directed to a method of surgical repair utilizing a continuous compression staple for an orthopedic injury site having a long bone fracture defining a fracture boundary between a first bone fragment and a second bone fragment. The method can include the steps of aligning the fragments, applying a temporary compressive force to the aligned fragments, inserting a compression staple in a tensioned state into the first and second bone fragments such that it traverses the fracture boundary, releasing tension in the compression staple such that the staple exerts a continuous compressive force to the first and second bone fragments, and securing a neutralization implant to the long bone. The disclosure further includes kits and systems for performing the disclosed surgical methods.
ORTHOPEDIC PLATE, ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE, METHOD OF COUPLING BONE SEGMENTS, AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING AN ORTHOPEDIC PLATE
An orthopedic plate comprising a frame portion having a longitudinal body defining a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal body having at least one side arm extending from the longitudinal body transverse to the longitudinal axis. The frame portion also having a bearing rotatably coupled with the at least one side arm, wherein the bearing defines an opening configured to receive a fastener for fastening the orthopedic plate to a body. The bearing includes an outer surface that is eccentric to the opening such that a position of the opening with respect to the frame portion is adjustable as the bearing rotates.
Ultrasound CT registration for positioning
An assembly for manipulating a bone includes a first manipulating element configured to be attached to a first portion of bone and including a location emitting signal and a second manipulating element configured to be attached to a second portion of bone and including a sensor detecting the location emitting signal to provide a position and orientation signal of the first and second manipulating elements relative to one another. The assembly also includes a tracking unit including a processor tracking movement of the first and second manipulating elements relative to one another in a plurality of dimensions using the position and orientation signals.
SELF-RETAINING BONE HOLDING DEVICES AND METHODS
A system including a tensioning element and a fixation element, the tensioning element including a connection element configured to be coupled to a fixation element and an anchoring element configured to be coupled to an external fixation point, the tensioning element being operable to apply a tension between the connection element and the anchoring element, the fixation element including a first portion configured to be coupled to the tensioning element and a second portion configured to be coupled to a bone, the tensioning element and the fixation element being configured to cooperate to apply a tension between the bone and an external fixation point when the anchoring element of the tensioning element is coupled to the external fixation point, the second portion of the fixation element is coupled to the bone, and the tensioning element is operated to apply the tension, thereby retaining the bone in a fixed position.
GUIDANCE SYSTEM FOR HALLUX VALGUS CORRECTION
A guidance system comprises a first guide configured to be detachably mounted to a first portion of a bone. The first guide has a first axis for alignment with a longitudinal axis of the first portion of the bone. A second guide is mountable on the first guide. The second guide is slidably translatable in a transverse direction relative to the first axis. A third guide is mountable on the second guide. The third guide is selectively positionable along a curved path extending at least part way around the longitudinal axis.
HUMERAL HEAD IMPLANT SYSTEM
A humeral head implant system includes a head component including a first articulating surface, a second bottom surface extending from the first spherical articulating surface, a first cavity extending a first distance into the head component from the second bottom surface, and a second cavity extending into the head component along a cavity axis. The head component defines a head axis extending through a center of the first articulating surface parallel to the cavity axis. A base component defines a slot extending from a first width to a second width. An insert component includes an insert body, a first engagement feature, and a slot engagement feature. The first engagement feature is received in the second cavity along the cavity axis. The insert body has an insert thickness less than the first distance, and the slot engagement feature slides into the slot in a direction transverse to the cavity axis.
BONE SLIVER REMOVAL SYSTEM
A surgical tool and related methods are provided for removal of a bone sliver from a resected joint. The tool can include a housing including an upper end, a lower end, and a channel extending from the upper end to the lower end. A paddle member extends from the lower end of the housing. The paddle member includes a paddle shaft and a paddle head. The surgical tool further includes an insertion member that has a handle end, an extension that extends from the handle end, and a cutting tip. The extension is translatable within the channel such that the handle end and the cutting tip can move relative to the housing between a retracted position and an advanced position.
INTRAOSSEOUS SLIDING OSTEOTOMY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system includes an intraosseous sliding osteotomy (ISO) plate including a body extending between a first end, a second end, a first surface, a second surface, and a perimeter wall. The body defines at least one fastener aperture extending from the first surface to the second surface. A plate handle is configured to be coupled to the ISO plate. The plate handle includes a body including a handle portion and a head portion. The head portion defines at least one aperture. A locking element includes a locking portion sized and configured to extend through the at least one aperture defined in the head portion of the plate handle to couple the plate handle to the ISO plate.
INSTRUMENTS AND INSTRUMENT KIT FOR LATARJET PROCEDURE
Disclosed is a positioning instrument that includes: two branches equipped at the proximal end thereof with an opposite jaw between which the graft is positioned, the two branches moving closer to one another by a translation movement; and a drill bush including a first hole and a second hole, separated by a distance and sized for the passage and guidance of a bone drill bit. Also disclosed are an instrument kit as well as a method for attaching a graft.
Modular Orthopedic Clamps
An orthopedic clamp to assist in reducing the displacement between bone ends of a fracture, and to position a fixation device, during open fracture reduction surgery is described. The clamp includes a holder to hold the fixation device against the bone. The clamp may also swivel in relation to the holder while the position of the fixation device remains unchanged. The clamp may be modular so that components thereof may be released and/or attached.
