Joining method for a medical device

A joining method for a medical device, in particular a surgical instrument or implant, with a shaft and an attachment to be secured on the shaft, the method having the following steps: heating the attachment or cooling the shaft, such that an internal diameter of an opening of the heated attachment is greater than an external diameter of the shaft, then placing the shaft into the opening of the attachment, and then cooling the attachment, so as to shrink the attachment onto the shaft in a manner substantially free of gaps, or heating the shaft, such that the shaft and the opening are connected by an interference fit. A corresponding medical device is produced by the joining method.

Fixing piece firing device for dental membrane

Embodiments of the invention comprise a blade that has a gripping portion, a transition portion and a distal portion that may have a cutting edge. The gripping portion may be V-shaped in cross-section, or, more generally, not lying in a single plane. Some embodiments are straight along a longitudinal direction. Embodiments may comprise a transition portion that is complex having sub-regions, or a distal portion having a cross-sectional shape that is curved or V-shaped, or a distal portion having a tip of a different material. Other embodiments have a shape that follows a longitudinal path that is curved either concavely or convexly or both. Distal tip design parameters for good cutting properties are discussed.

BI-DIRECTIONAL PNEUMATIC IMPACTOR FOR ORTHOPEDIC DEVICES
20220183735 · 2022-06-16 ·

A bi-directional pneumatic impactor for imparting impact forces to an object. The impactor includes a support structure having at least one grip member and a piston reciprocally moveable along a piston axis. A pressure control system coupled with the support structure and adapted to be connected to a supply of pressurized air. The pressure control system reciprocatingly moves the piston along the piston axis to generate forceful impacts at one or both ends of the reciprocal movement. An impact transfer assembly disposed on the support structure is adapted to be coupled with the object whereby the impact transfer assembly transfers impact forces to the object in the driving and/or the retracting directions. A control spool may be used to control the supply of pressurized air to the piston cylinder. The impact transfer assembly may include a hammer pin extending axially through the piston.

Instruments and method for use in disassembling implants

An orthopaedic surgical instrument for use in disassembling an orthopaedic prosthesis includes a main component, a rod, and a spindle. The main component has a housing and an elongated body extending from the housing with a passageway is defined in the elongated body. The rod has an elongated shaft, with a greater length than the elongated body, extending from the head of the rod and configured to pass through the main component. The spindle threads into the housing to move the rod along a longitudinal axis.

Arrangement comprising an abutment post and an appurtenant cap, as well as a tool for application of the cap

An arrangement for mounting to a dental implant and a tool for use therewith. The arrangement includes an abutment post connected to a conical cap. The abutment post has a conical section with a conical outer surface configured to be complementary to a conical inner surface of a conical recess of the conical cap in such a manner that the conical cap can be placed on the conical section so as to at least partially receive the conical section in its conical recess. The inner surface of the conical cap and the outer surface of the abutment post are inclined relative to one another in such a manner that the conical cap can be connected to the abutment post by friction locking between the inner surface and the outer surface. The conicity of the conical section differs from the conicity of the conical recess.

Patient specific reconstructive glenoid systems and methods

A system for repairing a glenoid defect of a specific patient can include a patient-specific punch and a patient-specific shaping block. The patient-specific punch can form a patient-specific glenoid implant from a bone puck. The patient-specific shaping block can shape the patient-specific glenoid implant to match and fill a glenoid defect of a specific patient.

Osteotomy plate, plate driver and method for their use

An orthopedic plate is specifically configured for use in osteotomies, in which part of the plate extends into a portion of a first bone segment and part is external to the cortical surface of an adjacent bone segment to fix the segments to allow them to fuse. The plate has a first end and a second end where the end which is inserted into the bone has a chamfer and a through hole having a hole axis optionally at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the plate, and which can receive a screw, peg or pin. The second end of the plate includes a locking screw hole and optionally including a compression slot extending in a direction toward a screw hole in the opposing end. Optionally, the non-locking hole has a shroud that forms an arc or portion of a cylinder over the hole. A plate driver having a recess that holds the plate is used to insert the plate into the bone.
