FEMORAL NECK SUPPORT STRUCTURE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD OF USE
A method of reinforcing a femoral neck comprises creating a bore proximate to at least one of a Ward's triangle and a greater trochanter, creating at least one cavity in a cancellous bone region of the femoral neck, inserting a substantially collapsed support structure through the bore and into the at least one cavity, expanding the support structure, and allowing at least a portion of the load from the femoral neck bone to be transferred to the support structure. The support structure compresses at least a portion of the cancellous bone upon expansion. A cavity created by the expansion is adapted to receive a filler material such as, but not limited to, bone cement.
BONE FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A combined inserter for insertion of an intramedullary nail and a bone plate together. The combined inserter includes a body that includes a longitudinal axis, a distal end, and a proximal end. The combined inserter includes an intramedullary nail coupler coupled to the body and configured to couple to an intramedullary nail; and a bone plate coupler coupled to the body and configured to couple to a bone plate.
BONE FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
An intramedullary nail includes a shaft between a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end includes a first bend that extends from an anterior side of the intramedullary nail toward a posterior side and a second bend that extends from the posterior side toward the anterior side of the intramedullary nail. The two bends transfer an insertion force on a distal end of the intramedullary nail to, and along a longitudinal axis of the shaft of the intramedullary nail.
BONE FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A bone plate includes body having a bone-facing surface that faces a first side of the long bone when the bone plate is in use. The long bone includes the first side, a second side, a third side, and a fourth side. The bone plate also includes a low-profile fixation assembly that can secure one end to the long bone. The low-profile fixation assembly fixates the one end to the long bone by approaching the one end from one of the second side, the third side, and the fourth side of the long bone.
Devices for Generating and Applying Compression Within a Body
This disclosure describes exemplary screw and intramedullary devices that are better able to bring bone fragments into close proximity with each other, generate a compressive load, and maintain that compressive load for a prolonged period of time while healing occurs. The devices are made of a shape memory material.
Systems, devices, and methods for joint fusion
The present invention relates generally to implants and tools for the fixation or fusion of joints or bone segments. These tools include tissue dilators and protectors. Other tools include broaches used to shape bores in bone. The tools can also include a system for removing an implant from bone. Implants can include assemblies of one or more implant structures that make possible the achievement of diverse interventions involving the fusion and/or stabilization of lumbar and sacral vertebra in a non-invasive manner, with minimal incision, and without the necessitating the removing the intervertebral disc. Implants for fusing both sacroiliac joints of a patient include a long implant that extends across both sacroiliac joints.
SURGICAL GUIDANCE DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR INSERTION THEREOF
Briefly, the invention relates to a surgical tool and method for forming a pilot bore by inserting a guide wire into bone. More particularly, the device includes a cannulated hand grip and driving tool used for the rotation of a pedicle screw into bone. The rear portion of the hand grip includes a slide assembly that is suited to grip a guide wire. The slide assembly includes a user adjustable stop to control the sliding movement of the guide wire. The rear surface of the slide assembly is constructed to be impacted with a hammer or similar device, whereby the stop prevents the guide wire from penetrating the bone further than desired. Should it be desired that the guide wire be retracted, a screw jack is included to allow the guide wire to be precisely retracted.
METHOD USING A COMBINATION REAMER/DRILL BIT FOR SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY
A method of using a combination device includes accessing a glenoid of a shoulder and coupling a power extension and the combination device, the power extension configured to couple with a power tool. The method further includes reaming a portion of the accessed glenoid using the coupled power extension and combination device and then decoupling the power extension and the combination device. Next, a manual extension and the combination device are coupled and the coupled manual extension is used to align a first drill guide of the combination device with a desired trajectory of a first fixation peg of a glenoid component with the combination device positioned against the reamed portion of the accessed glenoid. A drill bit is guided with the aligned first drill guide to bore a first fixation peg bore in the glenoid.
Lapidus Screw Guide Assembly and Method of Insertion
A screw guide assembly includes a guide body extending along a central longitudinal axis. The guide body has a proximal end portion having an attachment face extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a distal end portion having a screw support member extending away from the longitudinal axis. The screw support member is configured to allow for the insertion of a screw at an angle oblique relative to the longitudinal axis. A wire guide is removably inserted into the screw support member. A method of inserting a screw using the assembly is also disclosed.
